　マリヤのところにきて、イエスのなさったことを見た多くのユダヤ人たちは、イエスを信じた。

　しかし、そのうちの数人がパリサイ人たちのところに行って、イエスのされたことを告げた。

11:47
　そこで、祭司長たちとパリサイ人たちとは、議会を召集して言った、「この人が多くのしるしを行っているのに、お互は何をしているのだ。

11:48
　もしこのままにしておけば、みんなが彼を信じるようになるだろう。そのうえ、ローマ人がやってきて、わたしたちの土地も人民も奪ってしまうであろう」。

11:49
　彼らのうちのひとりで、その年の大祭司であったカヤパが、彼らに言った、「あなたがたは、何もわかっていないし、

11:50
　ひとりの人が人民に代って死んで、全国民が滅びないようになるのがわたしたちにとって得だということを、考えてもいない」。

11:51
　このことは彼が自分から言ったのではない。彼はこの年の大祭司であったので、預言をして、イエスが国民のために、

11:52
　ただ国民のためだけではなく、また散在している神の子らを一つに集めるために、死ぬことになっていると、言ったのである。

　彼らはこの日からイエスを殺そうと相談した。

　そのためイエスは、もはや公然とユダヤ人の間を歩かないで、そこを出て、荒野に近い地方のエフライムという町に行かれ、そこに弟子たちと一緒に滞在しておられた。

　さて、ユダヤ人の過越の祭が近づいたので、多くの人々は身をきよめるために、祭の前に、地方からエルサレムへ上った。

　人々はイエスを捜し求め、宮の庭に立って互に言った、「あなたがたはどう思うか。イエスはこの祭にこないのだろうか」。

★エゼキエル書(37:21-28)

　あなたは彼らに言え。主なる神は、こう言われる、見よ、わたしはイスラエルの人々を、その行った国々から取り出し、四方から彼らを集めて、その地にみちびき、

　その地で彼らを一つの民となしてイスラエルの山々におらせ、ひとりの王が彼ら全体の王となり、彼らは重ねて二つの国民とならず、再び二つの国に分れない。

37:23
　彼らはまた、その偶像と、その憎むべきことどもと、もろもろのとがとをもって、身を汚すことはない。わたしは彼らを、その犯したすべての背信から救い出して、これを清める。そして彼らはわが民となり、わたしは彼らの神となる。

　わがしもべダビデは彼らの王となる。彼らすべての者のために、ひとりの牧者が立つ。彼らはわがおきてに歩み、わが定めを守って行う。

　彼らはわがしもべヤコブに、わたしが与えた地に住む。これはあなたがたの先祖の住んだ所である。そこに彼らと、その子らと、その子孫とが永遠に住み、わがしもべダビデが、永遠に彼らの君となる。

　すなわち主はヤコブをあがない、彼らよりも強い者の手から彼を救いだされた。

　彼らは来てシオンの山で声高く歌い、主から賜わった良い物のために、穀物と酒と油および若き羊と牛のために、喜びに輝く。その魂は潤う園のようになり、彼らは重ねて憂えることがない。

　神の言葉を聞く者、全能者の幻を見る者、倒れ伏して、目の開かれた者の言葉。

　ヤコブよ、あなたの天幕は麗しい、イスラエルよ、あなたのすまいは、麗しい。 24:6それは遠くひろがる谷々のよう、川べの園のよう、主が植えられた沈香樹のよう、流れのほとりの香柏のようだ。

　水は彼らのかめからあふれ、彼らの種は水の潤いに育つであろう。彼らの王はアガグよりも高くなり、彼らの国はあがめられるであろう。

　神は彼らをエジプトから導き出された、彼らは野牛の角のようだ。彼らは敵なる国々の民を滅ぼし、その骨を砕き、矢をもって突き通すであろう。

　それで今あなたは急いで自分のところへ帰ってください。わたしはあなたを大いに優遇しようと思った。しかし、主はその優遇をあなたに得させないようにされました」。

　バラムはバラクに言った、「わたしはあなたがつかわされた使者たちに言ったではありませんか、

　『たといバラクがその家に満ちるほどの金銀をわたしに与えようとも、主の言葉を越えて心のままに善も悪も行うことはできません。わたしは主の言われることを述べるだけです』。

　わたしは今わたしの民のところへ帰って行きます。それでわたしはこの民が後の日にあなたの民にどんなことをするかをお知らせしましょう」。

21 Say to them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, where they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all;

23 neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

24 My servant David shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my ordinances, and observe my statutes, and do them.

25 They shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers lived; and they shall dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children’s children, forever: and David my servant shall be their prince for ever.

26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in their midst forevermore.

27 My tent also shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

28 The nations shall know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in their midst forevermore.

45 Therefore many of the Jews, who came to Mary and saw what Jesus did, believed in him.

46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done.

47 The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, “What are we doing? For this man does many signs.

48 If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

49 But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all,

50 nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”

51 Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,

52 and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

53 So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death.

54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim. He stayed there with his disciples.

55 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand. Many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

56 Then they sought for Jesus and spoke one with another, as they stood in the temple, “What do you think―that he isn’t coming to the feast at all?”

1 When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to meet with enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2 Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him.

3 He took up his parable, and said,
“Balaam the son of Beor says,
the man whose eye was closed says;

4 he says, who hears the words of God,
who sees the vision of the Almighty,
falling down, and having his eyes open:

5 How goodly are your tents, Jacob,
and your tents, Israel!

6 As valleys they are spread forth,
as gardens by the riverside,
as aloes which Yahweh has planted,
as cedar trees beside the waters.

7 Water shall flow from his buckets.
His seed shall be in many waters.
His king shall be higher than Agag.
His kingdom shall be exalted.

8 God brings him out of Egypt.
He has as it were the strength of the wild ox.
He shall eat up the nations his adversaries,
shall break their bones in pieces,
and pierce them with his arrows.

9 He couched, he lay down as a lion,
as a lioness; who shall rouse him up?
Everyone who blesses you is blessed.
Everyone who curses you is cursed.”

10 Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he struck his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.

11 Therefore now flee you to your place! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, Yahweh has kept you back from honor.”

12 Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers who you sent to me, saying,

13 ‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the word of Yahweh, to do either good or bad of my own mind. I will say what Yahweh says’?

14 Now, behold, I go to my people: come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”

15 He took up his parable, and said,
“Balaam the son of Beor says,
the man whose eye was closed says;

16 he says, who hears the words of God,
knows the knowledge of the Most High,
and who sees the vision of the Almighty,
Falling down, and having his eyes open:

17 I see him, but not now.
I see him, but not near.
A star will come out of Jacob.
A scepter will rise out of Israel,
and shall strike through the corners of Moab,
and break down all the sons of Sheth.

18 Edom shall be a possession.
Seir, his enemies, also shall be a possession,
while Israel does valiantly.

19 Out of Jacob shall one have dominion,
and shall destroy the remnant from the city.”

　そこでユダヤ人たちは、イエスを打ち殺そうとして、また石を取りあげた。

10:32
　するとイエスは彼らに答えられた、「わたしは、父による多くのよいわざを、あなたがたに示した。その中のどのわざのために、わたしを石で打ち殺そうとするのか」。

10:33
　ユダヤ人たちは答えた、「あなたを石で殺そうとするのは、よいわざをしたからではなく、神を汚したからである。また、あなたは人間であるのに、自分を神としているからである」。

10:34
　イエスは彼らに答えられた、「あなたがたの律法に、『わたしは言う、あなたがたは神々である』と書いてあるではないか。

10:35
　神の言を託された人々が、神々といわれておるとすれば、（そして聖書の言は、すたることがあり得ない）

10:36
　父が聖別して、世につかわされた者が、『わたしは神の子である』と言ったからとて、どうして『あなたは神を汚す者だ』と言うのか。

10:37
　もしわたしが父のわざを行わないとすれば、わたしを信じなくてもよい。

　チッポルの子バラクはイスラエルがアモリびとにしたすべての事を見たので、

　モアブは大いにイスラエルの民を恐れた。その数が多かったためである。モアブはイスラエルの人々をひじょうに恐れたので、

22:4
　ミデアンの長老たちに言った、「この群衆は牛が野の草をなめつくすように、われわれの周囲の物をみな、なめつくそうとしている」。チッポルの子バラクはこの時モアブの王であった。

22:5
　彼はアンモンびとの国のユフラテ川のほとりにあるペトルに使者をつかわし、ベオルの子バラムを招こうとして言わせた、「エジプトから出てきた民があり、地のおもてをおおってわたしの前にいます。

22:6
　どうぞ今きてわたしのためにこの民をのろってください。彼らはわたしよりも強いのです。そうしてくだされば、われわれは彼らを撃って、この国から追い払うことができるかもしれません。あなたが祝福する者は祝福され、あなたがのろう者はのろわれることをわたしは知っています」。

　モアブの長老たちとミデアンの長老たちは占いの礼物を手にして出発し、バラムのもとへ行って、バラクの言葉を告げた。

　ろばは主の使を見て、石がきにすり寄り、バラムの足を石がきに押しつけたので、バラムは、また、ろばを打った。

　主の使はまた先に進んで、狭い所に立ちふさがっていた。そこは右にも左にも、曲る道がなかったので、

　ろばは主の使を見てバラムの下に伏した。そこでバラムは怒りを発し、つえでろばを打った。

　すると、主が、ろばの口を開かれたので、ろばはバラムにむかって言った、「わたしがあなたに何をしたというのですか。あなたは三度もわたしを打ったのです」。

　バラムは、ろばに言った、「お前がわたしを侮ったからだ。わたしの手につるぎがあれば、いま、お前を殺してしまうのだが」。

　ろばはまたバラムに言った、「わたしはあなたが、きょうまで長いあいだ乗られたろばではありませんか。わたしはいつでも、あなたにこのようにしたでしょうか」。バラムは言った、「いや、しなかった」。

22:31
　このとき主がバラムの目を開かれたので、彼は主の使が手に抜き身のつるぎをもって、道に立ちふさがっているのを見て、頭を垂れてひれ伏した。

22:32
　主の使は彼に言った、「なぜあなたは三度もろばを打ったのか。あなたが誤って道を行くので、わたしはあなたを妨げようとして出てきたのだ。

22:33
　ろばはわたしを見て三度も身を巡らしてわたしを避けた。もし、ろばが身を巡らしてわたしを避けなかったなら、わたしはきっと今あなたを殺して、ろばを生かしておいたであろう」。

22:34
　バラムは主の使に言った、「わたしは罪を犯しました。あなたがわたしをとどめようとして、道に立ちふさがっておられるのを、わたしは知りませんでした。それで今、もし、お気に召さないのであれば、わたしは帰りましょう」。

22:35
　主の使はバラムに言った、「この人々と一緒に行きなさい。ただし、わたしが告げることのみを述べなければならない」。こうしてバラムはバラクのつかさたちと一緒に行った。

10 For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall; perhaps he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

11 But Yahweh is with me as an awesome mighty one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be utterly disappointed, because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which shall never be forgotten.

12 But, Yahweh of Armies, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance on them; for to you have I revealed my cause.

13 Sing to Yahweh, praise Yahweh; for he has delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evildoers.

34 Jesus answered them, “Isn’t it written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods?’††

35 If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can’t be broken),

36 do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God?’

1 The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho.

2 Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

3 Moab was very afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

4 Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this multitude will lick up all that is around us, as the ox licks up the grass of the field.”
Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time.

5 He sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River, to the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, “Behold, there is a people who came out from Egypt. Behold, they cover the surface of the earth, and they are staying opposite me.

6 Please come now therefore curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: perhaps I shall prevail, that we may strike them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”

7 The elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came to Balaam, and spoke to him the words of Balak.

8 He said to them, “Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as Yahweh shall speak to me.” The princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.

20 God came to Balaam at night, and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak to you, that you shall do.”

21 Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab.

22 God’s anger was kindled because he went; and the angel of Yahweh placed himself in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

23 The donkey saw the angel of Yahweh standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and the donkey turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam struck the donkey, to turn her into the way.

24 Then the angel of Yahweh stood in a narrow path between the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.

25 The donkey saw the angel of Yahweh, and she thrust herself to the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he struck her again.

26 The angel of Yahweh went further, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

27 The donkey saw the angel of Yahweh, and she lay down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he struck the donkey with his staff.

28 Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”

29 Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have mocked me, I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would have killed you.”

30 The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey, on which you have ridden all your life long to this day? Was I ever in the habit of doing so to you?”
He said, “No.”

31 Then Yahweh opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of Yahweh standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and he bowed his head, and fell on his face.

32 The angel of Yahweh said to him, “Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come forth as an adversary, because your way is perverse before me:

33 and the donkey saw me, and turned aside before me these three times. Unless she had turned aside from me, surely now I would have killed you, and saved her alive.”

34 Balaam said to the angel of Yahweh, “I have sinned; for I didn’t know that you stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displeases you, I will go back again.”

35 The angel of Yahweh said to Balaam, “Go with the men; but only the word that I shall speak to you, that you shall speak.”

3 Abram fell on his face. God talked with him, saying,

4 “As for me, behold, my covenant is with you. You will be the father of a multitude of nations.

5 Neither will your name any more be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.

6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you. Kings will come out of you.

7 I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you.

8 I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land where you are traveling, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. I will be their God.”

9 God said to Abraham, “As for you, you will keep my covenant, you and your seed after you throughout their generations.

16 One law and one ordinance shall be for you, and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner with you.’”

　また真理を知るであろう。そして真理は、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろう」。

　そこで、彼らはイエスに言った、「わたしたちはアブラハムの子孫であって、人の奴隷になったことなどは、一度もない。どうして、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろうと、言われるのか」。

　イエスは彼らに答えられた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。すべて罪を犯す者は罪の奴隷である。

　そして、奴隷はいつまでも家にいる者ではない。しかし、子はいつまでもいる。

+ First Reading: Numbers 21:4-9

4 They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.

5 The people spoke against God, and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loathes this light bread.”

6 Yahweh sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.

7 The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh, and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

8 Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole. It shall happen, that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”

9 Moses made a serpent of brass, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of brass, he lived.

28 Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.

29 He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

2 They said, “Has Yahweh indeed spoken only with Moses? Hasn’t he spoken also with us?” And Yahweh heard it.

3 Now the man Moses was very humble, above all the men who were on the surface of the earth.

4 Yahweh spoke suddenly to Moses, to Aaron, and to Miriam, “You three come out to the Tent of Meeting!”
The three of them came out.

5 Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the door of the Tent, and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forward.

6 He said, “Now hear my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

7 My servant Moses is not so. He is faithful in all my house.

8 With him, I will speak mouth to mouth, even plainly, and not in riddles; and he shall see Yahweh’s form. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses?”

9 Yahweh’s anger was kindled against them; and he departed.

10 The cloud departed from over the Tent; and behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. Aaron looked at Miriam, and behold, she was leprous.

11 Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, please don’t count this sin against us, in which we have done foolishly, and in which we have sinned.

12 Let her not, I pray, be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.”

13 Moses cried to Yahweh, saying, “Heal her, God, I beg you!”

　そこでユダヤ人たちは言った、「わたしの行く所に、あなたがたは来ることができないと、言ったのは、あるいは自殺でもしようとするつもりか」。

　イエスは彼らに言われた、「あなたがたは下から出た者だが、わたしは上からきた者である。あなたがたはこの世の者であるが、わたしはこの世の者ではない。

8:24
　だからわたしは、あなたがたは自分の罪のうちに死ぬであろうと、言ったのである。もしわたしがそういう者であることをあなたがたが信じなければ、罪のうちに死ぬことになるからである」。

4 They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea*, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.

5 The people spoke against God, and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loathes this light bread.”

6 Yahweh sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many people of Israel died.

7 The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh, and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

8 Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard: and it shall happen, that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”

9 Moses made a serpent of brass, and set it on the standard: and it happened, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of brass, he lived.

22 The Jews therefore said, “Will he kill himself, that he says, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come?’”

23 He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.

24 I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am§he, you will die in your sins.”

25 They said therefore to him, “Who are you?”
Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.

26 I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world.”

27 They didn’t understand that he spoke to them about the Father.

28 Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.

29 He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

30 As he spoke these things, many believed in him.

8:13 You shall set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to Yahweh.

14 Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.

15 “After that, the Levites shall go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them as a wave offering.

16 For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel, I have taken them to me.

17 For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for myself.

18 I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

19 I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary.”

20 Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel did so to the Levites. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them.

21 The Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them for a wave offering before Yahweh; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them.

22 After that, the Levites went in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron, and before his sons: as Yahweh had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

23 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

24 “This is that which belongs to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the Tent of Meeting;

25 and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting on the work, and shall serve no more,

26 but shall minister with their brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to perform the duty, and shall do no service. You shall do thus to the Levites concerning their duties.”

9:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 “Moreover let the children of Israel keep the Passover in its appointed season.

3 On the fourteenth day of this month, at evening, you shall keep it in its appointed season―according to all its statutes, and according to all its ordinances, you shall keep it.”

4 Moses spoke to the children of Israel, that they should keep the Passover.

5 They kept the Passover in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, at evening, in the wilderness of Sinai. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did.

6 There were certain men, who were unclean because of the dead body of a man, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day, and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

7 Those men said to him, “We are unclean because of the dead body of a man. Why are we kept back, that we may not offer the offering of Yahweh in its appointed season among the children of Israel?”

8 Moses answered them, “Wait, that I may hear what Yahweh will command concerning you.”

　また前のように、すなわちわたしがわが民イスラエルの上にさばきづかさを立てた時からこのかたのように、悪い人が重ねてこれを荒すことはないであろう。わたしはまたあなたのもろもろの敵を征服する。かつわたしは主があなたのために家を建てられることを告げる。

　あなたの日が満ち、あなたの先祖たちの所へ行かねばならぬとき、わたしはあなたの子、すなわちあなたの子らのひとりを、あなたのあとに立てて、その王国を堅くする。

　彼はわたしのために家を建てるであろう。わたしは長く彼の位を堅くする。

7:10 Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

11 “Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.”

12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, neither will I tempt Yahweh.”

13 He said, “Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?

14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.*“Immanuel” means “God with us.”

8:10 Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand: for God is with us.”

*7:14: “Immanuel” means “God with us.”

but you prepared a body for me;

8 Previously saying, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them” (those which are offered according to the law),

9 then he has said, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,

28 Having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!”

29 But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be.

30 The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

31 Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name ‘Jesus.’

32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,

33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”

34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God.

36 Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.

37 For everything spoken by God is possible.”

38 Mary said, “Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word.”
The angel departed from her.

3 It happened the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

4 “Go and tell David my servant, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “You shall not build me a house to dwell in;

5 for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tent to another.

6 In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’”’

7 “Now therefore, you shall tell my servant David, ‘Thus says Yahweh of Armies, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel.

8 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

9 I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the first,

10 and from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that Yahweh will build you a house.

11 It shall happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who shall be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

12 He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.

13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before you;

14 but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever. His throne shall be established forever.”’”

15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

　彼らはガリラヤのベツサイダ出であるピリポのところにきて、「君よ、イエスにお目にかかりたいのですが」と言って頼んだ。

　ピリポはアンデレのところに行ってそのことを話し、アンデレとピリポは、イエスのもとに行って伝えた。

12:23
　すると、イエスは答えて言われた、「人の子が栄光を受ける時がきた。

12:24
　よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。一粒の麦が地に落ちて死ななければ、それはただ一粒のままである。しかし、もし死んだなら、豊かに実を結ぶようになる。

12:25
　自分の命を愛する者はそれを失い、この世で自分の命を憎む者は、それを保って永遠の命に至るであろう。

12:26
　もしわたしに仕えようとする人があれば、その人はわたしに従って来るがよい。そうすれば、わたしのおる所に、わたしに仕える者もまた、おるであろう。もしわたしに仕えようとする人があれば、その人を父は重んじて下さるであろう。

　モーセはクシの女をめとっていたが、そのクシの女をめとったゆえをもって、ミリアムとアロンはモーセを非難した。

　彼らは言った、「主はただモーセによって語られるのか。われわれによっても語られるのではないのか」。主はこれを聞かれた。

　モーセはその人となり柔和なこと、地上のすべての人にまさっていた。

　そこで、主は突然モーセとアロン、およびミリアムにむかって「あなたがた三人、会見の幕屋に出てきなさい」と言われたので、彼ら三人は出てきたが、

　主は雲の柱のうちにあって下り、幕屋の入口に立って、アロンとミリアムを呼ばれた。彼らふたりが進み出ると、

32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband to them, says Yahweh.

33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

34 and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know Yahweh; for they shall all know me, from their least to their greatest, says Yahweh: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.

31 Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.

The three of them came out.

5 Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the door of the Tent, and called Aaron and Miriam; and they both came forward.

6 He said, “Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you, I Yahweh will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

7 My servant Moses is not so. He is faithful in all my house.

8 With him I will speak mouth to mouth, even plainly, and not in riddles; and he shall see Yahweh’s form. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses?”

9 The anger of Yahweh was kindled against them; and he departed.

10 The cloud departed from over the Tent; and behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. Aaron looked at Miriam, and behold, she was leprous.

11 Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, please don’t count this sin against us, in which we have done foolishly, and in which we have sinned. 12 Let her not, I pray, be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.”
13 Moses cried to Yahweh, saying, “Heal her, God, I beg you!”

14 Yahweh said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, shouldn’t she be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut up outside of the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again.”

15 Miriam was shut up outside of the camp seven days, and the people didn’t travel until Miriam was brought in again. 16 Afterward the people traveled from Hazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.

　こうして、群衆の間にイエスのことで分争が生じた。

　モーセは言った、「わたしと共におる民は徒歩の男子だけでも六十万です。ところがあなたは、『わたしは彼らに肉を与えて一か月のあいだ食べさせよう』と言われます。

　羊と牛の群れを彼らのためにほふって、彼らを飽きさせるというのですか。海のすべての魚を彼らのために集めて、彼らを飽きさせるというのですか」。

　主はモーセに言われた、「主の手は短かろうか。あなたは、いま、わたしの言葉の成るかどうかを見るであろう」。

　この時モーセは出て、主の言葉を民に告げ、民の長老たち七十人を集めて、幕屋の周囲に立たせた。

　主は雲のうちにあって下り、モーセと語られ、モーセの上にある霊を、その七十人の長老たちにも分け与えられた。その霊が彼らの上にとどまった時、彼らは預言した。ただし、その後は重ねて預言しなかった。

　その時ふたりの者が、宿営にとどまっていたが、ひとりの名はエルダデと言い、ひとりの名はメダデといった。彼らの上にも霊がとどまった。彼らは名をしるされた者であったが、幕屋に行かなかったので、宿営のうちで預言した。

　時にひとりの若者が走ってきて、モーセに告げて言った、「エルダデとメダデとが宿営のうちで預言しています」。

　若い時からモーセの従者であったヌンの子ヨシュアは答えて言った、「わが主、モーセよ、彼らをさし止めてください」。

　モーセは彼に言った、「あなたは、わたしのためを思って、ねたみを起しているのか。主の民がみな預言者となり、主がその霊を彼らに与えられることは、願わしいことだ」。

18 Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you showed me their doings.

19 But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I didn’t know that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

20 But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I shall see your vengeance on them; for to you have I revealed my cause.

1 Yahweh, my God, I take refuge in you.

43 So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.

44 Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.

45 The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him?”

46 The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”

47 The Pharisees therefore answered them, “You aren’t also led astray, are you? 48 Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees? 49 But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is accursed.”

50 Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,

51 “Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”

52 They answered him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.‡See Isaiah 9:1 and Matthew 4:13-16. ”

6 but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”

10 Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of Yahweh was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.

11 Moses said to Yahweh, “Why have you treated with your servant so badly? Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?

12 Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?’

13 Where could I get meat to give to all this people? For they weep to me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’

14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.

15 If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”

16 Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.

17 I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.

18 “Say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you will eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, “Who will give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you flesh, and you will eat.

19 You will not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,

20 but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because that you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”

21 Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.’

22 Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”

23 Yahweh said to Moses, “Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”

24 Moses went out, and told the people the words of Yahweh; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.

25 Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.

26 But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.

27 A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”

28 Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”

29 Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”

30 Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

　そののち、イエスはガリラヤを巡回しておられた。ユダヤ人たちが自分を殺そうとしていたので、ユダヤを巡回しようとはされなかった。

7:2
　時に、ユダヤ人の仮庵の祭が近づいていた。

7:10
　しかし、兄弟たちが祭に行ったあとで、イエスも人目にたたぬように、ひそかに行かれた。

7:25
　さて、エルサレムのある人たちが言った、「この人は人々が殺そうと思っている者ではないか。

7:26
　見よ、彼は公然と語っているのに、人々はこれに対して何も言わない。役人たちは、この人がキリストであることを、ほんとうに知っているのではなかろうか。

7:27
　わたしたちはこの人がどこからきたのか知っている。しかし、キリストが現れる時には、どこから来るのか知っている者は、ひとりもいない」。

7:28
　イエスは宮の内で教えながら、叫んで言われた、「あなたがたは、わたしを知っており、また、わたしがどこからきたかも知っている。しかし、わたしは自分からきたのではない。わたしをつかわされたかたは真実であるが、あなたがたは、そのかたを知らない。

　彼らはこう言い合うが、その考えは誤っている。

2章12節
　神に従う人は邪魔だから、だまして陥れよう。我々のすることに反対し、／律法に背くといって我々をとがめ／教訓に反するといって非難するのだから。

2章13節
　神に従う人は、神を知っていると公言し、／自らを主の僕と呼んでいる。

2章14節
　彼らの存在は我々の考えをとがめだてる。だから、見るだけで気が重くなる。

2章15節
　その生き方が他の者とは異なり、／その行動も変わっているからだ。

2章16節
　我々を偽り者と見なし、／汚れを避けるかのように我々の道を遠ざかる。神に従う人の最期は幸せだと言い、／神が自分の父であると豪語する。

　主のみ顔は悪を行う者にむかい、その記憶を地から断ち滅ぼされる。

　正しい者が助けを叫び求めるとき、主は聞いて、彼らをそのすべての悩みから助け出される。

　主は心の砕けた者に近く、たましいの悔いくずおれた者を救われる。

34:19
　正しい者には災が多い。しかし、主はすべてその中から彼を助け出される。

　主は彼の骨をことごとく守られる。その一つだに折られることはない。

　主はそのしもべらの命をあがなわれる。主に寄り頼む者はひとりだに罪に定められることはない。

　幕屋を建てた日に、雲は幕屋をおおった。すれはすなわち、あかしの幕屋であって、夕には、幕屋の上に、雲は火のように見えて、朝にまで及んだ。

　常にそうであって、昼は雲がそれをおおい、夜は火のように見えた。

9:17
　雲が幕屋を離れてのぼる時は、イスラエルの人々は、ただちに道に進んだ。また雲がとどまる所に、イスラエルの人々は宿営した。

9:18
　すなわち、イスラエルの人々は、主の命によって道に進み、主の命によって宿営し、幕屋の上に雲がとどまっている間は、宿営していた。

9:19
　幕屋の上に、日久しく雲のとどまる時は、イスラエルの人々は主の言いつけを守って、道に進まなかった。

　また幕屋の上に、雲のとどまる日の少ない時もあったが、彼らは、ただ主の命にしたがって宿営し、主の命にしたがって、道に進んだ。

　またあなたがたが警報を吹き鳴らす時は、東の方の宿営が、道に進まなければならない。

　二度目の警報を吹き鳴らす時は、南の方の宿営が、道に進まなければならない。すべて道に進む時は、警報を吹き鳴らさなければならない。

　また会衆を集める時にも、ラッパを吹き鳴らすが、警報は吹き鳴らしてはならない。

　アロンの子である祭司たちが、ラッパを吹かなければならない。これはあなたがたが、代々ながく守るべき定めとしなければならない。

　また、あなたがたの国で、あなたがたをしえたげるあだとの戦いに出る時は、ラッパをもって、警報を吹き鳴らさなければならない。そうするならば、あなたがたは、あなたがたの神、主に覚えられて、あなたがたの敵から救われるであろう。

　彼らが宿営を出て、道に進むとき、昼は主の雲が彼らの上にあった。

16 Yahweh’s face is against those who do evil,
to cut off their memory from the earth.

17 The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears,
and delivers them out of all their troubles.

18 Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart,
and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.

20 He protects all of his bones.
Not one of them is broken.

22 Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants.
None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned.

1 After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

2 Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.

10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.

25 Therefore some of them of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this he whom they seek to kill?

26 Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?

27 However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from.”

28 Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don’t know.

29 I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”

30 They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

9:15 On the day that the tabernacle was raised up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, even the Tent of the Testimony: and at evening it was over the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until morning.

16 So it was continually. The cloud covered it, and the appearance of fire by night.

17 Whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tent, then after that the children of Israel traveled; and in the place where the cloud remained, there the children of Israel encamped.

18 At the commandment of Yahweh, the children of Israel traveled, and at the commandment of Yahweh they encamped. As long as the cloud remained on the tabernacle they remained encamped.

19 When the cloud stayed on the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept Yahweh’s command, and didn’t travel.

20 Sometimes the cloud was a few days on the tabernacle; then according to the commandment of Yahweh they remained encamped, and according to the commandment of Yahweh they traveled.

21 Sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they traveled: or by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they traveled.

22 Whether it was two days, or a month, or a year that the cloud stayed on the tabernacle, remaining on it, the children of Israel remained encamped, and didn’t travel; but when it was taken up, they traveled.

23 At the commandment of Yahweh they encamped, and at the commandment of Yahweh they traveled. They kept Yahweh’s command, at the commandment of Yahweh by Moses.

10:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2 “Make two trumpets of silver. You shall make them of beaten work. You shall use them for the calling of the congregation, and for the journeying of the camps.

3 When they blow them, all the congregation shall gather themselves to you at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

4 If they blow just one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves to you.

5 When you blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall go forward.

6 When you blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall go forward. They shall blow an alarm for their journeys.

7 But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm.

8 “The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. This shall be to you for a statute forever throughout your generations.

9 When you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets. Then you will be remembered before Yahweh your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.

10 “Also in the day of your gladness, and in your set feasts, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God. I am Yahweh your God.”

33 They set forward from the Mount of Yahweh three days’ journey. The ark of the covenant of Yahweh went before them three days’ journey, to seek out a resting place for them.

34 The cloud of Yahweh was over them by day, when they set forward from the camp.

35 It happened, when the ark went forward, that Moses said, “Rise up, Yahweh, and let your enemies be scattered! Let those who hate you flee before you!”

36 When it rested, he said, “Return, Yahweh, to the ten thousands of the thousands of Israel.”

　もし、わたしが自分自身についてあかしをするならば、わたしのあかしはほんとうではない。

　わたしについてあかしをするかたはほかにあり、そして、その人がするあかしがほんとうであることを、わたしは知っている。

5:33
　あなたがたはヨハネのもとへ人をつかわしたが、そのとき彼は真理についてあかしをした。

5:34
　わたしは人からあかしを受けないが、このことを言うのは、あなたがたが救われるためである。

5:35
　ヨハネは燃えて輝くあかりであった。あなたがたは、しばらくの間その光を喜び楽しもうとした。

5:36
　しかし、わたしには、ヨハネのあかしよりも、もっと力あるあかしがある。父がわたしに成就させようとしてお与えになったわざ、すなわち、今わたしがしているこのわざが、父のわたしをつかわされたことをあかししている。

5:37

　主はモーセに言われた、「急いで下りなさい。あなたがエジプトの国から導きのぼったあなたの民は悪いことをした。

　彼らは早くもわたしが命じた道を離れ、自分のために鋳物の子牛を造り、これを拝み、これに犠牲をささげて、『イスラエルよ、これはあなたをエジプトの国から導きのぼったあなたの神である』と言っている」。

32:9
　主はまたモーセに言われた、「わたしはこの民を見た。これはかたくなな民である。

32:10
　それで、わたしをとめるな。わたしの怒りは彼らにむかって燃え、彼らを滅ぼしつくすであろう。しかし、わたしはあなたを大いなる国民とするであろう」。

　モーセはその神、主をなだめて言った、「主よ、大いなる力と強き手をもって、エジプトの国から導き出されたあなたの民にむかって、なぜあなたの怒りが燃えるのでしょうか。

+ First Reading: Exodus 32:7-14

7 Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Go, get down; for your people, who you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves!

8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.’”

9 Yahweh said to Moses, “I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.

10 Now therefore leave me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them, and that I may consume them; and I will make of you a great nation.”

11 Moses begged Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

12 Why should the Egyptians speak, saying, ‘He brought them out for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the earth?’ Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.

13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your seed as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

14 Yahweh repented of the evil which he said he would do to his people.

41 I don’t receive glory from men.

42 But I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in yourselves.

43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.

45 “Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.

46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me.

1 Now this is the history of the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that Yahweh spoke with Moses in Mount Sinai.

2 These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests who were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.

4 Nadab and Abihu died before Yahweh, when they offered strange fire before Yahweh, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children. Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the presence of Aaron their father.

5 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

6 “Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him.

7 They shall keep his requirements, and the requirements of the whole congregation before the Tent of Meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 They shall keep all the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting, and the obligations of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

9 You shall give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons. They are wholly given to him on the behalf of the children of Israel.

10 You shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall keep their priesthood. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.”

11 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

12 “Behold,* I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn who open the womb among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine:

13 for all the firstborn are mine. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I made holy to me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and animal. They shall be mine. I am Yahweh.”

　そこで、イエスは彼らに答えられた、「わたしの父は今に至るまで働いておられる。わたしも働くのである」。

　このためにユダヤ人たちは、ますますイエスを殺そうと計るようになった。それは、イエスが安息日を破られたばかりではなく、神を自分の父と呼んで、自分を神と等しいものとされたからである。

5:19
　さて、イエスは彼らに答えて言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。子は父のなさることを見てする以外に、自分からは何事もすることができない。父のなさることであればすべて、子もそのとおりにするのである。

5:20
　なぜなら、父は子を愛して、みずからなさることは、すべて子にお示しになるからである。そして、それよりもなお大きなわざを、お示しになるであろう。あなたがたが、それによって不思議に思うためである。

5:21
　すなわち、父が死人を起して命をお与えになるように、子もまた、そのこころにかなう人々に命を与えるであろう。

　父はだれをもさばかない。さばきのことはすべて、子にゆだねられたからである。

+ First Reading: Isaiah 49:8-15

8 Thus says Yahweh, “In an acceptable time have I answered you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you; and I will preserve you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage:

9 saying to those who are bound, ‘Come out!’; to those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves!’
“They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.

10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he who has mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water he will guide them.

11 I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

12 Behold, these shall come from far; and behold, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.”

9 “‘I will have respect for you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and will establish my covenant with you.

10 You shall eat old store long kept, and you shall move out the old because of the new.

11 I will set my tent among you, and my soul won’t abhor you.

12 I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

13 I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. I have broken the bars of your yoke, and made you go upright.

14 “‘But if you will not listen to me, and will not do all these commandments;

15 and if you shall reject my statutes, and if your soul abhors my ordinances, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant;

16 I also will do this to you: I will appoint terror over you, even consumption and fever, that shall consume the eyes, and make the soul to pine away. You will sow your seed in vain, for your enemies will eat it.

17 I will set my face against you, and you will be struck before your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you; and you will flee when no one pursues you.

38 You will perish among the nations. The land of your enemies will eat you up.

39 Those of you who are left will pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers they shall pine away with them.

40 “‘If they confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me, and also that, because they walked contrary to me,

41 I also walked contrary to them, and brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled, and they then accept the punishment of their iniquity;

42 then I will remember my covenant with Jacob; and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham; and I will remember the land.

43 The land also will be left by them, and will enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them: and they will accept the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they rejected my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them; for I am Yahweh their God;

45 but I will for their sake remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am Yahweh.’”

　こののち、ユダヤ人の祭があったので、イエスはエルサレムに上られた。

　エルサレムにある羊の門のそばに、ヘブル語でベテスダと呼ばれる池があった。そこには五つの廊があった。

5:3a
　その廊の中には、病人、盲人、足なえ、やせ衰えた者などが、大ぜいからだを横たえていた。

5:5
　さて、そこに三十八年のあいだ、病気に悩んでいる人があった。

5:6
　イエスはその人が横になっているのを見、また長い間わずらっていたのを知って、その人に「なおりたいのか」と言われた。

5:7
　この病人はイエスに答えた、「主よ、水が動く時に、わたしを池の中に入れてくれる人がいません。わたしがはいりかけると、ほかの人が先に降りて行くのです」。

5:8
　イエスは彼に言われた、「起きて、あなたの床を取りあげ、そして歩きなさい」。

5:9
　すると、この人はすぐにいやされ、床をとりあげて歩いて行った。その日は安息日であった。

　そこでユダヤ人たちは、そのいやされた人に言った、「きょうは安息日だ。床を取りあげるのは、よろしくない」。

2 Then he brought me out by the way of the gate northward, and led me round by the way outside to the outer gate, by the way of the gate that looks toward the east; and behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

3 When the man went out eastward with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the ankles.

4 Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through the waters, waters that were to the knees. Again he measured one thousand, and caused me to pass through waters that were to the waist.

3 In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water;

4 for an angel went down at certain times into the pool, and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.

5 A certain man was there, who had been sick for thirty-eight years.

6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”

7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”

8 Jesus said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”

9 Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked.
Now it was the Sabbath on that day.

10 So the Jews said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”

11 He answered them, “He who made me well, the same said to me, ‘Take up your mat, and walk.’”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat, and walk’?”

13 But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.

14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”

15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

16 For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath.

　ヤコブはマリヤの夫ヨセフの父であった。このマリヤからキリストといわれるイエスがお生れになった。

　イエス・キリストの誕生の次第はこうであった。母マリヤはヨセフと婚約していたが、まだ一緒にならない前に、聖霊によって身重になった。

1:19
　夫ヨセフは正しい人であったので、彼女のことが公けになることを好まず、ひそかに離縁しようと決心した。

1:20
　彼がこのことを思いめぐらしていたとき、主の使が夢に現れて言った、「ダビデの子ヨセフよ、心配しないでマリヤを妻として迎えるがよい。その胎内に宿っているものは聖霊によるのである。

　神が御子を世につかわされたのは、世をさばくためではなく、御子によって、この世が救われるためである。

　彼を信じる者は、さばかれない。信じない者は、すでにさばかれている。神のひとり子の名を信じることをしないからである。

14 Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted Yahweh’s house which he had made holy in Jerusalem.

15 Yahweh, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:

16 but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Yahweh arose against his people, until there was no remedy.

19 They burnt God’s house, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels of it.

20 He carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Babylon; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:

21 to fulfill Yahweh’s word by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths. As long as it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

6 Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water.

7 He put the coat on him, tied the sash on him, clothed him with the robe, put the ephod on him, and he tied the skillfully woven band of the ephod on him, and fastened it to him with it.

8 He placed the breastplate on him; and in the breastplate he put the Urim and the Thummim.

9 He set the turban on his head; and on the turban, in front, he set the golden plate, the holy crown; as Yahweh commanded Moses.

10 Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and sanctified them.

11 He sprinkled it on the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all its vessels, and the basin and its base, to sanctify them.

12 He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.

13 Moses brought Aaron’s sons, and clothed them with coats, and tied sashes on them, and put headbands on them; as Yahweh commanded Moses.

14 He brought the bull of the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the bull of the sin offering.

15 He killed it; and Moses took the blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar, and sanctified it, to make atonement for it.

16 He took all the fat that was on the innards, and the cover of the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat; and Moses burned it on the altar.

17 But the bull, and its skin, and its flesh, and its dung, he burned with fire outside the camp; as Yahweh commanded Moses.

9:22 Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people, and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.

23 Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting, and came out, and blessed the people: and Yahweh’s glory appeared to all the people.

24 Fire came out from before Yahweh, and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

　パリサイ人は立って、ひとりでこう祈った、『神よ、わたしはほかの人たちのような貪欲な者、不正な者、姦淫をする者ではなく、また、この取税人のような人間でもないことを感謝します。

　わたしは一週に二度断食しており、全収入の十分の一をささげています』。

10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: ‘God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’

13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

16 Moses did so. According to all that Yahweh commanded him, so he did.

17 In the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, the tabernacle was raised up.

18 Moses raised up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up its boards, and put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.

19 He spread the covering over the tent, and put the roof of the tabernacle above on it, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

20 He took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the poles on the ark, and put the mercy seat above on the ark.

21 He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

22 He put the table in the Tent of Meeting, on the side of the tabernacle northward, outside of the veil.

23 He set the bread in order on it before Yahweh, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

24 He put the lamp stand in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

25 He lit the lamps before Yahweh, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

26 He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting before the veil;

27 and he burnt incense of sweet spices on it, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

28 He put up the screen of the door to the tabernacle.

29 He set the altar of burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

30 He set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water therein, with which to wash.

31 Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and their feet there.

32 When they went into the Tent of Meeting, and when they came near to the altar, they washed, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

33 He raised up the court around the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.

34 Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and Yahweh’s glory filled the tabernacle.

35 Moses wasn’t able to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud stayed on it, and Yahweh’s glory filled the tabernacle.

36 When the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys;

37 but if the cloud wasn’t taken up, then they didn’t travel until the day that it was taken up.

38 For the cloud of Yahweh was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

　イエスは答えられた、「第一のいましめはこれである、『イスラエルよ、聞け。主なるわたしたちの神は、ただひとりの主である。

12:30
　心をつくし、精神をつくし、思いをつくし、力をつくして、主なるあなたの神を愛せよ』。

12:31
　第二はこれである、『自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ』。これより大事ないましめは、ほかにない」。

12:32
　そこで、この律法学者はイエスに言った、「先生、仰せのとおりです、『神はひとりであって、そのほかに神はない』と言われたのは、ほんとうです。

12:33
　また『心をつくし、知恵をつくし、力をつくして神を愛し、また自分を愛するように隣り人を愛する』ということは、すべての燔祭や犠牲よりも、はるかに大事なことです」。

12:34
　イエスは、彼が適切な答をしたのを見て言われた、「あなたは神の国から遠くない」。それから後は、イエスにあえて問う者はなかった。
