★マタイによる福音(1:16、18-21、24a)

1:16
　ヤコブはマリヤの夫ヨセフの父であった。このマリヤからキリストといわれるイエスがお生れになった。

1:18
　イエス・キリストの誕生の次第はこうであった。母マリヤはヨセフと婚約していたが、まだ一緒にならない前に、聖霊によって身重になった。

1:19
　夫ヨセフは正しい人であったので、彼女のことが公けになることを好まず、ひそかに離縁しようと決心した。

1:20
　彼がこのことを思いめぐらしていたとき、主の使が夢に現れて言った、「ダビデの子ヨセフよ、心配しないでマリヤを妻として迎えるがよい。その胎内に宿っているものは聖霊によるのである。

1:21
　彼女は男の子を産むであろう。その名をイエスと名づけなさい。彼は、おのれの民をそのもろもろの罪から救う者となるからである」。

1:24a
　ヨセフは眠りからさめた。


★ルカによる福音(2:41-51a)

　さて、イエスの両親は、過越の祭には毎年エルサレムへ上っていた。

2:42
　イエスが十二歳になった時も、慣例に従って祭のために上京した。

　ところが、祭が終って帰るとき、少年イエスはエルサレムに居残っておられたが、両親はそれに気づかなかった。

2:44
　そして道連れの中にいることと思いこんで、一日路を行ってしまい、それから、親族や知人の中を捜しはじめたが、

2:45
　見つからないので、捜しまわりながらエルサレムへ引返した。

2:46
　そして三日の後に、イエスが宮の中で教師たちのまん中にすわって、彼らの話を聞いたり質問したりしておられるのを見つけた。

2:47
　聞く人々はみな、イエスの賢さやその答に驚嘆していた。

2:48
　両親はこれを見て驚き、そして母が彼に言った、「どうしてこんな事をしてくれたのです。ごらんなさい、おとう様もわたしも心配して、あなたを捜していたのです」。

2:49
　するとイエスは言われた、「どうしてお捜しになったのですか。わたしが自分の父の家にいるはずのことを、ご存じなかったのですか」。

2:50
　しかし、両親はその語られた言葉を悟ることができなかった。

2:51a
　それからイエスは両親と一緒にナザレに下って行き、彼らにお仕えになった。

『主はこう仰せられる。あなたはわたしの住む家を建てようとするのか。

　あなたが日が満ちて、先祖たちと共に眠る時、わたしはあなたの身から出る子を、あなたのあとに立てて、その王国を堅くするであろう。

　彼はわたしの名のために家を建てる。わたしは長くその国の位を堅くしよう。

7:14a
　わたしは彼の父となり、彼はわたしの子となるであろう。

7:16
　あなたの家と王国はわたしの前に長く保つであろう。あなたの位は長く堅うせられる』」。

★ローマ人への手紙(4:13、16-18、22)

　なぜなら、世界を相続させるとの約束が、アブラハムとその子孫とに対してなされたのは、律法によるのではなく、信仰の義によるからである。

4:16
　このようなわけで、すべては信仰によるのである。それは恵みによるのであって、すべての子孫に、すなわち、律法に立つ者だけにではなく、アブラハムの信仰に従う者にも、この約束が保証されるのである。アブラハムは、神の前で、わたしたちすべての者の父であって、

4:17
　「わたしは、あなたを立てて多くの国民の父とした」と書いてあるとおりである。彼はこの神、すなわち、死人を生かし、無から有を呼び出される神を信じたのである。

4:18
　彼は望み得ないのに、なおも望みつつ信じた。そのために、「あなたの子孫はこうなるであろう」と言われているとおり、多くの国民の父となったのである。

4:22
　だから、彼は義と認められたのである。


◆今日の読書：ヘブル人への手紙(11:1-16)

11:1
　さて、信仰とは、望んでいる事がらを確信し、まだ見ていない事実を確認することである。

11:2
　昔の人たちは、この信仰のゆえに賞賛された。

11:3
　信仰によって、わたしたちは、この世界が神の言葉で造られたのであり、したがって、見えるものは現れているものから出てきたのでないことを、悟るのである。

11:4
　信仰によって、アベルはカインよりもまさったいけにえを神にささげ、信仰によって義なる者と認められた。神が、彼の供え物をよしとされたからである。彼は死んだが、信仰によって今もなお語っている。

11:5
　信仰によって、エノクは死を見ないように天に移された。神がお移しになったので、彼は見えなくなった。彼が移される前に、神に喜ばれた者と、あかしされていたからである。

11:6
　信仰がなくては、神に喜ばれることはできない。なぜなら、神に来る者は、神のいますことと、ご自身を求める者に報いて下さることとを、必ず信じるはずだからである。

11:7
　信仰によって、ノアはまだ見ていない事がらについて御告げを受け、恐れかしこみつつ、その家族を救うために箱舟を造り、その信仰によって世の罪をさばき、そして、信仰による義を受け継ぐ者となった。

11:8
　信仰によって、アブラハムは、受け継ぐべき地に出て行けとの召しをこうむった時、それに従い、行く先を知らないで出て行った。

11:9
　信仰によって、他国にいるようにして約束の地に宿り、同じ約束を継ぐイサク、ヤコブと共に、幕屋に住んだ。

11:10
　彼は、ゆるがぬ土台の上に建てられた都を、待ち望んでいたのである。その都をもくろみ、また建てたのは、神である。

11:11
　信仰によって、サラもまた、年老いていたが、種を宿す力を与えられた。約束をなさったかたは真実であると、信じていたからである。

11:12
　このようにして、ひとりの死んだと同様な人から、天の星のように、海べの数えがたい砂のように、おびただしい人が生れてきたのである。

11:13
　これらの人はみな、信仰をいだいて死んだ。まだ約束のものは受けていなかったが、はるかにそれを望み見て喜び、そして、地上では旅人であり寄留者であることを、自ら言いあらわした。

11:14
　そう言いあらわすことによって、彼らがふるさとを求めていることを示している。

11:15
　もしその出てきた所のことを考えていたなら、帰る機会はあったであろう。

11:16
　しかし実際、彼らが望んでいたのは、もっと良い、天にあるふるさとであった。だから神は、彼らの神と呼ばれても、それを恥とはされなかった。事実、神は彼らのために、都を用意されていたのである。

5 “Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in?

12 When your days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;

16 Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”’”

19 Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.

20 But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

4 By faith, Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had testimony given to him that he was righteous, God testifying with respect to his gifts; and through it he, being dead, still speaks.

5 By faith, Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God.

6 Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

7 By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear,*or, reverence prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

8 By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.

9 By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise.

10 For he looked for the city which has the foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

11 By faith, even Sarah herself received power to conceive, and she bore a child when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised.

12 Therefore as many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as innumerable as the sand which is by the sea shore, were fathered by one man, and him as good as dead.

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen†TR adds “and being convinced of” them and embraced them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

14 For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.

15 If indeed they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had enough time to return.

16 But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
