★ヨハネによる福音(7:40-53)

7:40
　群衆のある者がこれらの言葉を聞いて、「このかたは、ほんとうに、あの預言者である」と言い、

7:41
　ほかの人たちは「このかたはキリストである」と言い、また、ある人々は、「キリストはまさか、ガリラヤからは出てこないだろう。

7:42
　キリストは、ダビデの子孫から、またダビデのいたベツレヘムの村から出ると、聖書に書いてあるではないか」と言った。

7:43
　こうして、群衆の間にイエスのことで分争が生じた。

7:44
　彼らのうちのある人々は、イエスを捕えようと思ったが、だれひとり手をかける者はなかった。

7:45
　さて、下役どもが祭司長たちやパリサイ人たちのところに帰ってきたので、彼らはその下役どもに言った、「なぜ、あの人を連れてこなかったのか」。

7:46
　下役どもは答えた、「この人の語るように語った者は、これまでにありませんでした」。

7:47
　パリサイ人たちが彼らに答えた、「あなたがたまでが、だまされているのではないか。

7:48
　役人たちやパリサイ人たちの中で、ひとりでも彼を信じた者があっただろうか。

7:49
　律法をわきまえないこの群衆は、のろわれている」。

7:50
　彼らの中のひとりで、以前にイエスに会いにきたことのあるニコデモが、彼らに言った、

7:51
　「わたしたちの律法によれば、まずその人の言い分を聞き、その人のしたことを知った上でなければ、さばくことをしないのではないか」。

7:52
　彼らは答えて言った、「あなたもガリラヤ出なのか。よく調べてみなさい、ガリラヤからは預言者が出るものではないことが、わかるだろう」。

11:18
　主が知らせてくださったので、わたしはそれを知った。その時、あなたは彼らの悪しきわざをわたしに示された。

11:19
　しかしわたしは、ほふられに行く、おとなしい小羊のようで、彼らがわたしを害しようと、計りごとをめぐらしているのを知らなかった。彼らは言う、「さあ、木とその実を共に滅ぼそう。生ける者の地から彼を絶って、その名を人に忘れさせよう」。

11:20
　正しいさばきをし、人の心と思いを探られる万軍の主よ、わたしは自分の訴えをあなたにお任せしました。あなたが彼らにあだをかえされるのを見させてください。

　わが神、主よ、わたしはあなたに寄り頼みます。どうかすべての追い迫る者からわたしを救い、わたしをお助けください。

　さもないと彼らは、ししのように、わたしをかき裂き、助ける者の来ないうちに、引いて行くでしょう。

　主よ、わたしの義と、わたしにある誠実とに従って、わたしをさばいてください。

　どうか悪しき者の悪を断ち、正しき者を堅く立たせてください。義なる神よ、あなたは人の心と思いとを調べられます。

　わたしを守る盾は神である。神は心の直き者を救われる。

◆今日の読書：民数記(11:4-6、10-30)

11:4
　また彼らのうちにいた多くの寄り集まりびとは欲心を起し、イスラエルの人々もまた再び泣いて言った、「ああ、肉が食べたい。

11:5
　われわれは思い起すが、エジプトでは、ただで、魚を食べた。きゅうりも、すいかも、にらも、たまねぎも、そして、にんにくも。

11:6
　しかし、いま、われわれの精根は尽きた。われわれの目の前には、このマナのほか何もない」。

11:10
　モーセは、民が家ごとに、おのおのその天幕の入口で泣くのを聞いた。そこで主は激しく怒られ、またモーセは不快に思った。

11:11
　そして、モーセは主に言った、「あなたはなぜ、しもべに悪い仕打ちをされるのですか。どうしてわたしはあなたの前に恵みを得ないで、このすべての民の重荷を負わされるのですか。

11:12
　わたしがこのすべての民を、はらんだのですか。わたしがこれを生んだのですか。そうではないのに、あなたはなぜわたしに『養い親が乳児を抱くように、彼らをふところに抱いて、あなたが彼らの先祖たちに誓われた地に行け』と言われるのですか。

11:13
　わたしはどこから肉を獲て、このすべての民に与えることができましょうか。彼らは泣いて、『肉を食べさせよ』とわたしに言っているのです。

11:14
　わたしひとりでは、このすべての民を負うことができません。それはわたしには重過ぎます。

11:15
　もしわたしがあなたの前に恵みを得ますならば、わたしにこのような仕打ちをされるよりは、むしろ、ひと思いに殺し、このうえ苦しみに会わせないでください」。

11:16
　主はモーセに言われた、「イスラエルの長老たちのうち、民の長老となり、つかさとなるべきことを、あなたが知っている者七十人をわたしのもとに集め、会見の幕屋に連れてきて、そこにあなたと共に立たせなさい。

11:17
　わたしは下って、その所で、あなたと語り、またわたしはあなたの上にある霊を、彼らにも分け与えるであろう。彼らはあなたと共に、民の重荷を負い、あなたが、ただひとりで、それを負うことのないようにするであろう。

11:18
　あなたはまた民に言いなさい、『あなたがたは身を清めて、あすを待ちなさい。あなたがたは肉を食べることができるであろう。あなたがたが泣いて主の耳に、わたしたちは肉が食べたい。エジプトにいた時は良かったと言ったからである。それゆえ、主はあなたがたに肉を与えて食べさせられるであろう。

11:19
　あなたがたがそれを食べるのは、一日や二日や五日や十日や二十日ではなく、

11:20
　一か月に及び、ついにあなたがたの鼻から出るようになり、あなたがたは、それに飽き果てるであろう。それはあなたがたのうちにおられる主を軽んじて、その前に泣き、なぜ、わたしたちはエジプトから出てきたのだろうと言ったからである』」。

11:21
　モーセは言った、「わたしと共におる民は徒歩の男子だけでも六十万です。ところがあなたは、『わたしは彼らに肉を与えて一か月のあいだ食べさせよう』と言われます。

11:22
　羊と牛の群れを彼らのためにほふって、彼らを飽きさせるというのですか。海のすべての魚を彼らのために集めて、彼らを飽きさせるというのですか」。

11:23
　主はモーセに言われた、「主の手は短かろうか。あなたは、いま、わたしの言葉の成るかどうかを見るであろう」。

11:24
　この時モーセは出て、主の言葉を民に告げ、民の長老たち七十人を集めて、幕屋の周囲に立たせた。

11:25
　主は雲のうちにあって下り、モーセと語られ、モーセの上にある霊を、その七十人の長老たちにも分け与えられた。その霊が彼らの上にとどまった時、彼らは預言した。ただし、その後は重ねて預言しなかった。

11:26
　その時ふたりの者が、宿営にとどまっていたが、ひとりの名はエルダデと言い、ひとりの名はメダデといった。彼らの上にも霊がとどまった。彼らは名をしるされた者であったが、幕屋に行かなかったので、宿営のうちで預言した。

11:27
　時にひとりの若者が走ってきて、モーセに告げて言った、「エルダデとメダデとが宿営のうちで預言しています」。

11:28
　若い時からモーセの従者であったヌンの子ヨシュアは答えて言った、「わが主、モーセよ、彼らをさし止めてください」。

11:29
　モーセは彼に言った、「あなたは、わたしのためを思って、ねたみを起しているのか。主の民がみな預言者となり、主がその霊を彼らに与えられることは、願わしいことだ」。

11:30
　こうしてモーセはイスラエルの長老たちと共に、宿営に引きあげた。

18 Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you showed me their doings.

19 But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I didn’t know that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

20 But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I shall see your vengeance on them; for to you have I revealed my cause.

1 Yahweh, my God, I take refuge in you.
Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,

40 Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, “This is truly the prophet.”

41 Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?

42 Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, *2 Samuel 7:12 and from Bethlehem,†Micah 5:2 the village where David was?”

43 So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.

44 Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.

45 The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him?”

46 The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”

47 The Pharisees therefore answered them, “You aren’t also led astray, are you? 48 Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees? 49 But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is accursed.”

50 Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,

51 “Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”

52 They answered him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.‡See Isaiah 9:1 and Matthew 4:13-16. ”

4 The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “Who will give us flesh to eat?

5 We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;

6 but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”

10 Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of Yahweh was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.

11 Moses said to Yahweh, “Why have you treated with your servant so badly? Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?

12 Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?’

13 Where could I get meat to give to all this people? For they weep to me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’

14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.

15 If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”

16 Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.

17 I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.

18 “Say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you will eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, “Who will give us flesh to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you flesh, and you will eat.

19 You will not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,

20 but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because that you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”

21 Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.’

22 Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”

23 Yahweh said to Moses, “Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”

24 Moses went out, and told the people the words of Yahweh; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.

25 Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.

26 But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.

27 A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”

28 Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”

29 Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”

30 Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
