☆ルカによる福音(19:11-28)

19:11
　人々がこれらの言葉を聞いているときに、イエスはなお一つの譬をお話しになった。それはエルサレムに近づいてこられたし、また人々が神の国はたちまち現れると思っていたためである。

19:12
　それで言われた、「ある身分の高い人が、王位を受けて帰ってくるために遠い所へ旅立つことになった。

19:13
　そこで十人の僕を呼び十ミナを渡して言った、『わたしが帰って来るまで、これで商売をしなさい』。

19:14
　ところが、本国の住民は彼を憎んでいたので、あとから使者をおくって、『この人が王になるのをわれわれは望んでいない』と言わせた。

19:15
　さて、彼が王位を受けて帰ってきたとき、だれがどんなもうけをしたかを知ろうとして、金を渡しておいた僕たちを呼んでこさせた。

19:16
　最初の者が進み出て言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで十ミナをもうけました』。

19:17
　主人は言った、『よい僕よ、うまくやった。あなたは小さい事に忠実であったから、十の町を支配させる』。

19:18
　次の者がきて言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで五ミナをつくりました』。

19:19
　そこでこの者にも、『では、あなたは五つの町のかしらになれ』と言った。

19:20
　それから、もうひとりの者がきて言った、『ご主人様、さあ、ここにあなたの一ミナがあります。わたしはそれをふくさに包んで、しまっておきました。

19:21
　あなたはきびしい方で、おあずけにならなかったものを取りたて、おまきにならなかったものを刈る人なので、おそろしかったのです』。

19:22
　彼に言った、『悪い僕よ、わたしはあなたの言ったその言葉であなたをさばこう。わたしがきびしくて、あずけなかったものを取りたて、まかなかったものを刈る人間だと、知っているのか。

19:23
　では、なぜわたしの金を銀行に入れなかったのか。そうすれば、わたしが帰ってきたとき、その金を利子と一緒に引き出したであろうに』。

19:24
　そして、そばに立っていた人々に、『その一ミナを彼から取り上げて、十ミナを持っている者に与えなさい』と言った。

19:25
　彼らは言った、『ご主人様、あの人は既に十ミナを持っています』。 19:26 『あなたがたに言うが、おおよそ持っている人には、なお与えられ、持っていない人からは、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう。 19:27 しかしわたしが王になることを好まなかったあの敵どもを、ここにひっぱってきて、わたしの前で打ち殺せ』」。 19:28 イエスはこれらのことを言ったのち、先頭に立ち、エルサレムへ上って行かれた。




☆ヨハネの黙示録(4:1-11)

4:1
　その後、わたしが見ていると、見よ、開いた門が天にあった。そして、さきにラッパのような声でわたしに呼びかけるのを聞いた初めの声が、「ここに上ってきなさい。そうしたら、これから後に起るべきことを、見せてあげよう」と言った。

4:2
　すると、たちまち、わたしは御霊に感じた。見よ、御座が天に設けられており、その御座にいますかたがあった。

4:3
　その座にいますかたは、碧玉や赤めのうのように見え、また、御座のまわりには、緑玉のように見えるにじが現れていた。

4:4
　また、御座のまわりには二十四の座があって、二十四人の長老が白い衣を身にまとい、頭に金の冠をかぶって、それらの座についていた。

4:5
　御座からは、いなずまと、もろもろの声と、雷鳴とが、発していた。また、七つのともし火が、御座の前で燃えていた。これらは、神の七つの霊である。

4:6
　御座の前は、水晶に似たガラスの海のようであった。御座のそば近くそのまわりには、四つの生き物がいたが、その前にも後にも、一面に目がついていた。

4:7
　第一の生き物はししのようであり、第二の生き物は雄牛のようであり、第三の生き物は人のような顔をしており、第四の生き物は飛ぶわしのようであった。

4:8
　この四つの生き物には、それぞれ六つの翼があり、その翼のまわりも内側も目で満ちていた。そして、昼も夜も、絶え間なくこう叫びつづけていた、「聖なるかな、聖なるかな、聖なるかな、全能者にして主なる神。昔いまし、今いまし、やがてきたるべき者」。

4:9
　これらの生き物が、御座にいまし、かつ、世々限りなく生きておられるかたに、栄光とほまれとを帰し、また、感謝をささげている時、

4:10
　二十四人の長老は、御座にいますかたのみまえにひれ伏し、世々限りなく生きておられるかたを拝み、彼らの冠を御座のまえに、投げ出して言った、

4:11
　「われらの主なる神よ、あなたこそは、栄光とほまれと力とを受けるにふさわしいかた。あなたは万物を造られました。御旨によって、万物は存在し、また造られたのであります」。




☆詩編(23:1b-6)

23:1b
　わたしには乏しいことがない。

23:2
　主はわたしを緑の牧場に伏させ、いこいのみぎわに伴われる。

23:3
　主はわたしの魂をいきかえらせ、み名のためにわたしを正しい道に導かれる。

23:4
　たといわたしは死の陰の谷を歩むとも、わざわいを恐れません。あなたがわたしと共におられるからです。あなたのむちと、あなたのつえはわたしを慰めます。

23:5
　あなたはわたしの敵の前で、わたしの前に宴を設け、わたしのこうべに油をそそがれる。わたしの杯はあふれます。

23:6
　わたしの生きているかぎりは必ず恵みといつくしみとが伴うでしょう。わたしはとこしえに主の宮に住むでしょう。

9章1節
　さてデメトリオスは、ニカノルが戦死し、その軍勢が敗れたことを聞き、再度バキデスとアルキモスをユダヤに派遣した。彼らは右翼精鋭部隊を率いて行った。

9章2節
　彼らはガルガラへの道を進み、アルベラ地方にあるマイサロトに向けて陣を敷き、先手を打ってそこを攻め取り、多くの人を殺した。

9章3節
　彼らは第百五十二年の第一の月に、エルサレムに向けて陣を敷いたが、

9章4節
　更にそこから出て、二万の軍勢と二千の騎兵と共にベレトに入った。

9章5節
　ユダも、エラサに精鋭三千の兵と共に、陣を敷いていた。

9章6節
　しかしユダの軍は、敵が大軍であることを知り、すっかりおびえ、多くの者が陣を離れ、残った者はわずか八百人であった。

9章7節
　ユダは味方の兵が散ってしまい、戦局が極めて不利になったことを知った。しかし兵をかき集めるいとまもなく、ひどく狼狽した。

9章8節
　だが彼は、崩れ落ちそうになりつつも、残っている兵士たちに声をかけ、「さあ立ち上がって、敵に向かおう。勝利の余地はまだ残っている」と言った。

9章9節
　しかし兵士たちはユダを思いとどまらせようとして言った。「そんなことが我々にできるはずはありません。むしろ今は、我々自身の命を救うことです。ひとまず帰って、兄弟たちと一緒に敵と戦うべきです。我々は少なすぎます。」

9章10節
　ユダは答えた。「断じて、敵に後ろを見せてはならない。死ぬべき時が来たなら、同胞のために潔く死のうではないか。我々の栄光に汚点を残すようなことはしたくない。」

9章11節
　シリア軍は出陣し、ユダヤ軍と対決した。シリア軍の騎兵隊は二手に別れた。また投石隊や弓矢部隊が軍勢の先頭に立ったが、最前線の者は皆勇猛な者ばかりであった。

9章12節
　バキデスは右翼精鋭部隊の中におり、密集部隊が両翼から接近して、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。するとユダの軍もまた、ラッパを吹き鳴らした。

9章13節
　大地は両陣営のどよめきに震え、朝から夕方まで激しい戦いが続いた。

9章14節
　ユダは、バキデスとその部隊の中心が右翼にあることを知り、戦闘意欲の旺盛な者たちを皆率いて、

9章15節
　右翼陣営を撃破し、彼らを追撃してアゾトの丘陵地帯に至った。

9章16節
　左翼陣営は、右翼陣の壊滅を知って、向きを変え、ユダ軍の背後に迫って来た。

9章17節
　戦闘は激烈を極め、双方に多数の死傷者が出た。

9章18節
　ユダも倒れ、残った者たちは逃げ去った。

9章19節
　ヨナタンとシモンは、彼らの兄弟ユダを運び、モデインにある先祖の墓に葬った。

9章20節
　イスラエル人は皆、彼のために号泣し、激しく胸を打ちたたき、何日も何日も悲嘆に暮れて言った。

9章21節
　「ああ、イスラエルを救う勇士は倒れた。」

9章22節
　ユダの行ったさまざまの業績、彼の戦い、その大胆さ、その偉大さは、書き尽くすことができない。あまりにも多すぎるのである。

+ First Reading: Titus 3:1-7

1 Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,

2 to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.

3 For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared,

5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

6 whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

7 that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

14 When he saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” As they went, they were cleansed.

15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice.

16 He fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks; and he was a Samaritan.

17 Jesus answered, “Weren’t the ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

18 Were there none found who returned to give glory to God, except this stranger?”

19 Then he said to him, “Get up, and go your way. Your faith has healed you.”

1 And Demetrius heard that Nicanor was fallen with his forces in battle, and he sent Bacchides and Alcimus again into the land of Judah a second time, and the right wing of his army with them:

2 and they went by the way that leads to Gilgal, and encamped against Mesaloth, which is in Arbela, and got possession of it, and destroyed much people.

3 And the first month of * the hundred and fifty and second year they encamped against Jerusalem:

4 and they removed, and went to Berea, with twenty thousand footmen and two thousand horse.

5 And Judas was encamped at Elasa, and three thousand chosen men with him:

6 and they saw the multitude of the forces, that they were many, and they feared exceedingly: and many slipped away out of the army; there were not left of them more than eight hundred men.

7 And Judas saw that his army slipped away, and that the battle pressed upon him, and he was sore troubled in heart, for that he had no time to gather them together, and he waxed faint.

8 And he said to them that were left, Let us arise and go up against our adversaries, if perhaps we may be able to fight with them.

9 And they would have dissuaded him, saying, We shall in no wise be able: but let us rather save our lives now: let us return again, we and our brethren, and fight against them: but we are few.

10 And Judas said, let it not be so that I should do this thing, to flee from them: and if our time is come, let us die manfully for our brethren's sake, and not leave a cause of reproach against our glory.

11 And the host removed from the camp, and stood to encounter them, and the horse was parted into two companies, and the slingers and the archers went before the host, and all the mighty men that fought in the front of the battle.

12 But Bacchides was in the right wing; and the phalanx drew near on the two parts, and they blew with their trumpets.

13 And the men of Judas' side, even they sounded with their trumpets, and the earth shook with the shout of the armies, and the battle was joined, and continued from morning until evening.

14 And Judas saw that Bacchides and the strength of his army were on the right side, and there went with him all that were brave in heart,

15 and the right wing was discomfited by them, and he pursued after them to the mount Azotus.

16 And they that were on the left wing saw that the right wing was discomfited, and they turned and followed upon the footsteps of Judas and of those that were with him:

17 and the battle waxed sore, and many on both parts fell wounded to death.

18 And Judas fell, and the rest fled.

19 And Jonathan and Simon took Judas their brother, and buried him in the sepulchre of his fathers at Modin.

20 And they bewailed him, and all Israel made great lamentation for him, and mourned many days, and said,

21 How is the mighty fallen, the savior of Israel!

22 And the rest of the acts of Judas, and his wars, and the valiant deeds which he did, and his greatness, they are not written; for they were exceeding many.
