また、祈る場合、異邦人のように、くどくどと祈るな。彼らは言葉かずが多ければ、聞きいれられるものと思っている。
6:8
だから、彼らのまねをするな。あなたがたの父なる神は、求めない先から、あなたがたに必要なものはご存じなのである。
6:9
だから、あなたがたはこう祈りなさい、
天にいますわれらの父よ、
御名があがめられますように。
6:10
御国がきますように。
みこころが天に行われるとおり、
地にも行われますように。
6:11
わたしたちの日ごとの食物を、
きょうもお与えください。
6:12
わたしたちに負債のある者をゆるしましたように、
わたしたちの負債をもおゆるしください。
6:13
わたしたちを試みに会わせないで、
悪しき者からお救いください。
6:14
もしも、あなたがたが、人々のあやまちをゆるすならば、あなたがたの天の父も、あなたがたをゆるして下さるであろう。
6:15
もし人をゆるさないならば、あなたがたの父も、あなたがたのあやまちをゆるして下さらないであろう。

シラ書〔集会の書〕 48:1-14
48章1節
そして火のような預言者エリヤが登場した。彼の言葉は松明のように燃えていた。
48章2節
彼は人々に飢饉をもたらし、その熱意をもって人々の数を減らした。
48章3節
彼は主の言葉によって天を閉ざし、三度、火を降らせた。
48章4節
エリヤよ、あなたはその驚くべき業のゆえに、どれほどほめたたえられたことだろうか。あなたと等しく誇りうる者があろうか。
48章5節
あなたはいと高き方の言葉によって死者を死から、陰府から立ち上がらせた。
48章6節
あなたは王たちを破滅に導き、名士たちを安眠の床から引きずり降ろした。
48章7節
あなたはシナイ山で非難の言葉を聞き、また、ホレブの山で裁きの宣告を聞いて、
48章8節
王たちに油を注いで報復させ、預言者たちに油を注いで後継者とした。
48章9節
あなたは火の旋風に包まれ、火の馬の引く車に乗せられ天に上げられた。
48章10節
あなたは、書き記されているとおり、定められた時に備える者。神の怒りが激しくなる前に、これを静め、父の心を子に向けさせ、ヤコブの諸部族を立て直す者。
48章11節
あなたを見る者、また、愛のうちに眠りについた者は幸いである。確かに、わたしたちも生きるであろう。
48章12節
エリヤが旋風の中に姿を隠したとき、エリシャはエリヤの霊に満たされた。彼は生涯、どんな支配者にも動ずることなく、だれからも力で抑えつけられることはなかった。
48章13節
彼にとって手に余ることは何もなく、死後もその体は預言の力を失わなかった。
48章14節
彼は生きている間、不思議な業を行い、死後もなお驚くべき業を行った。

2:10
ダリヨスの二年の九月二十四日に、主の言葉が預言者ハガイに臨んだ、

「万軍の主はこう言われる、律法について祭司たちに尋ねて言え、

『人がその衣服のすそで聖なる肉を運んで行き、そのすそがもし、パンまたはあつもの、または酒、または油、またはどんな食物にでもさわったなら、それらは聖なるものとなるか』と」。祭司たちは「ならない」と答えた。
2:13
ハガイはまた言った、「もし、死体によって汚れた人が、これらの一つにさわったなら、それは汚れるか」。祭司たちは「汚れる」と答えた。
2:14
そこで、ハガイは言った、「主は言われる、この民も、この国も、わたしの前では、そのようである。またその手のわざもそのようである。その所で彼らのささげるものは、汚れたものである。
2:15
今、あなたがたはこの日から、後の事を思うがよい。主の宮で石の上に石が積まれなかった前、あなたがたは、どんなであったか。
2:16
あの時には、二十枡の麦の積まれる所に行ったが、わずかに十枡を得、また五十桶をくもうとして、酒ぶねに行ったが、二十桶を得たのみであった。
2:17
わたしは立ち枯れと、腐り穂と、ひょうをもってあなたがたと、あなたがたのすべての手のわざを撃った。しかし、あなたがたは、わたしに帰らなかったと主は言われる。
2:18
あなたがたはこの日より後、すなわち、九月二十四日よりの事を思うがよい。また主の宮の基をすえた日から後の事を心にとめるがよい。
2:19
種はなお、納屋にあるか。ぶどうの木、いちじくの木、ざくろの木、オリブの木もまだ実を結ばない。しかし、わたしはこの日から、あなたがたに恵みを与える」。
2:20
この月の二十四日に、主の言葉がふたたびハガイに臨んだ、
2:21
「ユダの総督ゼルバベルに告げて言え、わたしは天と地を震う。
2:22
わたしは国々の王位を倒し、異邦の国々の力を滅ぼし、また戦車、およびこれに乗る者を倒す。馬およびこれに乗る者は、たがいにその仲間のつるぎによって倒れる。
2:23
万軍の主は言われる、シャルテルの子、わがしもべゼルバベルよ、主は言われる、その日、わたしはあなたを立て、あなたを印章のようにする。わたしはあなたを選んだからであると、万軍の主は言われる」。

8 Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him.
9 Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
10 Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
13 Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’*
14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Sirach 48:1-14
1 Also there arose Elijah the prophet as fire,
And his word burnt like a torch:
2 Who brought a famine upon them,
And by his zeal made them few in number.
3 By the word of the Lord he shut up the heaven:
Thrice did he thus bring down fire.
4 How was you glorified, O Elijah, in your wondrous deeds!
And who shall glory like to you?
5 Who did raise up a dead man from death,
And from * the place of the dead, by the word of the Most High:
6 Who brought down kings to destruction,
And honourable men from their bed:
7 Who heard rebuke in Sinai,
And judgements of vengeance in Horeb:
8 Who anointed kings for retribution,
And prophets to succeed after him:
9 Who was taken up in a tempest of fire,
In a chariot of fiery horses:
10 Who was recorded for reproofs in their seasons,
To pacify anger, before it brake forth into wrath;
To turn the heart of the father to the son,
And to restore the tribes of Jacob.
11 Blessed are they that saw you,
And they that have been beautified with love;
For we also shall surely live.
12 Elijah it was, who was wrapped in a tempest:
And Elisha was filled with his spirit;
And in all his days he was not moved by the fear of any ruler,
And no one brought him into subjection.
13 † Nothing was too high for him;
And when he was laid on sleep his body prophesied.
14 As in his life he did wonders,
So in death were his works marvellous.
