ヨハネによる福音 8:31-42
イエスは自分を信じたユダヤ人たちに言われた、「もしわたしの言葉のうちにとどまっておるなら、あなたがたは、ほんとうにわたしの弟子なのである。
また真理を知るであろう。そして真理は、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろう」。
そこで、彼らはイエスに言った、「わたしたちはアブラハムの子孫であって、人の奴隷になったことなどは、一度もない。どうして、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろうと、言われるのか」。
イエスは彼らに答えられた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。すべて罪を犯す者は罪の奴隷である。
そして、奴隷はいつまでも家にいる者ではない。しかし、子はいつまでもいる。
だから、もし子があなたがたに自由を得させるならば、あなたがたは、ほんとうに自由な者となるのである。
わたしは、あなたがたがアブラハムの子孫であることを知っている。それだのに、あなたがたはわたしを殺そうとしている。わたしの言葉が、あなたがたのうちに根をおろしていないからである。
わたしはわたしの父のもとで見たことを語っているが、あなたがたは自分の父から聞いたことを行っている」。
彼らはイエスに答えて言った、「わたしたちの父はアブラハムである」。イエスは彼らに言われた、「もしアブラハムの子であるなら、アブラハムのわざをするがよい。

☆今日の『み言葉』
ヨハネによる福音 8:31-42
偏見やプライドは、真理をつかむ妨げになってしまう。ユダヤ人たちは真理を前にしながらも真理を拒否する。信仰者にとって真理を知るとはどういうことだろう。私たちも同じ過ちを犯してはいないだろうか。
最近、ある宗教学者がこういう話をしてくれた。「宗教者や信仰者にとって必要だと思う理性とは、ある特殊な立場とか利害関心を越えて、普遍的に妥当性があるようなものにどのように開かれていくかということだと思います。もちろん自分が今持っている立場とか信念といったものは正しいと思っているから信じているはずですが、でもそれだけではないかもしれない、他に何かがあるかもしれない、という思いも持っているようなバランス感覚のようなものが必要な理性ではないと思います」。
イエスを知ること、把握することは何かに凝り固まってしまうことではなく、普遍的に妥当性があるものに開かれていくこと、つまり自由になることだ。

8:31
イエスは自分を信じたユダヤ人たちに言われた、「もしわたしの言葉のうちにとどまっておるなら、あなたがたは、ほんとうにわたしの弟子なのである。
8:32
また真理を知るであろう。そして真理は、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろう」。
8:33

ネブカデネザルは彼らに言った、「シャデラク、メシャク、アベデネゴよ、あなたがたがわが神々に仕えず、またわたしの立てた金の像を拝まないとは、ほんとうなのか。
3:15
あなたがたがもし、角笛、横笛、琴、三角琴、立琴、風笛などの、もろもろの楽器の音を聞くときにひれ伏して、わたしが立てた像を、ただちに拝むならば、それでよろしい。しかし、拝むことをしないならば、ただちに火の燃える炉の中に投げ込まれる。いったい、どの神が、わたしの手からあなたがたを救うことができようか」。

シャデラク、メシャクおよびアベデネゴは王に答えて言った、「ネブカデネザルよ、この事について、お答えする必要はありません。
3:17
もしそんなことになれば、わたしたちの仕えている神は、その火の燃える炉から、わたしたちを救い出すことができます。また王よ、あなたの手から、わたしたちを救い出されます。
3:18
たといそうでなくても、王よ、ご承知ください。わたしたちはあなたの神々に仕えず、またあなたの立てた金の像を拝みません」。

そこでネブカデネザルは怒りに満ち、シャデラク、メシャクおよびアベデネゴにむかって、顔色を変え、炉を平常よりも七倍熱くせよと命じた。

またその軍勢の中の力の強い人々を呼んで、シャデラク、メシャクおよびアベデネゴを縛って、彼らを火の燃える炉の中に投げ込めと命じた。

その時、ネブカデネザル王は驚いて急ぎ立ちあがり、大臣たちに言った、「われわれはあの三人を縛って、火の中に投げ入れたではないか」。彼らは王に答えて言った、「王よ、そのとおりです」。

王は答えて言った、「しかし、わたしの見るのに四人の者がなわめなしに、火の中を歩いているが、なんの害をも受けていない。その第四の者の様子は神の子のようだ」。

ネブカデネザルは言った、「シャデラク、メシャク、アベデネゴの神はほむべきかな。神はその使者をつかわして、自分に寄り頼むしもべらを救った。また彼らは自分の神以外の神に仕え、拝むよりも、むしろ王の命令を無視し、自分の身をも捨てようとしたのだ。

Gospel : John 8:31-42
31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.
32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” ☆
33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s offspring,‡ and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.
35 A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever.
36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
37 I know that you are Abraham’s offspring,§ yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.
38 I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.”
39 They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.”
Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this.
41 You do the works of your father.”
They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”
42 Therefore Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me.

14 Nebuchadnezzar answered them, Is it on purpose, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don’t serve my god, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15 Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, good: but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the middle of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
17 If it happens, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.
19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his appearance was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.
20 He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste: he spoke and said to his counsellors, Didn’t we cast three men bound into the middle of the fire? They answered the king, True, O king.
25 He answered, Look, I see four men loose, walking in the middle of the fire, and they are unharmed; and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of the gods.
28 Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
