ルカによる福音 1:39-56
そのころ、マリヤは立って、大急ぎで山里へむかいユダの町に行き、
ザカリヤの家にはいってエリサベツにあいさつした。
エリサベツがマリヤのあいさつを聞いたとき、その子が胎内でおどった。エリサベツは聖霊に満たされ、
声高く叫んで言った、「あなたは女の中で祝福されたかた、あなたの胎の実も祝福されています。
主の母上がわたしのところにきてくださるとは、なんという光栄でしょう。
ごらんなさい。あなたのあいさつの声がわたしの耳にはいったとき、子供が胎内で喜びおどりました。
主のお語りになったことが必ず成就すると信じた女は、なんとさいわいなことでしょう」。
するとマリヤは言った、
「わたしの魂は主をあがめ、
わたしの霊は救主なる神をたたえます。
この卑しい女をさえ、心にかけてくださいました。
今からのち代々の人々は、わたしをさいわいな女と言うでしょう、
力あるかたが、わたしに大きな事をしてくださったからです。
そのみ名はきよく、
そのあわれみは、代々限りなく
主をかしこみ恐れる者に及びます。
主はみ腕をもって力をふるい、
心の思いのおごり高ぶる者を追い散らし、
権力ある者を王座から引きおろし、
卑しい者を引き上げ、
飢えている者を良いもので飽かせ、
富んでいる者を空腹のまま帰らせなさいます。
主は、あわれみをお忘れにならず、
その僕イスラエルを助けてくださいました、
わたしたちの父祖アブラハムとその子孫とを
とこしえにあわれむと約束なさったとおりに」。
マリヤは、エリサベツのところに三か月ほど滞在してから、家に帰った。

☆今日の『み言葉』
ルカによる福音 1:39-56
あまりにも有名な場面です。身重のマリアが、山里のでこぼこ道を、急ぎ足で先輩にあたるエリサベトを訪ねられた時の状況が描かれています。
エリサベトという鏡に写されたマリアは、そこに自分に与えられた神の恵みをはっきりと見ることができ、神を賛美したのです。
この賛美は、突然、口をついて出たのではなく、マリアの心に蓄積された瞑想の数々が祈りのことばになったと考えられます。たとえば、サムエル記のハンナの祈りもそうです。それが今日の食卓を飾った「マグニフィカト」です。
旧約聖書のこのような素材が、身分の低い者、飢えた者に対する神の憐れみを称えるマリアの祈りとなったのです。
食卓の味わいは、二人の身に起こった聖霊のひびきをもたらしました。マリアに生じた聖霊の実りは、エリサベトの胎内の子を喜び躍らせたのです。聖霊のこだまが、み言葉の味をひきたたせます。

Gospel : Luke 1:39-56
39 Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,
40 and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.
41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby lept in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 She called out with a loud voice, and said, “Blessed are you amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43 Why am I so favoured, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby lept in my womb for joy!
45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfilment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!”
46 Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord.
47 My spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour,
48 for he has looked at the humble state of his servant.
For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed.
49 For he who is mighty has done great things for me.
Holy is his name.
50 His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him.
51 He has shown strength with his arm.
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 He has put down princes from their thrones.
And has exalted the lowly.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things.
He has sent the rich away empty.

16 In that day, it will be said to Jerusalem, “Don’t be afraid, Zion. Don’t let your hands be weak.”

しばらくすれば、あなたがたはもうわたしを見なくなる。しかし、またしばらくすれば、わたしに会えるであろう」。
そこで、弟子たちのうちのある者は互に言い合った、「『しばらくすれば、わたしを見なくなる。またしばらくすれば、わたしに会えるであろう』と言われ、『わたしの父のところに行く』と言われたのは、いったい、どういうことなのであろう」。
彼らはまた言った、「『しばらくすれば』と言われるのは、どういうことか。わたしたちには、その言葉の意味がわからない」。
イエスは、彼らが尋ねたがっていることに気がついて、彼らに言われた、「しばらくすればわたしを見なくなる、またしばらくすればわたしに会えるであろうと、わたしが言ったことで、互に論じ合っているのか。
よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。あなたがたは泣き悲しむが、この世は喜ぶであろう。あなたがたは憂えているが、その憂いは喜びに変るであろう。

☆今日の『み言葉』
ヨハネによる福音 16:16-20
「あなた方の悲しみは喜びに変わる」と主は言われました。しかし、たとえ主の受難・死・復活といった救いのできごとが、歴史上ただ一回限りのことだとしても、それによって全ての人が完全に、一遍に救われたわけではありません。救いは、私たち一人ひとりにおいては、時を選んで「折に適って」与えられるものです。救いというものは私たちの気付きを待ちつつ、少しずつ（段階を踏んで）体験されていくものです。私たちの生活に、依然として喜びと悲しみが混在しているのは、そのためです。
では、弟子たちが悲しみから喜びへと乗り換えることができたのは、どうしてだったでしょうか？それは「苦しみの理解」を通してです。弟子たちは、苦しみの裏に隠された意味を知ることで救いを体験しています。もし私たちが「人々に救いをもたらしたい」と考えるのならば、意味の見え難い苦しみを極力排除し、必要な苦しみの意味が見えやすくなるように務めることです。その過程で、自身もいくつもの救いを体験することができます。

「あなた方の悲しみは喜びに変わる」と主は言われました。しかし、たとえ主の受難・死・復活といった救いのできごとが、歴史上ただ一回限りのことだとしても、それによって全ての人が完全に、一遍に救われたわけではありません。救いは、私たち一人ひとりにおいては、時を選んで「折に適って」与えられるものです。救いというものは私たちの気付きを待ちつつ、少しずつ（段階を踏んで）体験されていくものです。私たちの生活に、依然として喜びと悲しみが混在しているのは、そのためです。
では、弟子たちが悲しみから喜びへと乗り換えることができたのは、どうしてだったでしょうか？それは「苦しみの理解」を通してです。弟子たちは、苦しみの裏に隠された意味を知ることで救いを体験しています。もし私たちが「人々に救いをもたらしたい」と考えるのならば、意味の見え難い苦しみを極力排除し、必要な苦しみの意味が見えやすくなるように務めることです。その過程で、自身もいくつもの救いを体験することができます。

パウロは彼らのところに行ったが、互に同業であったので、その家に住み込んで、一緒に仕事をした。天幕造りがその職業であった。

16 A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”
17 Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father’?”
18 They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what he is saying.”
19 Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you enquire amongst yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’
20 Most certainly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

Acts 18:1-8
1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth.
2 He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,
3 and because he practised the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.
4 He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded Jews and Greeks.
5 But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.
6 When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”
7 He departed there, and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshipped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.
8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptised.

私たちはどうでしょうか？周囲の人々に自分の思いを無理強いしようとしてはいないでしょうか？そのことによって「どうして理解できないのか！」と苛立ちを覚えることはありませんか？また自分自身に対しても無理をしていませんか？そうではなく、聖霊の働きに素直に自分をゆだねましょう。それこそがイエスが私たちに望んでおられることではないかと思います。イエスは私たち一人ひとりに「焦ることはない、ゆっくり進めばいいんだよ。ありのままのあなたでいいのだよ」と今日も語っておられます。

パウロを案内した人たちは、彼をアテネまで連れて行き、テモテとシラスとになるべく早く来るようにとのパウロの伝言を受けて、帰った。

そこでパウロは、アレオパゴスの評議所のまん中に立って言った。
「アテネの人たちよ、あなたがたは、あらゆる点において、すこぶる宗教心に富んでおられると、わたしは見ている。

実は、わたしが道を通りながら、あなたがたの拝むいろいろなものを、よく見ているうちに、『知られない神に』と刻まれた祭壇もあるのに気がついた。そこで、あなたがたが知らずに拝んでいるものを、いま知らせてあげよう。

この世界と、その中にある万物とを造った神は、天地の主であるのだから、手で造った宮などにはお住みにならない。

また、何か不足でもしておるかのように、人の手によって仕えられる必要もない。神は、すべての人々に命と息と万物とを与え、

また、ひとりの人から、あらゆる民族を造り出して、地の全面に住まわせ、それぞれに時代を区分し、国土の境界を定めて下さったのである。

こうして、人々が熱心に追い求めて捜しさえすれば、神を見いだせるようにして下さった。事実、神はわれわれひとりびとりから遠く離れておいでになるのではない。

われわれは神のうちに生き、動き、存在しているからである。あなたがたのある詩人たちも言ったように、
『われわれも、確かにその子孫である』。

このように、われわれは神の子孫なのであるから、神たる者を、人間の技巧や空想で金や銀や石などに彫り付けたものと同じと、見なすべきではない。

神は、このような無知の時代を、これまでは見過ごしにされていたが、今はどこにおる人でも、みな悔い改めなければならないことを命じておられる。

「アテネの人たちよ、あなたがたは、あらゆる点において、すこぶる宗教心に富んでおられると、わたしは見ている。

実は、わたしが道を通りながら、あなたがたの拝むいろいろなものを、よく見ているうちに、『知られない神に』と刻まれた祭壇もあるのに気がついた。そこで、あなたがたが知らずに拝んでいるものを、いま知らせてあげよう。

この世界と、その中にある万物とを造った神は、天地の主であるのだから、手で造った宮などにはお住みにならない。
17:25
また、何か不足でもしておるかのように、人の手によって仕えられる必要もない。神は、すべての人々に命と息と万物とを与え、

また、ひとりの人から、あらゆる民族を造り出して、地の全面に住まわせ、それぞれに時代を区分し、国土の境界を定めて下さったのである。
17:27
こうして、人々が熱心に追い求めて捜しさえすれば、神を見いだせるようにして下さった。事実、神はわれわれひとりびとりから遠く離れておいでになるのではない。

われわれは神のうちに生き、動き、存在しているからである。あなたがたのある詩人たちも言ったように、
『われわれも、確かにその子孫である』。
17:29
このように、われわれは神の子孫なのであるから、神たる者を、人間の技巧や空想で金や銀や石などに彫り付けたものと同じと、見なすべきではない。
17:30
神は、このような無知の時代を、これまでは見過ごしにされていたが、今はどこにおる人でも、みな悔い改めなければならないことを命じておられる。
17:31
神は、義をもってこの世界をさばくためその日を定め、お選びになったかたによってそれをなし遂げようとされている。すなわち、このかたを死人の中からよみがえらせ、その確証をすべての人に示されたのである」。
17:32
死人のよみがえりのことを聞くと、ある者たちはあざ笑い、またある者たちは、「この事については、いずれまた聞くことにする」と言った。

こうして、パウロは彼らの中から出て行った。

しかし、彼にしたがって信じた者も、幾人かあった。その中には、アレオパゴスの裁判人デオヌシオとダマリスという女、また、その他の人々もいた。

14 He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.
15 All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes† of mine, and will declare it to you.

17:15 But those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens. Receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy that they should come to him very quickly, they departed.
18:22 Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus, and said, “You men of Athens, I perceive that you are very religious in all things.
23 For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ What therefore you worship in ignorance, this I announce to you.
24 The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands,
25 neither is he served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things.
26 He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings,
27 that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
28 ‘For in him we live, and move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’
29 Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.
30 The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent,
31 because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; of which he has given assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the dead.”
32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked; but others said, “We want to hear you again concerning this.”
33 Thus Paul went out from amongst them.
34 But certain men joined with him, and believed, amongst whom also was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

けれども今わたしは、わたしをつかわされたかたのところに行こうとしている。しかし、あなたがたのうち、だれも『どこへ行くのか』と尋ねる者はない。
かえって、わたしがこれらのことを言ったために、あなたがたの心は憂いで満たされている。
しかし、わたしはほんとうのことをあなたがたに言うが、わたしが去って行くことは、あなたがたの益になるのだ。わたしが去って行かなければ、あなたがたのところに助け主はこないであろう。もし行けば、それをあなたがたにつかわそう。
それがきたら、罪と義とさばきとについて、世の人の目を開くであろう。
罪についてと言ったのは、彼らがわたしを信じないからである。
義についてと言ったのは、わたしが父のみもとに行き、あなたがたは、もはやわたしを見なくなるからである。

ヨハネによる福音 16:5-11
喜びのうちに復活節を過ごしている私たちに、間近に迫る聖霊降臨の祝日に備えるようにとの呼びかけを感じさせる福音が朗読されます。
イエス様は私たちを守り、弁護するお方を送ることを約束してくださいます。このお方こそ、聖霊なる神様、マタイ１０章１８節〜１９節で「私のために総統や王の前に引き出されて、彼らや異邦人に証しをすることになる。引き渡されたとき、何をどう言おうかと心配してはならない。そのときには言うべきことを教える」お方として提示されている。
また、ロマ８章２６節で「“霊”も弱い私たちを助けてくださいます。私たちはどう祈るべきを知りませんが、“霊”自らが、ことばに表せないうめきをもって執り成してくださる」お方として提示されます。
そしてヨハネは親しみをこめて「弁護者」と呼び、私たちの日々の営みをリードし支えてくれるお方として紹介してくれます。（ヨハネ１４章１５節、２６節、１５章２６節参照）私たちはこのお方に身をゆだね、かかわる人にやさしさを配りながら日々の営みを生きることが求められているようです。

それで、ふたりに何度もむちを加えさせたのち、獄に入れ、獄吏にしっかり番をするようにと命じた。

獄吏はこの厳命を受けたので、ふたりを奥の獄屋に入れ、その足に足かせをしっかとかけておいた。
16:25
真夜中ごろ、パウロとシラスとは、神に祈り、さんびを歌いつづけたが、囚人たちは耳をすまして聞きいっていた。
16:26
ところが突然、大地震が起って、獄の土台が揺れ動き、戸は全部たちまち開いて、みんなの者の鎖が解けてしまった。
16:27
獄吏は目をさまし、獄の戸が開いてしまっているのを見て、囚人たちが逃げ出したものと思い、つるぎを抜いて自殺しかけた。
16:28
そこでパウロは大声をあげて言った、「自害してはいけない。われわれは皆ひとり残らず、ここにいる」。

すると、獄吏は、あかりを手に入れた上、獄に駆け込んできて、おののきながらパウロとシラスの前にひれ伏した。

それから、ふたりを外に連れ出して言った、「先生がた、わたしは救われるために、何をすべきでしょうか」。

ふたりが言った、「主イエスを信じなさい。そうしたら、あなたもあなたの家族も救われます」。

それから、彼とその家族一同とに、神の言を語って聞かせた。
16:33
彼は真夜中にもかかわらず、ふたりを引き取って、その打ち傷を洗ってやった。そして、その場で自分も家族も、ひとり残らずバプテスマを受け、

5 But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
6 But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counsellor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
8 When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgement;
9 about sin, because they don’t believe in me;
10 about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;
11 about judgement, because the prince of this world has been judged.

22 The multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates tore their clothes off of them, and commanded them to be beaten with rods.
23 When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely,

28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, “Don’t harm yourself, for we are all here!”
29 He called for lights, sprang in, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas, 30 brought them out, and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
32 They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.
33 He took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes, and was immediately baptised, he and all his household.

5 But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
6 But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counsellor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
8 When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgement;
9 about sin, because they don’t believe in me;
10 about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;
11 about judgement, because the prince of this world has been judged.

今日のヨハネの福音は、私たちがキリスト者として、「証し人」となるように常に招かれているということを思い出させてくれます。
普通、裁判などで「証人」であるためには、自分が目撃したこと、自分の知っている確固とした事実を主張するわけですが、私たちはどんな事実、真実を主張するのでしょう。
私たちは、イエス様の証人といっても、イエス様に会ってこの目で見たわけではありません。しかし、私たちはイエス様を通して確かに神様の愛を体験しているわけで、このことを事実・真実を証しするのです。でも、これも私たちの弁護者と呼ばれる聖霊の働き、助けがあってのことです。
イエス様の弟子たちに遣わされて働かれた同じ聖霊が、私たちの内でもいつも働き、私たちが「証人」として力強く、神様の愛を証ししていけるよう、その恵みを求めて祈るように致しましょう。

27 You will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
16:1 “These things have I spoken to you, so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.
3 They will do these things* because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4a But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them.
*15:26: Greek Parakletos: Counsellor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, and Comforter.
*16:3: TR adds “to you”

12 and from there to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the foremost of the district, a Roman colony. We were staying some days in this city.
13 On the Sabbath day we went outside of the city by a riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down, and spoke to the women who had come together.
14 A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshipped God, heard us; whose heart the Lord opened to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.
15 When she and her household were baptised, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and stay.” So she persuaded us.

使徒行伝 15:1-2, 22-29

さて、ある人たちがユダヤから下ってきて、兄弟たちに「あなたがたも、モーセの慣例にしたがって割礼を受けなければ、救われない」と、説いていた。
15:2
そこで、パウロやバルナバと彼らとの間に、少なからぬ紛糾と争論とが生じたので、パウロ、バルナバそのほか数人の者がエルサレムに上り、使徒たちや長老たちと、この問題について協議することになった。
15:22
そこで、使徒たちや長老たちは、全教会と協議した末、お互の中から人々を選んで、パウロやバルナバと共に、アンテオケに派遣することに決めた。選ばれたのは、バルサバというユダとシラスとであったが、いずれも兄弟たちの間で重んじられていた人たちであった。
15:23
この人たちに託された書面はこうである。
「あなたがたの兄弟である使徒および長老たちから、アンテオケ、シリヤ、キリキヤにいる異邦人の兄弟がたに、あいさつを送る。
15:24
こちらから行ったある者たちが、わたしたちからの指示もないのに、いろいろなことを言って、あなたがたを騒がせ、あなたがたの心を乱したと伝え聞いた。

そこで、わたしたちは人々を選んで、愛するバルナバおよびパウロと共に、あなたがたのもとに派遣することに、衆議一決した。
15:26
このふたりは、われらの主イエス・キリストの名のために、その命を投げ出した人々であるが、

彼らと共に、ユダとシラスとを派遣する次第である。この人たちは、あなたがたに、同じ趣旨のことを、口頭でも伝えるであろう。

23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.
24 He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.
25 I have said these things to you, while still living with you.
26 But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.
27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
28 You heard how I told you, ‘I go away, and I come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I.
29 Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe.

1 Some men came down from Judea and taught the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised after the custom of Moses, you can’t be saved.”
2 Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul and Barnabas, and some others of them, to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.
22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole assembly, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men amongst the brothers. ‡
23 They wrote these things by their hand:
“The apostles, the elders, and the brothers, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: greetings.
24 Because we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, ‘You must be circumcised and keep the law,’ to whom we gave no commandment;
25 it seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves will also tell you the same things by word of mouth.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things:
29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell.”

10 He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, as if it were a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 having a great and high wall; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
13 On the east were three gates; and on the north three gates; and on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.
22 I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, and the Lamb, are its temple.

ヨハネによる福音 15:18-21
もしこの世があなたがたを憎むならば、あなたがたよりも先にわたしを憎んだことを、知っておくがよい。
もしあなたがたがこの世から出たものであったなら、この世は、あなたがたを自分のものとして愛したであろう。しかし、あなたがたはこの世のものではない。かえって、わたしがあなたがたをこの世から選び出したのである。だから、この世はあなたがたを憎むのである。
わたしがあなたがたに『僕はその主人にまさるものではない』と言ったことを、おぼえていなさい。もし人々がわたしを迫害したなら、あなたがたをも迫害するであろう。また、もし彼らがわたしの言葉を守っていたなら、あなたがたの言葉をも守るであろう。
彼らはわたしの名のゆえに、あなたがたに対してすべてそれらのことをするであろう。それは、わたしをつかわされたかたを彼らが知らないからである。

☆今日の『み言葉』
ヨハネによる福音 15:18-21
ヨハネ１５章のイエスのことばには、１世紀後半にヨハネのグループがユダヤ教から現実的に受けていた迫害がその歴史的背景にあると言われています。ヨハネのグループはユダヤ教の会堂から追放され、ユダヤ教から異端宣告を受けます。つまり実際に「世から憎まれた」のです。その結果、ヨハネのグループから脱落し、キリスト教から離れていく者、迫害から目を背けるために「かくれキリスト信者」になる者が出てきた訳です。それだけにヨハネの共同体は、その迫害を耐え忍び、ヨハネのグループに属する信者達が最後まで「イエスと言う幹につながる枝である」よう励まします。この１世紀後半の状況を理解すると今日の福音箇所「人々がわたしを迫害したのであれば、あなたがたをも迫害する」ということばも容易に理解していけるでしょう。現実に迫害の憂いに遭っていたのです。
今、現代社会の中で私たちはキリスト者であるという理由で、この世から迫害を受けることはありません。但し、大いに注意しなければならないのは、この世とは別の生き方をしているわけではなく、むしろ、この世と全く同じあり方をして、信仰生活を生きていないかという部分です。つまり、この世と同じあり方をしているので、この世から何とも思われていないカトリックになっていないかを考えなくてはいけません。

今、現代社会の中で私たちはキリスト者であるという理由で、この世から迫害を受けることはありません。但し、大いに注意しなければならないのは、この世とは別の生き方をしているわけではなく、むしろ、この世と全く同じあり方をして、信仰生活を生きていないかという部分です。つまり、この世と同じあり方をしているので、この世から何とも思われていないカトリックになっていないかを考えなくてはいけません。

Gospel : John 15:18-21
18 If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’☆ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.

1 He came to Derbe and Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess who believed; but his father was a Greek.
2 The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.
3 Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts; for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
4 As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered the decrees to them to keep which had been ordained by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem.
5 So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6 When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.
7 When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit didn’t allow them.
8 Passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.
9 A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him, and saying, “Come over into Macedonia and help us.”
10 When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the Good News to them.

「わたしの命じることを行うならば、あなたがたはわたしの友である。」とイエスは弟子たちに語る。その命じることとは、「わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、互いに愛し合いなさい。」ということである。この愛の掟を守ることによって、弟子たちはイエスの友と呼ばれる。
イエスは、弟子たちを愛にますます駆り立てる。ご自分の死期が迫っていることを察していたからであろうか。ご自分の使命を弟子たちに託しているかのようである。
きっとそうだったのであろう。「わたしはあなたがたを友と呼ぶ。」という。なぜならば、「父から聞いたことをすべてあなたがたに知らせたからである。」
『友』と呼ばれるのは嬉しいことである。しかし、イエスから託された使命は、もの凄く大きなものであり、人間一人の力だけでは到底実現できないようなものである。だからこそ、「互いに」に意味があり、またその使命は神の助け無しには実現できない。イエスも父なる神とともに働き数々のことを行ったように、弟子たちもイエスとともにあって、互いに愛し合って行く時にイエスから託された使命を生きることができた。
イエスが弟子たちに与えた使命は弟子たちだけのものだろうか。現代のキリスト者、わたしたちにも当てはまることだと思う。
「わたしがあなたがたを選んだ」とのイエスのことばに信頼して「互いに愛し合う」という使命を実らせるように努めたい。イエスから「友」として神の国に迎えていただく日まで。

そこで、使徒たちや長老たちは、全教会と協議した末、お互の中から人々を選んで、パウロやバルナバと共に、アンテオケに派遣することに決めた。選ばれたのは、バルサバというユダとシラスとであったが、いずれも兄弟たちの間で重んじられていた人たちであった。

この人たちに託された書面はこうである。
「あなたがたの兄弟である使徒および長老たちから、アンテオケ、シリヤ、キリキヤにいる異邦人の兄弟がたに、あいさつを送る。

そこで、使徒たちや長老たちは、全教会と協議した末、お互の中から人々を選んで、パウロやバルナバと共に、アンテオケに派遣することに決めた。選ばれたのは、バルサバというユダとシラスとであったが、いずれも兄弟たちの間で重んじられていた人たちであった。
15:23
この人たちに託された書面はこうである。
「あなたがたの兄弟である使徒および長老たちから、アンテオケ、シリヤ、キリキヤにいる異邦人の兄弟がたに、あいさつを送る。
15:24
こちらから行ったある者たちが、わたしたちからの指示もないのに、いろいろなことを言って、あなたがたを騒がせ、あなたがたの心を乱したと伝え聞いた。
15:25
そこで、わたしたちは人々を選んで、愛するバルナバおよびパウロと共に、あなたがたのもとに派遣することに、衆議一決した。
15:26
このふたりは、われらの主イエス・キリストの名のために、その命を投げ出した人々であるが、
15:27
彼らと共に、ユダとシラスとを派遣する次第である。この人たちは、あなたがたに、同じ趣旨のことを、口頭でも伝えるであろう。
15:28
すなわち、聖霊とわたしたちとは、次の必要事項のほかは、どんな負担をも、あなたがたに負わせないことに決めた。
15:29
それは、偶像に供えたものと、血と、絞め殺したものと、不品行とを、避けるということである。これらのものから遠ざかっておれば、それでよろしい。以上」。
15:30
さて、一行は人々に見送られて、アンテオケに下って行き、会衆を集めて、その書面を手渡した。
15:31
人々はそれを読んで、その勧めの言葉をよろこんだ。

12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
14 You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.
15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.
16 You didn’t choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
17 “I command these things to you, that you may love one another.

22 Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole assembly, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men amongst the brothers. ‡
23 They wrote these things by their hand:
“The apostles, the elders, and the brothers, to the brothers who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: greetings.
24 Because we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, ‘You must be circumcised and keep the law,’ to whom we gave no commandment;
25 it seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves will also tell you the same things by word of mouth.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things:
29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell.”
30 So, when they were sent off, they came to Antioch. Having gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter. 31 When they had read it, they rejoiced over the encouragement.
‡15:22: The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”

☆今日の『み言葉』
ヨハネによる福音 15:9-11
復活節に読まれる福音朗読は、そのほとんどが私たちとイエスとの、そして私たちと父なる神との関わりを、年間よりもさらに深く表現しています。もちろん年間に読まれる箇所もあるのですが、復活節に読まれるというだけで、普段とは何か違った趣を感じるのです。
「わたしの愛にとどまりなさい。」
「わたしの愛にとどまっているように。」
「わたしの愛にとどまっていることになる。」
“とどまる”という言葉が今日の短い箇所のうちに３回も使われています。わたしたちがイエスの愛にとどまっていることがいかに大切なことか。このことをイエスが何度も何度も強調したのは、わたしたちがイエスの愛から離れようとすることがいかに多いかということだと思います。
そんなわたしたちをイエスの愛に引き戻してくれるのは、十字架上で示されたイエスのわたしたちに対する愛そのものです。

激しい争論があった後、ペテロが立って言った、「兄弟たちよ、ご承知のとおり、異邦人がわたしの口から福音の言葉を聞いて信じるようにと、神は初めのころに、諸君の中からわたしをお選びになったのである。

そして、人の心をご存じである神は、聖霊をわれわれに賜わったと同様に彼らにも賜わって、彼らに対してあかしをなし、
15:9
また、その信仰によって彼らの心をきよめ、われわれと彼らとの間に、なんの分けへだてもなさらなかった。
15:10
しかるに、諸君はなぜ、今われわれの先祖もわれわれ自身も、負いきれなかったくびきをあの弟子たちの首にかけて、神を試みるのか。
15:11
確かに、主イエスのめぐみによって、われわれは救われるのだと信じるが、彼らとても同様である」。
15:12
すると、全会衆は黙ってしまった。それから、バルナバとパウロとが、彼らをとおして異邦人の間に神が行われた数々のしるしと奇跡のことを、説明するのを聞いた。

ふたりが語り終えた後、ヤコブはそれに応じて述べた、「兄弟たちよ、わたしの意見を聞いていただきたい。

9 Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love.
10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.
11 I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.

Acts 15:7-21
7 When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice amongst you, that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News, and believe.
8 God, who knows the heart, testified about them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just like he did to us.
9 He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, † just as they are.”
12 All the multitude kept silence, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul reporting what signs and wonders God had done amongst the nations through them.
13 After they were silent, James answered, “Brothers, listen to me.
14 Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 This agrees with the words of the prophets. As it is written,
16 ‘After these things I will return.
I will again build the tabernacle of David, which has fallen.
I will again build its ruins.
I will set it up,
17 That the rest of men may seek after the Lord;
all the Gentiles who are called by my name,
says the Lord, who does all these things.?
18 All of God’s works are known to him from eternity.’
19 “Therefore my judgement is that we don’t trouble those from amongst the Gentiles who turn to God,
20 but that we write to them that they abstain from the pollution of idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.
21 For Moses from generations of old has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

7 When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice amongst you, that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News, and believe.
8 God, who knows the heart, testified about them, giving them the Holy Spirit, just like he did to us.
9 He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, † just as they are.”
12 All the multitude kept silence, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul reporting what signs and wonders God had done amongst the nations through them.
13 After they were silent, James answered, “Brothers, listen to me.
14 Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations, to take out of them a people for his name.
15 This agrees with the words of the prophets. As it is written,
16 ‘After these things I will return.
I will again build the tabernacle of David, which has fallen.
I will again build its ruins.
I will set it up,
17 That the rest of men may seek after the Lord;
all the Gentiles who are called by my name,
says the Lord, who does all these things.?
18 All of God’s works are known to him from eternity.’
19 “Therefore my judgement is that we don’t trouble those from amongst the Gentiles who turn to God,
20 but that we write to them that they abstain from the pollution of idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.
21 For Moses from generations of old has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

わたしにつながっている枝で実を結ばないものは、父がすべてこれをとりのぞき、実を結ぶものは、もっと豊かに実らせるために、手入れしてこれをきれいになさるのである。
あなたがたは、わたしが語った言葉によって既にきよくされている。
わたしにつながっていなさい。そうすれば、わたしはあなたがたとつながっていよう。枝がぶどうの木につながっていなければ、自分だけでは実を結ぶことができないように、あなたがたもわたしにつながっていなければ実を結ぶことができない。

イエスは弟子たち（イエスと共に歩む者「わたしでありあなたです。」）に言われました。一番大切なことは「私に繋がっている」ことです。具体的に言えば、イエスの言葉があなた方の内にいつもある状態、すなわち、いつも意識して生きることを求めています。
私たちの人生、生き方の中心に『イエス・キリスト』がおり、『父である神』がいるようにしなさい。繋がり続けることができれば、イエス・キリストが受け取った大きな実りが約束されます。しかし、手を離してしまうと、実を持つことができません。また中心に何も存在しないならば、道さえ見えない闇の中にいるだけです。昔から大切だと教えられてきたものがあるかもしれませんが、本当に大切なことは、イエス・キリストを心に刻み、イエス・キリストが歩んだように、生きることです。

15:2
そこで、パウロやバルナバと彼らとの間に、少なからぬ紛糾と争論とが生じたので、パウロ、バルナバそのほか数人の者がエルサレムに上り、使徒たちや長老たちと、この問題について協議することになった。
15:3
彼らは教会の人々に見送られ、ピニケ、サマリヤをとおって、道すがら、異邦人たちの改宗の模様をくわしく説明し、すべての兄弟たちを大いに喜ばせた。
15:4
エルサレムに着くと、彼らは教会と使徒たち、長老たちに迎えられて、神が彼らと共にいてなされたことを、ことごとく報告した。
15:5
ところが、パリサイ派から信仰にはいってきた人たちが立って、「異邦人にも割礼を施し、またモーセの律法を守らせるべきである」と主張した。

15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.
2 Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3 You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
6 If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burnt.
7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.
8 “In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.

15:1 Some men came down from Judea and taught the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised after the custom of Moses, you can’t be saved.”
2 Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul and Barnabas, and some others of them, to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.
3 They, being sent on their way by the assembly, passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles. They caused great joy to all the brothers.*
4 When they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the assembly and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all things that God had done with them.
5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”
6 The apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter.
*15:3: The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.”

ヨハネによる福音 14:27-31a
「わたしは、平和をあなたがたに残し、わたしの平和を与える」・・・この言葉は、ミサの中で唱えられるイエスの３つのことばのうちの一つです。聖体の制定句以外に、イエスの言葉はこれだけです。それほどに大きな、そして意味のある言葉なのです。「イエスの平和」とは何でしょうか？それは何の駆け引きもない徹底したものでしょう。イエスの一方的な犠牲の上に打ち立てられる「平和」です。「与える愛、痛む愛」によってのみ打ち立てられる平和です。だから、世が与えるようには決して与えられないのです。私たちが求める「平和」とは何でしょうか。私たちが作り出せる「平和」とは何でしょうか？もう一度考えてみたいと思います。

「わたしは、平和をあなたがたに残し、わたしの平和を与える」・・・この言葉は、ミサの中で唱えられるイエスの３つのことばのうちの一つです。聖体の制定句以外に、イエスの言葉はこれだけです。それほどに大きな、そして意味のある言葉なのです。「イエスの平和」とは何でしょうか？それは何の駆け引きもない徹底したものでしょう。イエスの一方的な犠牲の上に打ち立てられる「平和」です。「与える愛、痛む愛」によってのみ打ち立てられる平和です。だから、世が与えるようには決して与えられないのです。私たちが求める「平和」とは何でしょうか。私たちが作り出せる「平和」とは何でしょうか？もう一度考えてみたいと思います。
