☆今日の聖書物語 *
マタイによる福音 25:14-30
また天国は、ある人が旅に出るとき、その僕どもを呼んで、自分の財産を預けるようなものである。
すなわち、それぞれの能力に応じて、ある者には五タラント、ある者には二タラント、ある者には一タラントを与えて、旅に出た。
五タラントを渡された者は、すぐに行って、それで商売をして、ほかに五タラントをもうけた。
二タラントの者も同様にして、ほかに二タラントをもうけた。
しかし、一タラントを渡された者は、行って地を掘り、主人の金を隠しておいた。
だいぶ時がたってから、これらの僕の主人が帰ってきて、彼らと計算をしはじめた。
すると五タラントを渡された者が進み出て、ほかの五タラントをさし出して言った、『ご主人様、あなたはわたしに五タラントをお預けになりましたが、ごらんのとおり、ほかに五タラントをもうけました』。
主人は彼に言った、『良い忠実な僕よ、よくやった。あなたはわずかなものに忠実であったから、多くのものを管理させよう。主人と一緒に喜んでくれ』。
二タラントの者も進み出て言った、『ご主人様、あなたはわたしに二タラントをお預けになりましたが、ごらんのとおり、ほかに二タラントをもうけました』。
主人は彼に言った、『良い忠実な僕よ、よくやった。あなたはわずかなものに忠実であったから、多くのものを管理させよう。主人と一緒に喜んでくれ』。

そこで恐ろしさのあまり、行って、あなたのタラントを地の中に隠しておきました。ごらんください。ここにあなたのお金がございます』。
すると、主人は彼に答えて言った、『悪い怠惰な僕よ、あなたはわたしが、まかない所から刈り、散らさない所から集めることを知っているのか。
それなら、わたしの金を銀行に預けておくべきであった。そうしたら、わたしは帰ってきて、利子と一緒にわたしの金を返してもらえたであろうに。
さあ、そのタラントをこの者から取りあげて、十タラントを持っている者にやりなさい。
おおよそ、持っている人は与えられて、いよいよ豊かになるが、持っていない人は、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう。
この役に立たない僕を外の暗い所に追い出すがよい。彼は、そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう』。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マタイによる福音 25:14-30
イエスの話された喩えは幾つかあるが、その中で間違いなく人の心を打つ喩えがある。良いサマリア人の話し、失われた息子の話、失われた羊の話。この喩えが明かす神の愛と赦す心は全ての人を感動させる。きょうの福音のタラントンの喩えも、その一つである。外の闇に投げ出されて泣き叫ぶ、役立たずとされた僕は、実は１タラントンも与えられていたのである。それは当時の一般労働者の20年分にあたる賃金なのだ。彼は決して軽んじられていたわけではない。十二分の力が与えられていた。だから厳しく責任を問われたのである。
私たちは神から出て神に帰る旅をしている。旅に必要なものは全て与えられている、とこの喩えは云っている。他人を見て羨ましく思ってはならない。それよりも自分が何を頂いているかを調べてみよう。そこに計り知れない神の恵みと導きを、きっと見出すだろう。神に感謝！

Gospel : Matthew 25:14-30
14 “For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them.
15 To one he gave five talents,† to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
16 Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17 In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two.
18 But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 “Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them.
20 He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.’
21 “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22 “He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.’

そこで天国は、十人のおとめがそれぞれあかりを手にして、花婿を迎えに出て行くのに似ている。
その中の五人は思慮が浅く、五人は思慮深い者であった。
思慮の浅い者たちは、あかりは持っていたが、油を用意していなかった。
しかし、思慮深い者たちは、自分たちのあかりと一緒に、入れものの中に油を用意していた。
花婿の来るのがおくれたので、彼らはみな居眠りをして、寝てしまった。
夜中に、『さあ、花婿だ、迎えに出なさい』と呼ぶ声がした。
そのとき、おとめたちはみな起きて、それぞれあかりを整えた。
ところが、思慮の浅い女たちが、思慮深い女たちに言った、『あなたがたの油をわたしたちにわけてください。わたしたちのあかりが消えかかっていますから』。
すると、思慮深い女たちは答えて言った、『わたしたちとあなたがたとに足りるだけは、多分ないでしょう。店に行って、あなたがたの分をお買いになる方がよいでしょう』。
彼らが買いに出ているうちに、花婿が着いた。そこで、用意のできていた女たちは、花婿と一緒に婚宴のへやにはいり、そして戸がしめられた。
そのあとで、ほかのおとめたちもきて、『ご主人様、ご主人様、どうぞ、あけてください』と言った。
しかし彼は答えて、『はっきり言うが、わたしはあなたがたを知らない』と言った。
だから、目をさましていなさい。その日その時が、あなたがたにはわからないからである。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マタイによる福音 25:1-13
この喩え話しを読んで、「五人の賢い乙女と、五人の愚かな乙女」ではなく、「油を人に分けない五人の意地悪な乙女と、分けてもらえなかった五人の可哀想な乙女」の話だと感じる人もいるようです。そのような方々の為に、喩え話の背景である、1世紀当時のユダヤ地方に於ける村の結婚式の習慣を理解しましょう。
先ず結婚式は夜中に行われましたので松明(たいまつ)は必須です。また、花婿が花嫁を迎える為に彼女の家に向かう慣わしだったので、花嫁側は介添えの友人たちと一緒に自分の家で花婿が迎えに来るのを待ちました。「10人の乙女」とは、花嫁の介添えの友人たちを指しています。そして時計などない御時勢ですから、花婿が時間通りに来る事などあり得ず、到着が遅れる事態などしばしばだったようです。イエスが油を用意した乙女たちを評価したのは、予備の油を準備して花婿を迎えた事です。但し、前述した時代背景で、花婿到着が定刻であるはずがあり得ない時代状況を知れば、予備の油を準備するなど当然の事と理解出来るでしょう。そこで「なぜ油を分けなかったのか？」以上に、「なぜ油を準備しなかったのか？」と考える方がより現実的な発想法と言えるでしょう。
しかし、ここでは敢えて「なぜ油を分けなかったのか？」と言う発想方法をヒントにして考えてみましょう。そこには、この油が「人に分ける事が出来ないもの」を意味しているからではないでしょうか。例えば「その人自身の生き方・与えられたその人の命・その人に与えられたタレント」です。自分の人生を誰か別の人が代わりに生きる事など不可能ですし、命そのものや、タレントそのものを他者に譲渡する事も出来ません。人間には他者に分け与える事が出来ない、自分にしか全う出来ない尊いものがあるのです。その全てを、花婿であるイエスが来られる（＝終末の）為に準備していく事が、この喩え話しの中で「油」という形で表されているのかもしれません。続く「タラントンの喩え」(14-30節)でも、各々の戴いたタラントンを三人の僕たちも分け合わなかったように、己にしか灯す事が出来ない「油」や「タレント」があるのです。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マタイによる福音 25:1-13
この喩え話しを読んで、「五人の賢い乙女と、五人の愚かな乙女」ではなく、「油を人に分けない五人の意地悪な乙女と、分けてもらえなかった五人の可哀想な乙女」の話だと感じる人もいるようです。そのような方々の為に、喩え話の背景である、1世紀当時のユダヤ地方に於ける村の結婚式の習慣を理解しましょう。
先ず結婚式は夜中に行われましたので松明(たいまつ)は必須です。また、花婿が花嫁を迎える為に彼女の家に向かう慣わしだったので、花嫁側は介添えの友人たちと一緒に自分の家で花婿が迎えに来るのを待ちました。「10人の乙女」とは、花嫁の介添えの友人たちを指しています。そして時計などない御時勢ですから、花婿が時間通りに来る事などあり得ず、到着が遅れる事態などしばしばだったようです。イエスが油を用意した乙女たちを評価したのは、予備の油を準備して花婿を迎えた事です。但し、前述した時代背景で、花婿到着が定刻であるはずがあり得ない時代状況を知れば、予備の油を準備するなど当然の事と理解出来るでしょう。そこで「なぜ油を分けなかったのか？」以上に、「なぜ油を準備しなかったのか？」と考える方がより現実的な発想法と言えるでしょう。
しかし、ここでは敢えて「なぜ油を分けなかったのか？」と言う発想方法をヒントにして考えてみましょう。そこには、この油が「人に分ける事が出来ないもの」を意味しているからではないでしょうか。例えば「その人自身の生き方・与えられたその人の命・その人に与えられたタレント」です。自分の人生を誰か別の人が代わりに生きる事など不可能ですし、命そのものや、タレントそのものを他者に譲渡する事も出来ません。人間には他者に分け与える事が出来ない、自分にしか全う出来ない尊いものがあるのです。その全てを、花婿であるイエスが来られる（＝終末の）為に準備していく事が、この喩え話しの中で「油」という形で表されているのかもしれません。続く「タラントンの喩え」(14-30節)でも、各々の戴いたタラントンを三人の僕たちも分け合わなかったように、己にしか灯す事が出来ない「油」や「タレント」があるのです。

花婿の来るのがおくれたので、彼らはみな居眠りをして、寝てしまった。

Gospel : Matthew 25:1-13
1 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3 Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.*
8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
10 While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.
11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12 But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13 Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
*25:7: The end of the wick of an oil lamp needs to be cut off periodically to avoid having it become clogged with carbon deposits. The wick height is also adjusted so that the flame burns evenly and gives good light without producing a lot of smoke.

1 Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.
2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,
4 that each one of you know how to control his own body* in sanctification and honour,
5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God;
6 that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.
7 For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.
8 Therefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

☆今日の聖書物語 *
マルコによる福音 6:17-29
このヘロデは、自分の兄弟ピリポの妻ヘロデヤをめとったが、そのことで、人をつかわし、ヨハネを捕えて獄につないだ。
それは、ヨハネがヘロデに、「兄弟の妻をめとるのは、よろしくない」と言ったからである。
そこで、ヘロデヤはヨハネを恨み、彼を殺そうと思っていたが、できないでいた。
それはヘロデが、ヨハネは正しくて聖なる人であることを知って、彼を恐れ、彼に保護を加え、またその教を聞いて非常に悩みながらも、なお喜んで聞いていたからである。
ところが、よい機会がきた。ヘロデは自分の誕生日の祝に、高官や将校やガリラヤの重立った人たちを招いて宴会を催したが、
そこへ、このヘロデヤの娘がはいってきて舞をまい、ヘロデをはじめ列座の人たちを喜ばせた。そこで王はこの少女に「ほしいものはなんでも言いなさい。あなたにあげるから」と言い、
さらに「ほしければ、この国の半分でもあげよう」と誓って言った。
そこで少女は座をはずして、母に「何をお願いしましょうか」と尋ねると、母は「バプテスマのヨハネの首を」と答えた。
するとすぐ、少女は急いで王のところに行って願った、「今すぐに、バプテスマのヨハネの首を盆にのせて、それをいただきとうございます」。
王は非常に困ったが、いったん誓ったのと、また列座の人たちの手前、少女の願いを退けることを好まなかった。
そこで、王はすぐに衛兵をつかわし、ヨハネの首を持って来るように命じた。衛兵は出て行き、獄中でヨハネの首を切り、
盆にのせて持ってきて少女に与え、少女はそれを母にわたした。
ヨハネの弟子たちはこのことを聞き、その死体を引き取りにきて、墓に納めた。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マルコによる福音 6:17-29
今日の福音を読んでいると、洗礼者ヨハネ殺害の凄惨な光景が目に浮かんでくるのですが、このとき、ヨハネ自身の気持ちはどうだったのでしょうか。つまり、自分が今ここで死ななければならないことを悟ったとき、何を思ったのだろうか、ということです。こんなつまらないことで生涯を終えることになるなんて・・・、と思ったのか。それとも、神から任せられた自分の役割は十分果たした、と思ったのか。
ヨハネが死の間際に何を思ったのか、なぜかそのことがとても気になりました。福音書はヨハネの最期そのものについては非常に簡潔にしか描いていません。そんなことはどうでもいいかもしれないのですが・・・。
今日の福音には、自分の本音を表明できずに周りに翻弄されるヘロデが登場します。洗礼者ヨハネはこのヘロデの弱さに翻弄されます。いつの時代の殉教者も周り（時代・政治・紛争）に翻弄されるのですが、そのような中にあってヘロデのように自分を見失うのではなく、ヨハネのように神に任せられた務めをしっかりと認識し、それを受けとめ、最後まで全うする姿勢をわたしたちも培って参りましょう。

Gospel : Mark 6:17-29
17 For Herod himself had sent out and arrested John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for he had married her.
18 For John said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”
19 Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him, but she couldn’t,
20 for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he did many things, and he heard him gladly.
21 Then a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday made a supper for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of Galilee.
22 When the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and those sitting with him. The king said to the young lady, “Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”
23 He swore to her, “Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.”
24 She went out, and said to her mother, “What shall I ask?”
She said, “The head of John the Baptiser.”
25 She came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptiser on a platter.”
26 The king was exceedingly sorry, but for the sake of his oaths, and of his dinner guests, he didn’t wish to refuse her.
27 Immediately the king sent out a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring John’s head, and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the young lady; and the young lady gave it to her mother.
29 When his disciples heard this, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

このようにあなたがたも、外側は人に正しく見えるが、内側は偽善と不法とでいっぱいである。
偽善な律法学者、パリサイ人たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。あなたがたは預言者の墓を建て、義人の碑を飾り立てて、こう言っている、
『もしわたしたちが先祖の時代に生きていたなら、預言者の血を流すことに加わってはいなかっただろう』と。
このようにして、あなたがたは預言者を殺した者の子孫であることを、自分で証明している。
あなたがたもまた先祖たちがした悪の枡目を満たすがよい。

今日の福音の、27節と29節に出てくる「･･･不幸だ」という言葉は、もともと「ウーアイ」という呻きの声だったそうです。
いったいイエズス様はここで、律法学者、ファリザイ人など当時、最も模範的な信仰生活をしていた人々の何を指摘しながら、「ウーアイ」という嘆きの言葉を発せられたのでしょうか。
25節にその説明があります。「杯と皿との外側は清めるが、内側は貪欲と放縦とで満ちている」。28節では「偽善と不法」と指摘されています。
渡辺善太という旧約聖書の学者さんは「教会には偽善者が日常的に生まれる。それは避けられない、むしろ歓迎すべきだ」と言っていたそうです。それは開き直りの言葉ではなくて、人間である限り人の目を気にする弱い人間であることを踏まえたうえで、それでもなお、神の前に立ち、神のまなざしの前に自分の弱さとおろかさを悟る必要を説いたのだといえます。
大阪玉造にある大阪女学院中･高の校門にラテン語で「神を畏れることは知恵のはじめ」という旧約聖書の言葉が書かれていますが、それも上記のことに通じるのではないかと思います。

27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,
30 and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’
31 Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.
32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.

偽善な律法学者、パリサイ人たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。はっか、いのんど、クミンなどの薬味の十分の一を宮に納めておりながら、律法の中でもっと重要な、公平とあわれみと忠実とを見のがしている。それもしなければならないが、これも見のがしてはならない。
盲目な案内者たちよ。あなたがたは、ぶよはこしているが、らくだはのみこんでいる。
偽善な律法学者、パリサイ人たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。杯と皿との外側はきよめるが、内側は貪欲と放縦とで満ちている。
盲目なパリサイ人よ。まず、杯の内側をきよめるがよい。そうすれば、外側も清くなるであろう。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マタイによる福音 23:23-26
イエスは、律法学者たちとファリサイ派の人々に対して、「あなたたち偽善者は不幸だ」(マタイ23・23)と言う。何故に不幸なのだろうか。それは、ごく僅かな物にも厳しく課税する彼らが、『正義・慈悲・誠実』という人間に関する最も重要な事柄をないがしろにしているからである。さらに、イエスは「内側をきれいにせよ」とも言う。
不幸に陥らない為にはどうしたら良いのだろうか。それは、『正義・慈悲・誠実』を蔑ろにしない。そして、「内側をきれいに」するということであろう。
イエスは、第2の掟として「隣人を自分のように愛しなさい」(マタイ22・39)と言うが、まさにこのことに結び付く内容である。「隣人を自分のように愛する」「他者を大事にする」という言葉の響きは素晴らしいが、いざ実行するとなると非常に難しさを感じる事であろう。いやむしろ、出来ないという絶望感にさえ苛まれることであろう。
それでも、イエスは、わたしたちに望んでおられるのであって、受け入れない訳にはいかない。ならば、主の助けによってその招きに一歩一歩近づけるように祈りながら前進したい。兎でなくて亀でもよい。確かな道を歩みたい。

24 You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.‡‡
26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.
††23:23: cumin is an aromatic seed from Cuminum cyminum, resembling caraway in flavour and appearance. It is used as a spice.
‡‡23:25: TR reads “self-indulgence” instead of “unrighteousness”

4 But even as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts.
5 For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness (God is witness),
6 nor seeking glory from men (neither from you nor from others), when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.
7 But we were gentle amongst you, like a nursing mother cherishes her own children.
8 Even so, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you, not the Good News of God only, but also our own souls, because you had become very dear to us.

〔偽善な律法学者、パリサイ人たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。あなたがたは、やもめたちの家を食い倒し、見えのために長い祈をする。だから、もっときびしいさばきを受けるに違いない。〕
偽善な律法学者、パリサイ人たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。あなたがたはひとりの改宗者をつくるために、海と陸とを巡り歩く。そして、つくったなら、彼を自分より倍もひどい地獄の子にする。
盲目な案内者たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。あなたがたは言う、『神殿をさして誓うなら、そのままでよいが、神殿の黄金をさして誓うなら、果す責任がある』と。

マタイによる福音 23:13-22
「あなたたち偽善者は不幸だ」。なんときついみ言葉。イエスはかつて「７つの幸い」を語られたのですが、今日は「７つの不幸」を説かれ、今日のミサではその１部が朗読されます。
真剣に黙想していたら居たたまれなくなって穴があれば入りたいくらいです。身をつまされると言うか、人ごととは思いきれません。
そこでこの言葉はどのように訳されているか、手元にある聖書を取り出して調べてみました。個人訳も含めた９種類の聖書で、「わざわいだ」のニュアンスのあるのが４つ。「不幸だ」が２つ。「のるわれよ」、「いまわしい」、「なげかわしい」とさまざまでした。

13 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretence you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
14 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter.‡
15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of Gehenna§ as yourselves.
16 “Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’
17 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
18 ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’
19 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
20 He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it.
21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who was living** in it.
22 He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.

家の主人が立って戸を閉じてしまってから、あなたがたが外に立ち戸をたたき始めて、『ご主人様、どうぞあけてください』と言っても、主人はそれに答えて、『あなたがたがどこからきた人なのか、わたしは知らない』と言うであろう。
そのとき、『わたしたちはあなたとご一緒に飲み食いしました。また、あなたはわたしたちの大通りで教えてくださいました』と言い出しても、

家の主人が立って戸を閉じてしまってから、あなたがたが外に立ち戸をたたき始めて、『ご主人様、どうぞあけてください』と言っても、主人はそれに答えて、『あなたがたがどこからきた人なのか、わたしは知らない』と言うであろう。

そのとき、『わたしたちはあなたとご一緒に飲み食いしました。また、あなたはわたしたちの大通りで教えてくださいました』と言い出しても、

彼は、『あなたがたがどこからきた人なのか、わたしは知らない。悪事を働く者どもよ、みんな行ってしまえ』と言うであろう。

すべての訓練は、当座は、喜ばしいものとは思われず、むしろ悲しいものと思われる。しかし後になれば、それによって鍛えられる者に、平安な義の実を結ばせるようになる。
12:12
それだから、あなたがたのなえた手と、弱くなっているひざとを、まっすぐにしなさい。
12:13
また、足のなえている者が踏みはずすことなく、むしろいやされるように、あなたがたの足のために、まっすぐな道をつくりなさい。

Gospel: Luke 13:22-30
22 He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and travelling on to Jerusalem.
23 One said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?”
He said to them,
24 “Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able.
25 When once the master of the house has risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ then he will answer and tell you, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’
27 He will say, ‘I tell you, I don’t know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’
28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets, in God’s Kingdom, and yourselves being thrown outside.
29 They will come from the east, west, north, and south, and will sit down in God’s Kingdom. 30 Behold, there are some who are last who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last.”

18 “For I know their works and their thoughts. The time comes that I will gather all nations and languages, and they will come, and will see my glory.
19 “I will set a sign amongst them, and I will send those who escape of them to the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to far-away islands, who have not heard my fame, nor have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory amongst the nations.
20 They shall bring all your brothers out of all the nations for an offering to the LORD, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on camels, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the LORD, as the children of Israel bring their offering in a clean vessel into the LORD’s house.
21 Of them I will also select priests and Levites,” says the LORD.

Hebrews 12:5-7, 11-13
5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children,
“My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord,
nor faint when you are reproved by him;
6 For whom the Lord loves, he chastens,
and scourges every son whom he receives.”☆
7 It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?
11 All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby.
12 Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees, ☆
13 and make straight paths for your feet,☆ so that which is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

ヨハネによる福音 1:45-51
このピリポがナタナエルに出会って言った、「わたしたちは、モーセが律法の中にしるしており、預言者たちがしるしていた人、ヨセフの子、ナザレのイエスにいま出会った」。
ナタナエルは彼に言った、「ナザレから、なんのよいものが出ようか」。ピリポは彼に言った、「きて見なさい」。
イエスはナタナエルが自分の方に来るのを見て、彼について言われた、「見よ、あの人こそ、ほんとうのイスラエル人である。その心には偽りがない」。
ナタナエルは言った、「どうしてわたしをご存じなのですか」。イエスは答えて言われた、「ピリポがあなたを呼ぶ前に、わたしはあなたが、いちじくの木の下にいるのを見た」。
ナタナエルは答えた、「先生、あなたは神の子です。あなたはイスラエルの王です」。
イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたが、いちじくの木の下にいるのを見たと、わたしが言ったので信じるのか。これよりも、もっと大きなことを、あなたは見るであろう」。
また言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。天が開けて、神の御使たちが人の子の上に上り下りするのを、あなたがたは見るであろう」。

☆今日の『み言葉』
ヨハネによる福音 1:45-51
ヨハネの福音は、「はじめにことばがあった」から始まる福音書ですが、その後洗礼者ヨハネによるイエスの紹介、そして弟子の召命物語になります。
ナタナエルという人物がバルトロマイに当たります。フィリッポが「来て、見なさい」と言ったのをきっかけに、ナタナエルはイエスと出会います。そして、自分がイエスを知る前から自分のことをイエスが知っていたことを知り、イエスについていくことになります。様々な召命物語がありますが、ナタナエルの場合、2つのポイントが挙げられます。一つは、フィリッポがイエスを紹介したこと、つまり自分で探してそうなったのではなく、自分を越えた招きがあったということです。もう一つは、もうイエスはナタナエルを知っていたということです。先行する神の招き、神の愛というキリスト教の基本原理が出ています。私たちの想像以上に神は先立って私たちを配慮してくださっているということ。
このことを私たちがどのくらい生活の中で実感できるか、それが信仰を深める大きな要因になると思います。どうか私たち一人一人が、この神の配慮に日常の中で少しでも気付くことができますように。

☆今日の『み言葉』
ヨハネによる福音 1:45-51

さて、パリサイ人たちは、イエスがサドカイ人たちを言いこめられたと聞いて、一緒に集まった。
そして彼らの中のひとりの律法学者が、イエスをためそうとして質問した、
「先生、律法の中で、どのいましめがいちばん大切なのですか」。
イエスは言われた、「『心をつくし、精神をつくし、思いをつくして、主なるあなたの神を愛せよ』。
これがいちばん大切な、第一のいましめである。
第二もこれと同様である、『自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ』。
これらの二つのいましめに、律法全体と預言者とが、かかっている」。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マタイによる福音 22:34-40
日本人は、赤ちゃんが生まれた時、「健康で、人さまに迷惑をかけないような子に育ってくれればいい」と思う親が多い。そこには「自分が迷惑に思うようなことを人にしてはいけない」ということが重要なのだという価値観がある。
しかし、今日の福音で、イエスは、そのような消極的な言い方ではなく、「神を愛しなさい」、「隣人を愛しなさい」という積極的な言い方をしている。消極的な言い方だと、これはしていけない、これもいけないという細かい規定を作らざるをえなくなり、それらに縛られることになってしまう。そして他人を裁くことにもつながり、自由ではない。
「神と隣人を愛する」という積極的な言い方への転換は、生き方の基準や中心を自分にではなく、「神と隣人を愛すること」に置くということである。キリスト者の生き方というのはこういうものだ。イエス自身がこれを実践していた。イエスは、隣人を愛するがゆえに、安息日の細かい規定なども相対化していた。愛のゆえに、自分へのこだわりからも、この世からもまったく自由であった。私たちも何かを決断する時、また自分たちの在り方を探し求める時、その基準は「神と隣人を愛する」ということでなければならない。

マタイによる福音 22:1-14
イエスはまた、譬で彼らに語って言われた、
「天国は、ひとりの王がその王子のために、婚宴を催すようなものである。
王はその僕たちをつかわして、この婚宴に招かれていた人たちを呼ばせたが、その人たちはこようとはしなかった。
そこでまた、ほかの僕たちをつかわして言った、『招かれた人たちに言いなさい。食事の用意ができました。牛も肥えた獣もほふられて、すべての用意ができました。さあ、婚宴においでください』。
しかし、彼らは知らぬ顔をして、ひとりは自分の畑に、ひとりは自分の商売に出て行き、
またほかの人々は、この僕たちをつかまえて侮辱を加えた上、殺してしまった。
そこで王は立腹し、軍隊を送ってそれらの人殺しどもを滅ぼし、その町を焼き払った。
それから僕たちに言った、『婚宴の用意はできているが、招かれていたのは、ふさわしくない人々であった。
だから、町の大通りに出て行って、出会った人はだれでも婚宴に連れてきなさい』。
そこで、僕たちは道に出て行って、出会う人は、悪人でも善人でもみな集めてきたので、婚宴の席は客でいっぱいになった。
王は客を迎えようとしてはいってきたが、そこに礼服をつけていないひとりの人を見て、
彼に言った、『友よ、どうしてあなたは礼服をつけないで、ここにはいってきたのですか』。しかし、彼は黙っていた。
そこで、王はそばの者たちに言った、『この者の手足をしばって、外の暗やみにほうり出せ。そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう』。
招かれる者は多いが、選ばれる者は少ない」。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マタイによる福音 22:1-14
今日の福音にあるたとえ話は、「天の国」が例えられているようですが、２，３回読んだくらいではなかなか分からないものかもしれません。むしろ、なんかこれおかしくない？と素直に受け止められない気持ちさえ抱きそうです。特に最後の部分に…。一体何を云わんとしているのでしょう。
婚宴は「天の国（神様の愛）」、招かれていた人々は、「祭司長や長老たち」、後から招かれた人々は、それ以外の「すべての人々」が例えられています。きっとこれは想像がつくことでしょう。では「婚礼の礼服」は何が例えられているのか？聖書学者によりますと「感謝の気持ち」ということのようです。
神様は積極的に全ての人々を「天の国」（俗に言う天国というよりも神様の愛の意味合いが強いもの）に招かれています。私たちはその招きを感じているでしょうか。気付いているでしょうか。神様の前で、自分の思いを優先し、大きな態度をとり、ある意味、傲慢な姿勢、生き方をしていることははないでしょうか。あるいは、神様の思いを無視、拒否してたり、逆らったりすることは…。幸せを感じても、誰がその恵みをくださっているのか知らない、気付かないでいて、しかも、その恵みに浴することに感謝の念も抱かずにいると、罪を犯すことになるということでしょう。
今一度、自分自身をちょっと振り返ってみましょう。

Gospel : Matthew 22:1-14
1 Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,
2 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
7 When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.
8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’
10 Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,
12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.
13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

31 then it shall be, that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, it shall be the LORD’s, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.”
32 So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hand.
33 He struck them from Aroer until you come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and to Abelcheramim, with a very great slaughter. So the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
34 Jephthah came to Mizpah to his house; and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and with dances. She was his only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter.
35 When he saw her, he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you are one of those who trouble me; for I have opened my mouth to the LORD, and I can’t go back.”
36 She said to him, “My father, you have opened your mouth to the LORD; do to me according to that which has proceeded out of your mouth, because the LORD has taken vengeance for you on your enemies, even on the children of Ammon.”
37 She said to her father, “Let this thing be done for me. Leave me alone two months, that I may depart and go down on the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my companions.”
38 He said, “Go.” He sent her away for two months: and she departed, she and her companions, and mourned her virginity on the mountains.
39a At the end of two months, she returned to her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed.

1 Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,
2 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
7 When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.
8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’
10 Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,
12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.
13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’
14 For many are called, but few chosen.”

マタイによる福音 20:1-16
天国は、ある家の主人が、自分のぶどう園に労働者を雇うために、夜が明けると同時に、出かけて行くようなものである。
彼は労働者たちと、一日一デナリの約束をして、彼らをぶどう園に送った。
それから九時ごろに出て行って、他の人々が市場で何もせずに立っているのを見た。
そして、その人たちに言った、『あなたがたも、ぶどう園に行きなさい。相当な賃銀を払うから』。
そこで、彼らは出かけて行った。主人はまた、十二時ごろと三時ごろとに出て行って、同じようにした。
五時ごろまた出て行くと、まだ立っている人々を見たので、彼らに言った、『なぜ、何もしないで、一日中ここに立っていたのか』。
彼らが『だれもわたしたちを雇ってくれませんから』と答えたので、その人々に言った、『あなたがたも、ぶどう園に行きなさい』。
さて、夕方になって、ぶどう園の主人は管理人に言った、『労働者たちを呼びなさい。そして、最後にきた人々からはじめて順々に最初にきた人々にわたるように、賃銀を払ってやりなさい』。
そこで、五時ごろに雇われた人々がきて、それぞれ一デナリずつもらった。
ところが、最初の人々がきて、もっと多くもらえるだろうと思っていたのに、彼らも一デナリずつもらっただけであった。
もらったとき、家の主人にむかって不平をもらして
言った、『この最後の者たちは一時間しか働かなかったのに、あなたは一日じゅう、労苦と暑さを辛抱したわたしたちと同じ扱いをなさいました』。
そこで彼はそのひとりに答えて言った、『友よ、わたしはあなたに対して不正をしてはいない。あなたはわたしと一デナリの約束をしたではないか。
自分の賃銀をもらって行きなさい。わたしは、この最後の者にもあなたと同様に払ってやりたいのだ。
自分の物を自分がしたいようにするのは、当りまえではないか。それともわたしが気前よくしているので、ねたましく思うのか』。
このように、あとの者は先になり、先の者はあとになるであろう」。

☆今日の『み言葉』
マタイによる福音 20:1-16
今日の福音の「たとえ話」において、「主人」に象徴されている神様の公平さに、不公平を感じ、神様の正当性に不正当な印象を持ってしまい、後の者が先になること、後から来た者に追い越されることの、悔しさと苛立ちを想像し、なにかしっくりこない気持ち、報われないことへの不満や納得し難い感情が湧く人は多いかもしれません。
わたしは7人兄弟の末っ子。小学生の時、兄・姉たちを羨ましく思ったことがありました。「兄・姉たちは自分より長くお父さんとお母さんと居る。僕は最後に生まれたから、一番短い。ずるい。」と・・・。でも「僕」は気付きました。最後に生まれてきたけど、兄・姉たちと同じように愛されている。（もっとかもしれない。）親は、最後に生まれてきた子も同じように愛するのです。この気付きに今日の福音を理解するヒントがあるような気がします。
神様の愛、恵は皆、同じように与えられているのです。善人にも悪人にも。「わたしは罪人だから与えられる恵は少ないし、愛されるわけがない。」？ そうでしょうか。その罪を全てゆるしてくださるという恵を神様は用意しておられ、それほどまでに愛しているのです。
