＜今日の聖書物語 *＞
（ルカによる福音 4:16-30）
それからお育ちになったナザレに行き、安息日にいつものように会堂にはいり、聖書を朗読しようとして立たれた。
すると預言者イザヤの書が手渡されたので、その書を開いて、こう書いてある所を出された、
「主の御霊がわたしに宿っている。
貧しい人々に福音を宣べ伝えさせるために、
わたしを聖別してくださったからである。
主はわたしをつかわして、
囚人が解放され、盲人の目が開かれることを告げ知らせ、
打ちひしがれている者に自由を得させ、
主のめぐみの年を告げ知らせるのである」。
イエスは聖書を巻いて係りの者に返し、席に着かれると、会堂にいるみんなの者の目がイエスに注がれた。
そこでイエスは、「この聖句は、あなたがたが耳にしたこの日に成就した」と説きはじめられた。
すると、彼らはみなイエスをほめ、またその口から出て来るめぐみの言葉に感嘆して言った、「この人はヨセフの子ではないか」。
そこで彼らに言われた、「あなたがたは、きっと『医者よ、自分自身をいやせ』ということわざを引いて、カペナウムで行われたと聞いていた事を、あなたの郷里のこの地でもしてくれ、と言うであろう」。
それから言われた、「よく言っておく。預言者は、自分の郷里では歓迎されないものである。
よく聞いておきなさい。エリヤの時代に、三年六か月にわたって天が閉じ、イスラエル全土に大ききんがあった際、そこには多くのやもめがいたのに、
エリヤはそのうちのだれにもつかわされないで、ただシドンのサレプタにいるひとりのやもめにだけつかわされた。
また預言者エリシャの時代に、イスラエルには多くのらい病人がいたのに、そのうちのひとりもきよめられないで、ただシリヤのナアマンだけがきよめられた」。
会堂にいた者たちはこれを聞いて、みな憤りに満ち、

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 4:16-30）
「貧しい人に福音を告げ知らせるために、わたしを遣わされた。」
ルカ福音書は貧しき人・弱い人に焦点を当て、イエスの救いの恵みを伝えようとしている。
聖フランシスコ・ザビエルはインドで“あんじろう”と出会い、日本の布教を思い立ったと言われる。
そのとき、“あんじろう”は「日本人は教える人の知識の深さを測るため、いろいろと質問してくるだろう。
また、教えていることが本物であるかを推し量るため、その人の行いをよく観察するであろう。
そして、伝えていることとその行いが一致するとき、人は信じるであろう。」と伝えたと言われている。
教えていることとその行いが一つになっていたので、人々はイエスに反論することができなかった。
イエスのもとに送り出されたわたし達は、イエスのことばを携え、行いを一つにするとき、真にイエスの救いの喜びを伝えることになるのではないでしょうか。
そのような営みを目指しつつ・・・。

Gospel : Luke 4:16-30
16 He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written,
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to heal the broken hearted,*
to proclaim release to the captives,
recovering of sight to the blind,
to deliver those who are crushed,
19 and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”☆
20 He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 He began to tell them, “Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
22 All testified about him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”
23 He said to them, “Doubtless you will tell me this parable, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.’”
24 He said, “Most certainly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.
25 But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.
26 Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
27 There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian.”
28 They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things.
29 They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff. 30 But he, passing through the middle of them, went his way.

この時から、イエス・キリストは、自分が必ずエルサレムに行き、長老、祭司長、律法学者たちから多くの苦しみを受け、殺され、そして三日目によみがえるべきことを、弟子たちに示しはじめられた。
すると、ペテロはイエスをわきへ引き寄せて、いさめはじめ、「主よ、とんでもないことです。そんなことがあるはずはございません」と言った。
イエスは振り向いて、ペテロに言われた、「サタンよ、引きさがれ。わたしの邪魔をする者だ。あなたは神のことを思わないで、人のことを思っている」。
それからイエスは弟子たちに言われた、「だれでもわたしについてきたいと思うなら、自分を捨て、自分の十字架を負うて、わたしに従ってきなさい。
自分の命を救おうと思う者はそれを失い、わたしのために自分の命を失う者は、それを見いだすであろう。
たとい人が全世界をもうけても、自分の命を損したら、なんの得になろうか。また、人はどんな代価を払って、その命を買いもどすことができようか。
人の子は父の栄光のうちに、御使たちを従えて来るが、その時には、実際のおこないに応じて、それぞれに報いるであろう。

22 Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”
23 But he turned, and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”

（マルコによる福音 6:17-29）
このヘロデは、自分の兄弟ピリポの妻ヘロデヤをめとったが、そのことで、人をつかわし、ヨハネを捕えて獄につないだ。
それは、ヨハネがヘロデに、「兄弟の妻をめとるのは、よろしくない」と言ったからである。
そこで、ヘロデヤはヨハネを恨み、彼を殺そうと思っていたが、できないでいた。
それはヘロデが、ヨハネは正しくて聖なる人であることを知って、彼を恐れ、彼に保護を加え、またその教を聞いて非常に悩みながらも、なお喜んで聞いていたからである。
ところが、よい機会がきた。ヘロデは自分の誕生日の祝に、高官や将校やガリラヤの重立った人たちを招いて宴会を催したが、
そこへ、このヘロデヤの娘がはいってきて舞をまい、ヘロデをはじめ列座の人たちを喜ばせた。そこで王はこの少女に「ほしいものはなんでも言いなさい。あなたにあげるから」と言い、
さらに「ほしければ、この国の半分でもあげよう」と誓って言った。
そこで少女は座をはずして、母に「何をお願いしましょうか」と尋ねると、母は「バプテスマのヨハネの首を」と答えた。
するとすぐ、少女は急いで王のところに行って願った、「今すぐに、バプテスマのヨハネの首を盆にのせて、それをいただきとうございます」。
王は非常に困ったが、いったん誓ったのと、また列座の人たちの手前、少女の願いを退けることを好まなかった。
そこで、王はすぐに衛兵をつかわし、ヨハネの首を持って来るように命じた。衛兵は出て行き、獄中でヨハネの首を切り、
盆にのせて持ってきて少女に与え、少女はそれを母にわたした。
ヨハネの弟子たちはこのことを聞き、その死体を引き取りにきて、墓に納めた。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（マルコによる福音 6:17-29）
今日の福音を読んでいると、洗礼者ヨハネ殺害の凄惨な光景が目に浮かんでくるのですが、
このとき、ヨハネ自身の気持ちはどうだったのでしょうか。
つまり、自分が今ここで死ななければならないことを悟ったとき、
何を思ったのだろうか、ということです。
こんなつまらないことで生涯を終えることになるなんて・・・、と思ったのか。
それとも、神から任せられた自分の役割は十分果たした、と思ったのか。
ヨハネが死の間際に何を思ったのか、なぜかそのことがとても気になりました。
福音書はヨハネの最期そのものについては非常に簡潔にしか描いていません。
そんなことはどうでもいいかもしれないのですが・・・。
今日の福音には、自分の本音を表明できずに周りに翻弄されるヘロデが登場します。
洗礼者ヨハネはこのヘロデの弱さに翻弄されます。
いつの時代の殉教者も周り（時代・政治・紛争）に翻弄されるのですが、
そのような中にあってヘロデのように自分を見失うのではなく、
ヨハネのように神に任せられた務めをしっかりと認識し、
それを受けとめ、最後まで全うする姿勢をわたしたちも培って参りましょう。

Gospel : Mark 6:17-29
17 For Herod himself had sent out and arrested John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for he had married her.
18 For John said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”
19 Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him, but she couldn’t,
20 for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he did many things, and he heard him gladly.
21 Then a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday made a supper for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of Galilee.
22 When the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and those sitting with him. The king said to the young lady, “Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”
23 He swore to her, “Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.”
24 She went out, and said to her mother, “What shall I ask?”
She said, “The head of John the Baptiser.”
25 She came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptiser on a platter.”
26 The king was exceedingly sorry, but for the sake of his oaths, and of his dinner guests, he didn’t wish to refuse her.
27 Immediately the king sent out a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring John’s head, and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the young lady; and the young lady gave it to her mother.
29 When his disciples heard this, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

＜今日の聖書物語 *＞
（マタイによる福音 25:1-13）
そこで天国は、十人のおとめがそれぞれあかりを手にして、花婿を迎えに出て行くのに似ている。
その中の五人は思慮が浅く、五人は思慮深い者であった。
思慮の浅い者たちは、あかりは持っていたが、油を用意していなかった。
しかし、思慮深い者たちは、自分たちのあかりと一緒に、入れものの中に油を用意していた。
花婿の来るのがおくれたので、彼らはみな居眠りをして、寝てしまった。
夜中に、『さあ、花婿だ、迎えに出なさい』と呼ぶ声がした。
そのとき、おとめたちはみな起きて、それぞれあかりを整えた。
ところが、思慮の浅い女たちが、思慮深い女たちに言った、
『あなたがたの油をわたしたちにわけてください。わたしたちのあかりが消えかかっていますから』。
すると、思慮深い女たちは答えて言った、
『わたしたちとあなたがたとに足りるだけは、多分ないでしょう。店に行って、あなたがたの分をお買いになる方がよいでしょう』。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（マタイによる福音 25:1-13）
この喩え話しを読んで、「五人の賢い乙女と、五人の愚かな乙女」ではなく、
「油を人に分けない五人の意地悪な乙女と、分けてもらえなかった五人の可哀想な乙女」の話だと感じる人もいるようです。
そのような方々の為に、喩え話の背景である、
1世紀当時のユダヤ地方に於ける村の結婚式の習慣を理解しましょう。
先ず結婚式は夜中に行われましたので松明(たいまつ)は必須です。
また、花婿が花嫁を迎える為に彼女の家に向かう慣わしだったので、花嫁側は介添えの友人たちと一緒に自分の家で花婿が迎えに来るのを待ちました。
「10人の乙女」とは、花嫁の介添えの友人たちを指しています。
そして時計などない御時勢ですから、花婿が時間通りに来る事などあり得ず、到着が遅れる事態などしばしばだったようです。
イエスが油を用意した乙女たちを評価したのは、予備の油を準備して花婿を迎えた事です。
但し、前述した時代背景で、花婿到着が定刻であるはずがあり得ない時代状況を知れば、予備の油を準備するなど当然の事と理解出来るでしょう。
そこで「なぜ油を分けなかったのか？」以上に、「なぜ油を準備しなかったのか？」と考える方がより現実的な発想法と言えるでしょう。
しかし、ここでは敢えて「なぜ油を分けなかったのか？」と言う発想方法をヒントにして考えてみましょう。
そこには、この油が「人に分ける事が出来ないもの」を意味しているからではないでしょうか。
例えば「その人自身の生き方・与えられたその人の命・その人に与えられたタレント」です。
自分の人生を誰か別の人が代わりに生きる事など不可能ですし、命そのものや、タレントそのものを他者に譲渡する事も出来ません。
人間には他者に分け与える事が出来ない、自分にしか全う出来ない尊いものがあるのです。
その全てを、花婿であるイエスが来られる（＝終末の）為に準備していく事が、この喩え話しの中で「油」という形で表されているのかもしれません。
続く「タラントンの喩え」(14-30節)でも、各々の戴いたタラントンを三人の僕たちも分け合わなかったように、己にしか灯す事が出来ない「油」や「タレント」があるのです。

1 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3 Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.*
8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
10 While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.
11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12 But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13 Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
*25:7: The end of the wick of an oil lamp needs to be cut off periodically to avoid having it become clogged with carbon deposits. The wick height is also adjusted so that the flame burns evenly and gives good light without producing a lot of smoke.

20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.
22 For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,
23 but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

だから、目をさましていなさい。いつの日にあなたがたの主がこられるのか、あなたがたには、わからないからである。
このことをわきまえているがよい。家の主人は、盗賊がいつごろ来るかわかっているなら、目をさましていて、自分の家に押し入ることを許さないであろう。
だから、あなたがたも用意をしていなさい。思いがけない時に人の子が来るからである。
主人がその家の僕たちの上に立てて、時に応じて食物をそなえさせる忠実な思慮深い僕は、いったい、だれであろう。
主人が帰ってきたとき、そのようにつとめているのを見られる僕は、さいわいである。
よく言っておくが、主人は彼を立てて自分の全財産を管理させるであろう。
もしそれが悪い僕であって、自分の主人は帰りがおそいと心の中で思い、
その僕仲間をたたきはじめ、また酒飲み仲間と一緒に食べたり飲んだりしているなら、
その僕の主人は思いがけない日、気がつかない時に帰ってきて、

「目を覚ましていなさい」。この言葉に私はドキッとします。
修道会入会前、そして入会後、そして今も時々、祈りながら居眠りをしてしまうことがあります。
こんな私は今でもこの言葉を聞くたびにドキッとし、神様に、イエス様に見透かされている、そんな風に思うのです。
実際、神様やイエス様は私たちのことを見透かしておられる事でしょう。
だからこのようなことをおっしゃるのだと思います。
たしかに人間は弱く、油断することはしばしばです。
まだ大丈夫だろう、まだ余裕がある、冷静になってみるといったいあの自信はどこからだったのか、と思うような事もしばしばです。
しかしイエスがおっしゃるのはいつも気を張っていろ、ということではないと思います。
今日の福音だけではわかりませんが、備え、用意しながらも神様に信頼しよう、そういう事だと思います。
神様、イエス様の言葉へ開かれているのでしょうか。
そのことを反省しつつ、目を覚ましているようにしたいと思います。

42 Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44 Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come.
45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.
47 Most certainly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.
48 But if that evil servant should say in his heart, ‘My lord is delaying his coming,’
49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards,
50 the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn’t expect it, and in an hour when he doesn’t know it,
51 and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

偽善な律法学者、パリサイ人たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。あなたがたは白く塗った墓に似ている。外側は美しく見えるが、内側は死人の骨や、あらゆる不潔なものでいっぱいである。
このようにあなたがたも、外側は人に正しく見えるが、内側は偽善と不法とでいっぱいである。
偽善な律法学者、パリサイ人たちよ。あなたがたは、わざわいである。あなたがたは預言者の墓を建て、義人の碑を飾り立てて、こう言っている、
『もしわたしたちが先祖の時代に生きていたなら、預言者の血を流すことに加わってはいなかっただろう』と。
このようにして、あなたがたは預言者を殺した者の子孫であることを、自分で証明している。
あなたがたもまた先祖たちがした悪の枡目を満たすがよい。

今日の福音の、27節と29節に出てくる「･･･不幸だ」という言葉は、もともと「ウーアイ」という呻きの声だったそうです。
いったいイエズス様はここで、律法学者、ファリザイ人など当時、最も模範的な信仰生活をしていた人々の何を指摘しながら、「ウーアイ」という嘆きの言葉を発せられたのでしょうか。
25節にその説明があります。
「杯と皿との外側は清めるが、内側は貪欲と放縦とで満ちている」。
28節では「偽善と不法」と指摘されています。
渡辺善太という旧約聖書の学者さんは
「教会には偽善者が日常的に生まれる。それは避けられない、むしろ歓迎すべきだ」と言っていたそうです。
それは開き直りの言葉ではなくて、人間である限り人の目を気にする弱い人間であることを踏まえたうえで、それでもなお、神の前に立ち、神のまなざしの前に自分の弱さとおろかさを悟る必要を説いたのだといえます。
大阪玉造にある大阪女学院中･高の校門にラテン語で「神を畏れることは知恵のはじめ」という旧約聖書の言葉が書かれていますが、それも上記のことに通じるのではないかと思います。

28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,
30 and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’
31 Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.
32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.

（マタイによる福音 23:23-26）
イエスは、律法学者たちとファリサイ派の人々に対して、「あなたたち偽善者は不幸だ」(マタイ23・23)と言う。
何故に不幸なのだろうか。
それは、ごく僅かな物にも厳しく課税する彼らが、『正義・慈悲・誠実』という人間に関する最も重要な事柄をないがしろにしているからである。
さらに、イエスは「内側をきれいにせよ」とも言う。
不幸に陥らない為にはどうしたら良いのだろうか。
それは、『正義・慈悲・誠実』を蔑ろにしない。
そして、「内側をきれいに」するということであろう。
イエスは、第2の掟として「隣人を自分のように愛しなさい」(マタイ22・39)と言うが、まさにこのことに結び付く内容である。
「隣人を自分のように愛する」「他者を大事にする」という言葉の響きは素晴らしいが、いざ実行するとなると非常に難しさを感じる事であろう。
いやむしろ、出来ないという絶望感にさえ苛まれることであろう。
それでも、イエスは、わたしたちに望んでおられるのであって、受け入れない訳にはいかない。
ならば、主の助けによってその招きに一歩一歩近づけるように祈りながら前進したい。
兎でなくて亀でもよい。確かな道を歩みたい。

24 You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.‡‡
26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.
††23:23: cumin is an aromatic seed from Cuminum cyminum, resembling caraway in flavour and appearance. It is used as a spice.

（ヨハネによる福音 1:45-51）
このピリポがナタナエルに出会って言った、「わたしたちは、モーセが律法の中にしるしており、預言者たちがしるしていた人、ヨセフの子、ナザレのイエスにいま出会った」。
ナタナエルは彼に言った、「ナザレから、なんのよいものが出ようか」。ピリポは彼に言った、「きて見なさい」。
イエスはナタナエルが自分の方に来るのを見て、彼について言われた、「見よ、あの人こそ、ほんとうのイスラエル人である。その心には偽りがない」。
ナタナエルは言った、「どうしてわたしをご存じなのですか」。イエスは答えて言われた、「ピリポがあなたを呼ぶ前に、わたしはあなたが、いちじくの木の下にいるのを見た」。
ナタナエルは答えた、「先生、あなたは神の子です。あなたはイスラエルの王です」。
イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたが、いちじくの木の下にいるのを見たと、わたしが言ったので信じるのか。これよりも、もっと大きなことを、あなたは見るであろう」。

（ヨハネによる福音 1:45-51）
ヨハネの福音は、「はじめにことばがあった」から始まる福音書ですが、その後洗礼者ヨハネによるイエスの紹介、そして弟子の召命物語になります。
ナタナエルという人物がバルトロマイに当たります。
フィリッポが「来て、見なさい」と言ったのをきっかけに、ナタナエルはイエスと出会います。
そして、自分がイエスを知る前から自分のことをイエスが知っていたことを知り、イエスについていくことになります。
様々な召命物語がありますが、ナタナエルの場合、2つのポイントが挙げられます。
一つは、フィリッポがイエスを紹介したこと、つまり自分で探してそうなったのではなく、自分を越えた招きがあったということです。
もう一つは、もうイエスはナタナエルを知っていたということです。
先行する神の招き、神の愛というキリスト教の基本原理が出ています。
私たちの想像以上に神は先立って私たちを配慮してくださっているということ。
このことを私たちがどのくらい生活の中で実感できるか、それが信仰を深める大きな要因になると思います。
どうか私たち一人一人が、この神の配慮に日常の中で少しでも気付くことができますように。

イエスがピリポ・カイザリヤの地方に行かれたとき、弟子たちに尋ねて言われた、「人々は人の子をだれと言っているか」。
彼らは言った、「ある人々はバプテスマのヨハネだと言っています。しかし、ほかの人たちは、エリヤだと言い、また、エレミヤあるいは預言者のひとりだ、と言っている者もあります」。
そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「それでは、あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」。
シモン・ペテロが答えて言った、「あなたこそ、生ける神の子キリストです」。
すると、イエスは彼にむかって言われた、「バルヨナ・シモン、あなたはさいわいである。あなたにこの事をあらわしたのは、血肉ではなく、天にいますわたしの父である。
そこで、わたしもあなたに言う。あなたはペテロである。そして、わたしはこの岩の上にわたしの教会を建てよう。黄泉の力もそれに打ち勝つことはない。
わたしは、あなたに天国のかぎを授けよう。そして、あなたが地上でつなぐことは、天でもつながれ、あなたが地上で解くことは天でも解かれるであろう」。

Gospel : Matthew 16:13-20
13 Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
14 They said, “Some say John the Baptiser, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
18 I also tell you that you are Peter,* and on this rock † I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades‡ will not prevail against it.
19 I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”
20 Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

そのときイエスは、群衆と弟子たちとに語って言われた、
「律法学者とパリサイ人とは、モーセの座にすわっている。
だから、彼らがあなたがたに言うことは、みな守って実行しなさい。しかし、彼らのすることには、ならうな。彼らは言うだけで、実行しないから。
また、重い荷物をくくって人々の肩にのせるが、それを動かすために、自分では指一本も貸そうとはしない。
そのすることは、すべて人に見せるためである。すなわち、彼らは経札を幅広くつくり、その衣のふさを大きくし、
また、宴会の上座、会堂の上席を好み、
広場であいさつされることや、人々から先生と呼ばれることを好んでいる。
しかし、あなたがたは先生と呼ばれてはならない。あなたがたの先生は、ただひとりであって、あなたがたはみな兄弟なのだから。
また、地上のだれをも、父と呼んではならない。あなたがたの父はただひとり、すなわち、天にいます父である。
また、あなたがたは教師と呼ばれてはならない。あなたがたの教師はただひとり、すなわち、キリストである。
そこで、あなたがたのうちでいちばん偉い者は、仕える人でなければならない。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（マタイによる福音 23:1-12）
「あなたがたのうちでいちばん偉い人は、仕える者になりなさい」。
司祭となって感じる大きな変化の一つは、皆から「様」と呼ばれるようになることかもしれない。
初対面の人はもちろんだが、今までいろいろとお世話になり、到底頭の上がらない方からも「神父様」と呼ばれてしまうと、非常に恐縮してしまう。
しかし、慣れというのは怖いもので、次第にそう呼ばれることに違和感を覚えなくなってしまっている。
今日のみ言葉は、そんな自分に向けられた言葉のように思える。
「司祭＝偉い人」と考えるのは傲慢かもしれないが、司祭というだけで（自分の資質とは関係なく）敬われてしまう司祭は、まさに神と人とに仕えるために任命された者であるということを思い出さなければならない。
そしてこの言葉を言われた本人、最も偉い方であるイエス・キリストがすべての人に仕えるために、愛するために来られた方であったということを。

1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,
2 saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sat on Moses’ seat.
3 All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.
4 For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.
5 But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries * broad, enlarge the fringes† of their garments,
6 and love the place of honour at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,
7 the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.
8 But don’t you be called ‘Rabbi,’ for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.

さて、パリサイ人たちは、イエスがサドカイ人たちを言いこめられたと聞いて、一緒に集まった。
そして彼らの中のひとりの律法学者が、イエスをためそうとして質問した、
「先生、律法の中で、どのいましめがいちばん大切なのですか」。
イエスは言われた、「『心をつくし、精神をつくし、思いをつくして、主なるあなたの神を愛せよ』。
これがいちばん大切な、第一のいましめである。
第二もこれと同様である、『自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ』。
これらの二つのいましめに、律法全体と預言者とが、かかっている」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（マタイによる福音 22:34-40）
日本人は、赤ちゃんが生まれた時、「健康で、人さまに迷惑をかけないような子に育ってくれればいい」と思う親が多い。
そこには「自分が迷惑に思うようなことを人にしてはいけない」ということが重要なのだという価値観がある。
しかし、今日の福音で、イエスは、そのような消極的な言い方ではなく、「神を愛しなさい」、「隣人を愛しなさい」という積極的な言い方をしている。
消極的な言い方だと、これはしていけない、これもいけないという細かい規定を作らざるをえなくなり、それらに縛られることになってしまう。
そして他人を裁くことにもつながり、自由ではない。
「神と隣人を愛する」という積極的な言い方への転換は、生き方の基準や中心を自分にではなく、「神と隣人を愛すること」に置くということである。
キリスト者の生き方というのはこういうものだ。
イエス自身がこれを実践していた。
イエスは、隣人を愛するがゆえに、安息日の細かい規定なども相対化していた。
愛のゆえに、自分へのこだわりからも、この世からもまったく自由であった。
私たちも何かを決断する時、また自分たちの在り方を探し求める時、その基準は「神と隣人を愛する」ということでなければならない。
