（マタイによる福音 4:18-22）
さて、イエスがガリラヤの海べを歩いておられると、ふたりの兄弟、すなわち、ペテロと呼ばれたシモンとその兄弟アンデレとが、海に網を打っているのをごらんになった。彼らは漁師であった。
イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしについてきなさい。あなたがたを、人間をとる漁師にしてあげよう」。
すると、彼らはすぐに網を捨てて、イエスに従った。
そこから進んで行かれると、ほかのふたりの兄弟、すなわち、ゼベダイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネとが、父ゼベダイと一緒に、舟の中で網を繕っているのをごらんになった。そこで彼らをお招きになると、
すぐ舟と父とをおいて、イエスに従って行った。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（マタイによる福音 4:18-22）
今日は聖アンデレの祝日です。
ガリラヤ湖畔で二組の兄弟がイエスに声をかけられ、即座に弟子入りすることが取り上げられています。
最初の弟子に関しては、ヨハネ福音書と微妙な違いが見られます。
しかし、共通していることは、いずれにしても、アンデレが最初の弟子となったということです。
アンデレはイエスのもとで一泊した後、兄弟のシモンをイエスに引き合わせます。
二組の弟子は、イエスの招きに、親子関係、生活の手段を捨てて従いました。
アンデレは最初の師である洗礼者ヨハネともいさぎよく訣別したことは、真なるものに対して人間関係にとらわれない超越を感じさせます。

12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him.
13 For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?
15 And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News of peace,
who bring glad tidings of good things!”
16 But they didn’t all listen to the glad news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”
17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But I say, didn’t they hear? Yes, most certainly,
“Their sound went out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”

10:9
すなわち、自分の口で、イエスは主であると告白し、自分の心で、神が死人の中からイエスをよみがえらせたと信じるなら、あなたは救われる。
10:10
なぜなら、人は心に信じて義とされ、口で告白して救われるからである。
10:11
聖書は、「すべて彼を信じる者は、失望に終ることがない」と言っている。
10:12
ユダヤ人とギリシヤ人との差別はない。同一の主が万民の主であって、彼を呼び求めるすべての人を豊かに恵んで下さるからである。
10:13
なぜなら、「主の御名を呼び求める者は、すべて救われる」とあるからである。
10:14
しかし、信じたことのない者を、どうして呼び求めることがあろうか。聞いたことのない者を、どうして信じることがあろうか。宣べ伝える者がいなくては、どうして聞くことがあろうか。
10:15
つかわされなくては、どうして宣べ伝えることがあろうか。「ああ、麗しいかな、良きおとずれを告げる者の足は」と書いてあるとおりである。
10:16
しかし、すべての人が福音に聞き従ったのではない。イザヤは、「主よ、だれがわたしたちから聞いたことを信じましたか」と言っている。
10:17
したがって、信仰は聞くことによるのであり、聞くことはキリストの言葉から来るのである。
10:18
しかしわたしは言う、彼らには聞えなかったのであろうか。否、むしろ
「その声は全地にひびきわたり、
その言葉は世界のはてにまで及んだ」。

さて、イエスがカペナウムに帰ってこられたとき、ある百卒長がみもとにきて訴えて言った、
「主よ、わたしの僕が中風でひどく苦しんで、家に寝ています」。
イエスは彼に、「わたしが行ってなおしてあげよう」と言われた。
百卒長は答えて言った、「主よ、わたしの屋根の下にあなたをお入れする資格は、わたしにはございません。ただ、お言葉を下さい。そうすれば僕はなおります。
わたしも権威の下にある者ですが、わたしの下にも兵卒がいまして、ひとりの者に『行け』と言えば行き、ほかの者に『こい』と言えばきますし、また、僕に『これをせよ』と言えば、してくれるのです」。
イエスはこれを聞いて非常に感心され、ついてきた人々に言われた、「よく聞きなさい。イスラエル人の中にも、これほどの信仰を見たことがない。
なお、あなたがたに言うが、多くの人が東から西からきて、天国で、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブと共に宴会の席につく

今日の福音は、イエス様に対して謙虚な態度で深い信仰を示した百人隊長のエピソードです。イエス様は彼に、「イスラエルの中でさえわたしはこれほどの信仰を見たことがない。」と最大の賛辞を与えておられます。最大の賛辞が与えられたその信仰に私たちも注目し見習うようにしたいものです。
それに加えもう一つ注目したい所があります。それは彼の、百人の部下の内のたった一人に対する思いと愛情です。この隊長は、100分の１の部下を決してないがしろにすることなく、わざわざ隊長自らイエス様のところに足を運んで、部下の癒しを懇願しています。彼のこの姿は、「100匹の羊を飼っていた羊飼いのたとえ話」を思い起こさせます。
「たった一人」を大切にし、その愛情があっての彼の信仰でした。「たった一人」に対する愛情も見習うようにしたいものです。

6 and saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralysed, grievously tormented.”
7 Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 The centurion answered, “Lord, I’m not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and tell another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and tell my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to those who followed, “Most certainly I tell you, I haven’t found so great a faith, not even in Israel.
11 I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven,

25 There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves;
26 men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
34 “So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly.
35 For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth.
36 Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Jeremiah 33:14-16
14 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.

世の終わりに主イエス様が再びお出でになり、その時神の国が完成するでしょうが、それはいつ起こるかについて『不意に罠のようにあなたがたを襲うことになる』と主は、今日の福音の言葉でもって戒めてくださいます。
具体的に、放縦や深酒、心が鈍くならないように注意することはどういうことでしょうか。
それは、日毎の生活の出来事の意味を終末の観点から悟ること、多くの人々の中にキリストがもうすでにお出でになっておられることを認めること、一人ひとりの私たちの人生の旅路は来臨するキリストに向かっていなければならないことを確信することではないでしょうか。
そういう心の姿勢でもって典礼暦年の最後の日を終え、新しい典礼暦年を迎えるように致しましょう。

わたしが見ていると、この角は聖徒と戦って、彼らに勝ったが、

ついに日の老いたる者がきて、いと高き者の聖徒のために審判をおこなった。そしてその時がきて、この聖徒たちは国を受けた。

彼はこう言った、
『第四の獣は地上の第四の国である。
これはすべての国と異なって、
全世界を併合し、
これを踏みつけ、かつ打ち砕く。

十の角はこの国から起る十人の王である。
その後にまたひとりの王が起る。
彼は先の者と異なり、
かつ、その三人の王を倒す。

Gospel : Luke 21:34-36
34 “So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly.
35 For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth.
36 Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Daniel 7:15-27
15 As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
16 I came near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
17 These great animals, which are four, are four kings, who shall arise out of the earth.
18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.
19 Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth animal, which was diverse from all of them, exceedingly terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of brass; which devoured, broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet;
20 and concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spoke great things, whose look was more stout than its fellows.
21 I saw, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 until the ancient of days came, and judgement was given to the saints of the Most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 Thus he said, The fourth animal shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kings arise: and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings.
25 He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.
26 But the judgement shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it to the end.
27 The kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole sky, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

ダニエルは述べて言った、「わたしは夜の幻のうちに見た。見よ、天の四方からの風が大海をかきたてると、

四つの大きな獣が海からあがってきた。その形は、おのおの異なり、

第一のものは、ししのようで、わしの翼をもっていたが、わたしが見ていると、その翼は抜きとられ、また地から起されて、人のように二本の足で立たせられ、かつ人の心が与えられた。
7:5
見よ、第二の獣は熊のようであった。これはそのからだの一方をあげ、その口の歯の間に、三本の肋骨をくわえていたが、これに向かって『起きあがって、多くの肉を食らえ』と言う声があった。
7:6
その後わたしが見たのは、ひょうのような獣で、その背には鳥の翼が四つあった。またこの獣には四つの頭があり、主権が与えられた。
7:7
その後わたしが夜の幻のうちに見た第四の獣は、恐ろしい、ものすごい、非常に強いもので、大きな鉄の歯があり、食らい、かつ、かみ砕いて、その残りを足で踏みつけた。これは、その前に出たすべての獣と違って、十の角を持っていた。
7:8
わたしが、その角を注意して見ていると、その中に、また一つの小さい角が出てきたが、この小さい角のために、さきの角のうち三つがその根から抜け落ちた。見よ、この小さい角には、人の目のような目があり、また大きな事を語る口があった。
7:9
わたしが見ていると、
もろもろのみ座が設けられて、
日の老いたる者が座しておられた。
その衣は雪のように白く、
頭の毛は混じりもののない羊の毛のようであった。
そのみ座は火の炎であり、
その車輪は燃える火であった。
7:10
彼の前から、ひと筋の火の流れが出てきた。
彼に仕える者は千々、
彼の前にはべる者は万々、
審判を行う者はその席に着き、
かずかずの書き物が開かれた。
7:11
わたしは、その角の語る大いなる言葉の声がするので見ていたが、わたしが見ている間にその獣は殺され、そのからだはそこなわれて、燃える火に投げ入れられた。
7:12
その他の獣はその主権を奪われたが、その命は、時と季節の来るまで延ばされた。
7:13
わたしはまた夜の幻のうちに見ていると、
見よ、人の子のような者が、
天の雲に乗ってきて、
日の老いたる者のもとに来ると、
その前に導かれた。
7:14
彼に主権と光栄と国とを賜い、
諸民、諸族、諸国語の者を彼に仕えさせた。
その主権は永遠の主権であって、
なくなることがなく、
その国は滅びることがない。

29 He told them a parable. “See the fig tree, and all the trees.
30 When they are already budding, you see it and know by your own selves that the summer is already near.
31 Even so you also, when you see these things happening, know that God’s Kingdom is near.
32 Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things are accomplished.
33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.

Daniel 7:2-14
2 Daniel spoke and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the sky broke out on the great sea.
3 Four great animals came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I saw until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand on two feet as a man; and a man’s heart was given to it.
5 Behold, another animal, a second, like a bear; and it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth: and they said thus to it, Arise, devour much flesh.
6 After this I saw, and behold, another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird; the animal had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and, behold, a fourth animal, awesome and powerful, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet: and it was diverse from all the animals that were before it; and it had ten horns.
8 I considered the horns, and behold, there came up amongst them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots: and behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.
9 I saw until thrones were placed, and one who was ancient of days sat: his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and its wheels burning fire.
10 A fiery stream issued and came out from before him: thousands of thousands ministered to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgement was set, and the books were opened.
11 I saw at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke; I saw even until the animal was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burnt with fire.
12 As for the rest of the animals, their dominion was taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
13 I saw in the night visions, and behold, there came with the clouds of the sky one like a son of man, and he came even to the ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 There was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

（ルカによる福音 21:20-28）
エルサレムが軍隊に包囲されるのを見たならば、そのときは、その滅亡が近づいたとさとりなさい。
そのとき、ユダヤにいる人々は山へ逃げよ。市中にいる者は、そこから出て行くがよい。また、いなかにいる者は市内にはいってはいけない。
それは、聖書にしるされたすべての事が実現する刑罰の日であるからだ。
その日には、身重の女と乳飲み子をもつ女とは、不幸である。地上には大きな苦難があり、この民にはみ怒りが臨み、
彼らはつるぎの刃に倒れ、また捕えられて諸国へ引きゆかれるであろう。そしてエルサレムは、異邦人の時期が満ちるまで、彼らに踏みにじられているであろう。
また日と月と星とに、しるしが現れるであろう。そして、地上では、諸国民が悩み、海と大波とのとどろきにおじ惑い、
人々は世界に起ろうとする事を思い、恐怖と不安で気絶するであろう。もろもろの天体が揺り動かされるからである。
そのとき、大いなる力と栄光とをもって、人の子が雲に乗って来るのを、人々は見るであろう。
これらの事が起りはじめたら、身を起し頭をもたげなさい。あなたがたの救が近づいているのだから」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 21:20-28）
イエスは迫害は証しをする機会であるが、弁明の準備は不必要であると言っています。
なぜならイエスが言葉と知恵を授けるからだとも言っています。
またイエスのために親しい人からも裏切られ、またあるものは殺され、また憎まれるとのことです。
そうであっても忍耐によって命を勝ち取るように伝えられます。
上記の通り福音をなぞってみました。
この福音で語られていることは、現代に至るまでキリスト教においてどんな時代にもどこかで起こってきたことだと思います。
そしてわたしたちは多くの殉教者を聖人としていただいています。
現代日本に生きるわたしたちは大きな迫害はありません。
しかし迫害はなくとも「キリスト者としてこの世に生きるということ」については大きな挑戦があることを感じます。
キリストのように生きるのであれば世に甘んじていてはいけないのかもしれません。

それは、聖書にしるされたすべての事が実現する刑罰の日であるからだ。
その日には、身重の女と乳飲み子をもつ女とは、不幸である。地上には大きな苦難があり、この民にはみ怒りが臨み、
彼らはつるぎの刃に倒れ、また捕えられて諸国へ引きゆかれるであろう。そしてエルサレムは、異邦人の時期が満ちるまで、彼らに踏みにじられているであろう。
また日と月と星とに、しるしが現れるであろう。そして、地上では、諸国民が悩み、海と大波とのとどろきにおじ惑い、

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 21:20-28）
イエスは迫害は証しをする機会であるが、弁明の準備は不必要であると言っています。
なぜならイエスが言葉と知恵を授けるからだとも言っています。
またイエスのために親しい人からも裏切られ、またあるものは殺され、また憎まれるとのことです。
そうであっても忍耐によって命を勝ち取るように伝えられます。
上記の通り福音をなぞってみました。
この福音で語られていることは、現代に至るまでキリスト教においてどんな時代にもどこかで起こってきたことだと思います。
そしてわたしたちは多くの殉教者を聖人としていただいています。
現代日本に生きるわたしたちは大きな迫害はありません。
しかし迫害はなくとも「キリスト者としてこの世に生きるということ」については大きな挑戦があることを感じます。
キリストのように生きるのであれば世に甘んじていてはいけないのかもしれません。

彼らは王の前にきて、王の禁令について奏上して言った、「王よ、あなたは禁令に署名して、今から三十日の間は、ただあなたにのみ願い事をさせ、もしあなたをおいて、神または人に、これをなす者があれば、すべてその者を、ししの穴に投げ入れると、定められたではありませんか」。王は答えて言った、「その事は確かであって、メデアとペルシャの法律のごとく、変えることのできないものだ」。

彼らは王の前に答えて言った、「王よ、ユダから引いてきた捕囚のひとりである、かのダニエルは、あなたをも、あなたの署名された禁令をも顧みず、一日に三度ずつ、祈をささげています」。

王はこの言葉を聞いて大いに憂え、ダニエルを救おうと心を用い、日の入るまで、彼を救い出すことに努めた。

20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand.
21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the middle of her depart. Let those who are in the country not enter therein.
22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people.
24 They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25 There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves;
26 men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 But when these things begin to happen, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.”

しかし、これらのあらゆる出来事のある前に、人々はあなたがたに手をかけて迫害をし、会堂や獄に引き渡し、わたしの名のゆえに王や総督の前にひっぱって行くであろう。
それは、あなたがたがあかしをする機会となるであろう。
だから、どう答弁しようかと、前もって考えておかないことに心を決めなさい。
あなたの反対者のだれもが抗弁も否定もできないような言葉と知恵とを、わたしが授けるから。
しかし、あなたがたは両親、兄弟、親族、友人にさえ裏切られるであろう。また、あなたがたの中で殺されるものもあろう。
また、わたしの名のゆえにすべての人に憎まれるであろう。
しかし、あなたがたの髪の毛一すじでも失われることはない。
あなたがたは耐え忍ぶことによって、自分の魂をかち取るであろう。

イエスは常に、ご自分の愛する弟子に高い理想を示し、これに挑戦するように励ましています。
イエスの弟子になる条件は、『父母、妻、兄弟、姉妹、自分のいのちまでも憎まないなら、弟子にふさわしくありません』（ルカ14,26）。
更に、イエスは、『神様だけがいのちの主である』と教えています。
ここで、いのちとは、この世に限ってのみのことでもなく自分のいのちのことでもない、永遠のいのち、神のいのちのことです。
つまり、この世は貴方に数多くの選択を提供しますが、永遠は二つの選択だけを提供します。それは天国か地獄か二者択一を迫られるものです。
だからイエスは、『死に至るまで忠実でありなさい。
わたしは貴方にいのちの冠を与える』（黙示録.2,10）と仰せになっています。
イエスに従うことは、簡単ではありません。
迫害においては、『わたしの名の為に』、憎まれる立場へと転回します。
両親、兄弟、親族、友人、一言で言えば、親しい者から憎まれ、裏切られ、殺されるのです。
その時こそ絶望に落ち込む事がないように必ず精神的に強めて下さるのです。
貴方の心に聖霊の息吹を注入させるのです。
『どんな反対者でも、対抗も反論もできないような言葉と智恵をわたしはあなたに授けるからです』（ルカ21,13）。
このように明確な姿で、証しする機会となると同時にあなた方はわたしに属する者であるのです。
その時こそ、『貴方だけが完全な方、聖なる方。全ての民が来て、貴方の前にひれ伏して拝むのでしょう！』

酒が進んだとき、ベルシャザルは、その父ネブカデネザルがエルサレムの神殿から取ってきた金銀の器を持ってこいと命じた。王とその大臣たち、および王の妻とそばめらが、これをもって酒を飲むためであった。

そこで人々はそのエルサレムの神の宮すなわち神殿から取ってきた金銀の器を持ってきたので、王とその大臣たち、および王の妻とそばめらは、これをもって飲んだ。

Gospel : Luke 21:12-19
12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake.
13 It will turn out as a testimony for you.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how to answer,
15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict.
16 You will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. They will cause some of you to be put to death.
17 You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake.
18 And not a hair of your head will perish.
19 “By your endurance you will win your lives.

1 Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
2 Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, might drink from them.
3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of God’s house which was at Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, drank from them.
4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
5 In the same hour, the fingers of a man’s hand came out and wrote near the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace. The king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
6 Then the king’s face was changed in him, and his thoughts troubled him; and the joints of his thighs were loosened, and his knees struck one against another.
13 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. The king spoke and said to Daniel, Are you that Daniel, who are of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Judah?
14 I have heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.
16 But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations, and dissolve doubts; now if you can read the writing, and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
17 Then Daniel answered before the king, Let your gifts be to yourself, and give your rewards to another; nevertheless I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
23 but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified.
24 Then was the part of the hand sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.
25 This is the writing that was inscribed: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has counted your kingdom, and brought it to an end;
27 TEKEL; you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.
28 PERES; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

それから宮にはいり、商売人たちを追い出しはじめて、
彼らに言われた、「『わが家は祈の家であるべきだ』と書いてあるのに、あなたがたはそれを盗賊の巣にしてしまった」。
イエスは毎日、宮で教えておられた。祭司長、律法学者また民衆の重立った者たちはイエスを殺そうと思っていたが、
民衆がみな熱心にイエスに耳を傾けていたので、手のくだしようがなかった。

神殿とは一体何か。時の権力者とイエスとの見解の相違がはっきりと表される箇所です。
イエスは敬虔なユダヤ教徒と同じ考え方をしています。
神殿は神の住まいであり、神様が民と共に歩まれている神聖な場所である、という考え方です。
彼はたびたびこの場所で、神様の教えを群集に語っています。
また彼の敬虔な家族が、イエスを神にささげた場所であり、彼の母であるマリアもこの神殿で神にささげられた神聖な場所です。
神殿が造られた経緯やその意味が忘れ去られていることに、イエスは嘆いています。
それは神様の嘆きかもしれません。
「律法を廃するために来たのではない、完成するために来たのだ」という言葉と対になる箇所だと思います。
神様は何を求めておられるのか、今一度、原点に立ち戻ることが求められているようです。

第百四十八年の第九の月――キスレウの月――の二十五日に、彼らは朝早く起き、

焼き尽くすいけにえのための新しい祭壇の上に律法に従っていけにえを献げた。

異邦人が祭壇を汚したのと同じ時、同じ日に、歌と琴、竪琴とシンバルに合わせて祭壇は奉献された。

45 He entered into the temple, and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,
46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!”
47 He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men amongst the people sought to destroy him.
48 They couldn’t find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.

1 Maccabees 4:36-37, 52-59
36 But Judas and his brethren said, Behold, our enemies are discomfited: let us go up to cleanse the holy place, and to dedicate it afresh.
37 And all the army was gathered together, and they went up to mount Sion.
52 And they rose up early in the morning, on the five and twentieth day of the ninth month, which is the month Chislev, in the hundred and forty and eighth year,
53 and offered sacrifice according to the law upon the new altar of burnt offerings which they had made.

おまえとその内にいる子らとを地に打ち倒し、城内の一つの石も他の石の上に残して置かない日が来るであろう。それは、おまえが神のおとずれの時を知らないでいたからである」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 19:41-44）
ルカは福音記者の中でも特にエルサレムにこだわりました。
ルカはエルサレムを地上の中心と考えていましたが、単にエルサレムをユダヤ人の神殿がある場所のある聖地として考えたのではなく、イエスというまことのいけにえが献げられる地、イエスの死と復活によって建てられる新しいエルサレムの象徴と考えていました。
さて、福音書の4割にあたる10章を費やして描いたイエスのエルサレムへの旅は終わり、いよいよエルサレムでの出来事がこれから展開されていくことになります。
実はルカ福音書が書かれた頃には、すでにエルサレムが破壊されていましたから、今日の福音の箇所はいわゆる事後予告ということになります。
しかし、私たちはイエスの涙に注目しましょう。イエスはエルサレムのために泣かれます。
つまり、それは回心への呼びかけに応えない私たちのために泣かれるのです。
この涙を見つめ、そしてこれからエルサレムで起こる出来事をしっかり見つめ黙想するとき、私たちの方が回心と喜びの涙を流すことになります。

さて、棄教を強いる王の役人たちが、いけにえを献げるためにモデインの町にやって来た。
02章 16節
多くのイスラエル人が彼らのもとに行った。マタティアとその息子たちも集まった。
02章 17節
そこで王の役人たちは答えてマタティアに言った。「あなたはこの町では高名で偉大な指導者であり、ご子息たちやご兄弟たちによって立場をさらに強固にしている。
02章 18節
すべての民族が実行し、ユダの人々も、エルサレムに残留している者たちも行っているように、まずあなたが王の命令を果たしてもらいたい。そうすれば、あなたもご子息たちも王の友人の中に含められ、銀と金、その他多くの贈り物を受ける栄誉にあずかることになる。」

マタティアは答えて大声で言った。「たとえ王の支配地の中に住むすべての民族が王に従い、各自その父祖の宗教を捨てて王の命令に服したとしても、

私も息子たちも兄弟たちも私たちの父祖の契約を守って歩みます。

我々が律法と掟を捨てることなど決してありませんように。

マタティアはこれを見て熱情に燃えた。彼の腎臓は震え、義憤を覚えて走り寄り、祭壇の前でこの男を切り殺した。

またその時、いけにえを強要しに来ていた王の役人の一人をも殺し、この祭壇を破壊した。

それは、あのサルの子ジムリに対してピネハスがしたような、律法への熱情から出た行為であった。

41 When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it,
42 saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
43 For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
44 and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”

1 Maccabees 2:15-29
15 And the king’s officers, that were enforcing the apostasy, came into the city Modin to sacrifice.
16 And many of Israel came to them, and Mattathias and his sons were gathered together.
17 And the king’s officers answered and spoke to Mattathias, saying, You are a ruler and an honourable and great man in this city, and strengthened with sons and brethren:
18 now therefore come you first and do the commandment of the king, as all the nations have done, and the men of Judah, and they that remain in Jerusalem: and you and your house shall be in the number of the king’s Friends, and you and your sons shall be honoured with silver and gold and many gifts.
19 And Mattathias answered and said with a loud voice, If all the nations that are in the house of the king’s dominion hearken to him, to fall away each one from the worship of his fathers, and have made choice to follow his commandments,
20 yet will I and my sons and my brethren walk in the covenant of our fathers.
21 Heaven forbid that we should forsake the law and the ordinances.
22 We will not hearken to the king’s words, to go aside from our worship, on the right hand, or on the left.
23 And when he had left speaking these words, there came a Jew in the sight of all to sacrifice on the altar which was at Modin, according to the king’s commandment.
24 And Mattathias saw it, and his zeal was kindled, and his reins trembled, and he showed forth his wrath according to judgement, and ran, and killed him upon the altar.
25 And the king’s officer, who compelled men to sacrifice, he killed at that time, and pulled down the altar.
26 And he was zealous for the law, even as Phinehas did to Zimri the son of Salu.
27 And Mattathias cried out in the city with a loud voice, saying, Whosoever is zealous for the law, and maintains the covenant, let him come forth after me.
28 And he and his sons fled into the mountains, and forsook all that they had in the city.
29 Then many that sought after justice and judgement went down into the wilderness, to dwell there,

＜今日の聖書物語 *＞
（ルカによる福音 19:11-28）
人々がこれらの言葉を聞いているときに、イエスはなお一つの譬をお話しになった。それはエルサレムに近づいてこられたし、また人々が神の国はたちまち現れると思っていたためである。
それで言われた、「ある身分の高い人が、王位を受けて帰ってくるために遠い所へ旅立つことになった。
そこで十人の僕を呼び十ミナを渡して言った、『わたしが帰って来るまで、これで商売をしなさい』。
ところが、本国の住民は彼を憎んでいたので、あとから使者をおくって、『この人が王になるのをわれわれは望んでいない』と言わせた。
さて、彼が王位を受けて帰ってきたとき、だれがどんなもうけをしたかを知ろうとして、金を渡しておいた僕たちを呼んでこさせた。
最初の者が進み出て言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで十ミナをもうけました』。
主人は言った、『よい僕よ、うまくやった。あなたは小さい事に忠実であったから、十の町を支配させる』。
次の者がきて言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで五ミナをつくりました』。
そこでこの者にも、『では、あなたは五つの町のかしらになれ』と言った。
それから、もうひとりの者がきて言った、『ご主人様、さあ、ここにあなたの一ミナがあります。わたしはそれをふくさに包んで、しまっておきました。
あなたはきびしい方で、おあずけにならなかったものを取りたて、おまきにならなかったものを刈る人なので、おそろしかったのです』。
彼に言った、『悪い僕よ、わたしはあなたの言ったその言葉であなたをさばこう。わたしがきびしくて、あずけなかったものを取りたて、まかなかったものを刈る人間だと、知っているのか。
では、なぜわたしの金を銀行に入れなかったのか。そうすれば、わたしが帰ってきたとき、その金を利子と一緒に引き出したであろうに』。
そして、そばに立っていた人々に、『その一ミナを彼から取り上げて、十ミナを持っている者に与えなさい』と言った。
彼らは言った、『ご主人様、あの人は既に十ミナを持っています』。
『あなたがたに言うが、おおよそ持っている人には、なお与えられ、持っていない人からは、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう。
しかしわたしが王になることを好まなかったあの敵どもを、ここにひっぱってきて、わたしの前で打ち殺せ』」。
イエスはこれらのことを言ったのち、先頭に立ち、エルサレムへ上って行かれた。

主人からしもべに与えられるムナというお金は、神様から私たちに与えられているたくさんのお恵みを表しています。
まずこのことに気づくことが大切です。
つまり、何よりもまず神様のお恵みが私たちに与えられているという事実です。
どんな状況、境遇に置かれようとも、私は神様のお恵みを確かに受けている、私にはたくさんの良いものがすでに与えられている。
これが私たちの信仰の根本的な姿勢です。
ではそのお恵みにどのようにこたえるか。
これが私たち一人一人に問われていることだと言えます。
「良いしもべだ。よくやった。」主人にこのようにねぎらいの言葉をかけられるしもべのように、
私たちも与えられたお恵みに感謝の心を持ちながら信仰の道を歩んでいきたいと思います。

人々がこれらの言葉を聞いているときに、イエスはなお一つの譬をお話しになった。それはエルサレムに近づいてこられたし、また人々が神の国はたちまち現れると思っていたためである。
それで言われた、「ある身分の高い人が、王位を受けて帰ってくるために遠い所へ旅立つことになった。
そこで十人の僕を呼び十ミナを渡して言った、『わたしが帰って来るまで、これで商売をしなさい』。
ところが、本国の住民は彼を憎んでいたので、あとから使者をおくって、『この人が王になるのをわれわれは望んでいない』と言わせた。
さて、彼が王位を受けて帰ってきたとき、だれがどんなもうけをしたかを知ろうとして、金を渡しておいた僕たちを呼んでこさせた。
最初の者が進み出て言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで十ミナをもうけました』。
主人は言った、『よい僕よ、うまくやった。あなたは小さい事に忠実であったから、十の町を支配させる』。
次の者がきて言った、『ご主人様、あなたの一ミナで五ミナをつくりました』。
そこでこの者にも、『では、あなたは五つの町のかしらになれ』と言った。
それから、もうひとりの者がきて言った、『ご主人様、さあ、ここにあなたの一ミナがあります。わたしはそれをふくさに包んで、しまっておきました。
あなたはきびしい方で、おあずけにならなかったものを取りたて、おまきにならなかったものを刈る人なので、おそろしかったのです』。
彼に言った、『悪い僕よ、わたしはあなたの言ったその言葉であなたをさばこう。わたしがきびしくて、あずけなかったものを取りたて、まかなかったものを刈る人間だと、知っているのか。
では、なぜわたしの金を銀行に入れなかったのか。そうすれば、わたしが帰ってきたとき、その金を利子と一緒に引き出したであろうに』。
そして、そばに立っていた人々に、『その一ミナを彼から取り上げて、十ミナを持っている者に与えなさい』と言った。
彼らは言った、『ご主人様、あの人は既に十ミナを持っています』。
『あなたがたに言うが、おおよそ持っている人には、なお与えられ、持っていない人からは、持っているものまでも取り上げられるであろう。
しかしわたしが王になることを好まなかったあの敵どもを、ここにひっぱってきて、わたしの前で打ち殺せ』」。
イエスはこれらのことを言ったのち、先頭に立ち、エルサレムへ上って行かれた。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 19:11-28）
主人からしもべに与えられるムナというお金は、神様から私たちに与えられているたくさんのお恵みを表しています。
まずこのことに気づくことが大切です。
つまり、何よりもまず神様のお恵みが私たちに与えられているという事実です。

07章 01節
また、七人の兄弟が母親と共に捕らえられ、鞭や革ひもで責め苦を受け、律法に反して豚肉を食するように王から強いられることとなった。
07章 20節
この母親はまことに驚くべき者、記憶に値する者であり、彼女は一日のうちに一度に七人の息子が死んでいくのを目の当たりにしながら、主への希望のゆえに気丈に耐えていた。
07章 21節
気高い思いに満たされて、彼女はそれぞれの息子を父祖の言葉で励まし、その女としての思いを男の気概でもって奮い立たせて、彼らに語りかけた。
07章 22節
「お前たちがどうやって私の胎内に宿ったか、私は知りません。また、私がお前たちに霊と生命を与えたのでもなく、私が体のそれぞれの基を整えたのでもありません。
07章 23節

アンティオコスは侮蔑されたと思い、その声の非難する調子を感じ取った。末の息子がまだ残っていたので、彼が父祖のしきたりから離れれば、富ませてやろう、覚えめでたき者にしよう、友と見なそう、さまざまな任務を任せようと請け合った。言葉で勧めるだけでなく、誓いまで立てて約束した。
07章 25節
若者が少しも関心を示さずにいると、王は母を呼び寄せ、若者に助命を忠告するよう説き勧めた。

彼があまりに勧めるので、彼女は息子の説得を引き受けた。
07章 27節
母は息子の上に身をかがめ、残酷な暴君を小馬鹿にしてから、父祖の言葉でこう言った。「息子よ、お前を九か月の間胎内に宿し、三年の間乳を飲ませ、お前を養い、この年になるまで育ててきたこの私を憐れんでおくれ。
07章 28節
子よ、お前にお願いします。天と地を仰ぎ、そこにあるすべてのものを見て悟りなさい。神はこれらをすでにあるものから造られたのではなく、人類もまたそのようにして成ったのではない、ということを。
07章 29節
この死刑執行人を恐れず、兄たちに倣って、死を受け入れなさい。それは、憐れみの中で私が、お前の兄たちと共にお前を受け取るためなのです。」

この女が話し終えると、若者は言った。「あなたがたは誰を待っているのか。私は王の掟に従わず、モーセを通して我らの父祖に与えられた律法の掟に聞き従う。

ヘブライ人に対して悪の限りを尽くしたお前は、決して神の御手から逃れることはない。

11 As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that God’s Kingdom would be revealed immediately.
12 He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 He called ten servants of his, and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’
15 “When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
16 The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’
17 “He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
18 “The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’
19 “So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
20 Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,
21 for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’
22 “He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down, and reaping that which I didn’t sow.
23 Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’
24 He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has the ten minas.’
25 “They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’
26 ‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
27 But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”
28 Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

1 And it came to pass that seven brethren also with their mother were at the king’s command taken and shamefully handled with scourges and cords, to compel them to taste of the abominable swine’s flesh.
20 But above all was the mother marvellous and worthy of honourable memory; for when she looked on seven sons perishing within the space of one day, she bare the sight with a good courage for the hopes that she had set on the Lord.
21 And she exhorted each one of them in the language of their fathers, filled with a noble temper and stirring up her womanish thought with manly passion, saying to them,
22 I know not how you came into my womb, neither was it I that bestowed on you your spirit and your life, and it was not I that brought into order the first elements of each one of you.
23 Therefore the Creator of the world, who fashioned the generation of man and devised the generation of all things, in mercy gives back to you again both your spirit and your life, as you now contemn your own selves for his laws’ sake.
24 But Antiochus, thinking himself to be despised, and suspecting the reproachful voice, while the youngest was yet alive did not only make his appeal to him by words, but also at the same time promised with oaths that he would enrich him and raise him to high estate, if he would turn from the customs of his fathers, and that he would take him for his Friend and intrust him with affairs.
25 But when the young man would in no wise give heed, the king called to him his mother, and exhorted her that she would counsel the lad to save himself.
26 And when he had exhorted her with many words, she undertook to persuade her son.
27 But bending towards him, laughing the cruel tyrant to scorn, she spoke thus in the language of her fathers: My son, have pity upon me that carried you nine months in my womb, and gave you suck three years, and nourished and brought you up to this age, and sustained you.
28 I beseech you, my child, to lift your eyes to the heaven and the earth, and to see all things that are therein, and thus to recognise that God made them not of things that were, and that the race of men in this wise comes into being.
29 Fear not this butcher, but, proving yourself worthy of your brethren, accept your death, that in the mercy of God I may receive you again with your brethren.
30 But before she had yet ended speaking, the young man said, Whom wait you for I obey not the commandment of the king, but I hearken to the commandment of the law that was given to our fathers through Moses.
31 But you, that have devised all manner of evil against the Hebrews, shall in no wise escape the hands of God.

＜今日の聖書物語 *＞
（ルカによる福音 19:1-10）
さて、イエスはエリコにはいって、その町をお通りになった。
ところが、そこにザアカイという名の人がいた。この人は取税人のかしらで、金持であった。
彼は、イエスがどんな人か見たいと思っていたが、背が低かったので、群衆にさえぎられて見ることができなかった。
それでイエスを見るために、前の方に走って行って、いちじく桑の木に登った。そこを通られるところだったからである。
イエスは、その場所にこられたとき、上を見あげて言われた、「ザアカイよ、急いで下りてきなさい。きょう、あなたの家に泊まることにしているから」。
そこでザアカイは急いでおりてきて、よろこんでイエスを迎え入れた。
人々はみな、これを見てつぶやき、「彼は罪人の家にはいって客となった」と言った。
ザアカイは立って主に言った、「主よ、わたしは誓って自分の財産の半分を貧民に施します。また、もしだれかから不正な取立てをしていましたら、それを四倍にして返します」。
イエスは彼に言われた、「きょう、救がこの家にきた。この人もアブラハムの子なのだから。
人の子がきたのは、失われたものを尋ね出して救うためである」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 19:1-10）
イエス様を見たくて、背が低く小太りしたザアカイが急いで木に登った、と聖書に書かれてありますが、その光景を想像してみますと面白いですね。
彼はイエス様を信仰してたわけではなく、ただ好奇心に駆られて、ただ一眼でもいいから見ておこうと考えたのでした。
そのような彼でもイエス様は呼ばれたのです。
今でもイエス様は人を探しておられます。貴方の目を使って、貴女の口を借りて、そして私たちの生き方を通して。
