（ヨハネによる福音 1:1-18）
初めに言があった。言は神と共にあった。言は神であった。
この言は初めに神と共にあった。
すべてのものは、これによってできた。できたもののうち、一つとしてこれによらないものはなかった。
この言に命があった。そしてこの命は人の光であった。
光はやみの中に輝いている。そして、やみはこれに勝たなかった。
ここにひとりの人があって、神からつかわされていた。その名をヨハネと言った。
この人はあかしのためにきた。光についてあかしをし、彼によってすべての人が信じるためである。
彼は光ではなく、ただ、光についてあかしをするためにきたのである。
すべての人を照すまことの光があって、世にきた。
彼は世にいた。そして、世は彼によってできたのであるが、世は彼を知らずにいた。
彼は自分のところにきたのに、自分の民は彼を受けいれなかった。
しかし、彼を受けいれた者、すなわち、その名を信じた人々には、彼は神の子となる力を与えたのである。
それらの人は、血すじによらず、肉の欲によらず、また、人の欲にもよらず、ただ神によって生れたのである。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ヨハネによる福音 1:1-18）
今日は1年で1番最後の日。1年の終わりの日です。
使徒ヨハネは、第1朗読の手紙の中で「終わりの時」について語り、福音の中では「初めに」ついて語っていて、今日にぴったりあてはまるテーマで面白いものを感じます。
「終わり」が「新たな始り」でもある、この矛盾した時の流れの不思議さをも感じるからです。
「終わり」とは、「始（初）まり」とは何かとよく考えると、これは考えれば考えるほどわからなくなるテーマの一つです。
でも、これは神様を信じる者にとっては、ある意味、終わりが何であろうと始まりが何であろうとどうでもよいことでもあります。
というのは、私たちが信じる神様は「永遠の方」であり、「初めもなく終わりもなく、すべてを越えて光り輝く方」（第4奉献文）だからです。
この神様によって、私たちは時の縛りから解放され「永遠の命」を頂くのです。だから大切なことは、「終わり」とか「始り」ではなく、むしろ「永遠」に目を向けることではないでしょうか。
「私は復活であり、命である。 ― 私を信じるものは、永遠に死ぬことはない。」（ﾖﾊﾈ11:25）と言われる神様。
「私たちは皆、この方の満ちあふれる豊かさの中から、恵みの上に、更に恵みを受け」ているのです。
この1年間も様々な恵みを頂きました。未だ、その恵みの意味がわからないものや、受け入れがたいものも中にはあったことでしょう。
それも含めたすべての恵みに感謝してこの1年を締めくくり、新しい年、新しい恵みの時をお迎えしましょう。

Gospel : John 1:1-18
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made.
4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.
6 There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.
8 He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.
9 The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognise him.
11 He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.
12 But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:
13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 The Word became flesh, and lived amongst us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”
16 From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.
17 For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realised through Jesus Christ.
18 No one has seen God at any time. The one and only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.

18 Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour.

20 You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.
21 I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

また、アセル族のパヌエルの娘で、アンナという女預言者がいた。彼女は非常に年をとっていた。むすめ時代にとついで、七年間だけ夫と共に住み、
その後やもめぐらしをし、八十四歳になっていた。そして宮を離れずに夜も昼も断食と祈とをもって神に仕えていた。
この老女も、ちょうどそのとき近寄ってきて、神に感謝をささげ、そしてこの幼な子のことを、エルサレムの救を待ち望んでいるすべての人々に語りきかせた。
両親は主の律法どおりすべての事をすませたので、ガリラヤへむかい、自分の町ナザレに帰った。
幼な子は、ますます成長して強くなり、知恵に満ち、そして神の恵みがその上にあった。

女預言者アンナは、長い間、一人で神様に仕えながら生活してきました。
８４歳でイエスを見たときも一人でした。一緒に生活した人がいなくなった経験は、ますます彼女を神様に集中させたことでしょう。
彼女にとっては神様だけが希望だったのです。
その希望が目に見える形で目の前に現れた喜びはどれほどだったでしょうか。
もう、一人ではない。インマヌエル、神様が一緒にいることを大きく感じたのではないでしょうか。
独居老人が巷では増えていると言われます。孤独のうちに人生の終わりを迎えるのはさびしいことではなかろうかと私は想像します。
イエスは、一緒にいてくれる神様を求めている人のところに、今日も生まれ、希望を与えているのです。

Gospel : Luke 2:36-40
36 There was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher (she was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
37 and she had been a widow for about eighty-four years), who didn’t depart from the temple, worshipping with fastings and petitions night and day.
38 Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for redemption in Jerusalem.
39 When they had accomplished all things that were according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.
40 The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. 41 His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.

12 I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
13 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.
I write to you, little children, because you know the Father.
14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15 Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s.
17 The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever.

（ルカによる福音 2:22-35）
それから、モーセの律法による彼らのきよめの期間が過ぎたとき、両親は幼な子を連れてエルサレムへ上った。
それは主の律法に「母の胎を初めて開く男の子はみな、主に聖別された者と、となえられねばならない」と書いてあるとおり、幼な子を主にささげるためであり、
また同じ主の律法に、「山ばと一つがい、または、家ばとのひな二羽」と定めてあるのに従って、犠牲をささげるためであった。
その時、エルサレムにシメオンという名の人がいた。この人は正しい信仰深い人で、イスラエルの慰められるのを待ち望んでいた。また聖霊が彼に宿っていた。
そして主のつかわす救主に会うまでは死ぬことはないと、聖霊の示しを受けていた。
この人が御霊に感じて宮にはいった。すると律法に定めてあることを行うため、両親もその子イエスを連れてはいってきたので、
シメオンは幼な子を腕に抱き、神をほめたたえて言った、
「主よ、今こそ、あなたはみ言葉のとおりに
この僕を安らかに去らせてくださいます、
わたしの目が今あなたの救を見たのですから。
この救はあなたが万民のまえにお備えになったもので、
異邦人を照す啓示の光、
み民イスラエルの栄光であります」。
父と母とは幼な子についてこのように語られたことを、不思議に思った。
するとシメオンは彼らを祝し、そして母マリヤに言った、「ごらんなさい、この幼な子は、イスラエルの多くの人を倒れさせたり立ちあがらせたりするために、また反対を受けるしるしとして、定められています。――
そして、あなた自身もつるぎで胸を刺し貫かれるでしょう。――それは多くの人の心にある思いが、現れるようになるためです」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 2:22-35）
シメオンは、マリアとヨセフに向かって、祝福の言葉を述べ、この幼子イエスは「多くの人を倒したり立ち上がらせたりするためにと定められ、また、反対を受けるしるしとして定められている」と述べます。
イエスによってもたらされる福音は、ある人にとっては耳に痛い言葉であり、反対を引き起こすことになるということです。
イエスに出会うことによって「心にある思いがあらわにされる」のです。
このイエスの前に立った時、それを受け入れるか、拒むかがはっきりするわけです。
私たちは、「自分は果たして、本当にイエスの福音を信じて歩んでいるのか、それともそれを否定して歩んでいるのか」ということを、福音の光に照らされながら、自分の心に聞いてみることが大切だと思います。
イエスの示す道は、時々、闇のように見えるものです。
なぜならそれは十字架の道だからです。
しかし「その十字架を通ってしかイエスの示した救いはない」と聖書では言われています。
シメオンは、マリアに向かって「あなた自身の心も剣で刺し貫かれます」と言って、ヨゼフとマリアを祝福しますが、ここでは、イエスの十字架上の苦難を共に苦しむ姿勢がほめたたえられているわけです。
神の導きに従って、十字架の道に踏み出し、ここにこそ神の救いがあるのだと信じて歩むこと、これが、マリアとヨゼフ、そして何よりもイエスの姿勢です。
聖家族の姿というのはここにあるのです。
私たちもこの姿を模範として、日々、信仰の歩みを歩んでいくようにしましょう。

「彼を知っている」と言いながら、その戒めを守らない者は、偽り者であって、真理はその人のうちにない。

しかし、彼の御言を守る者があれば、その人のうちに、神の愛が真に全うされるのである。それによって、わたしたちが彼にあることを知るのである。

Gospel : Luke 2:22-35
22 When the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought him up to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord
23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),
24 and to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, “A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”
25 Behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.
26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
27 He came in the Spirit into the temple. When the parents brought in the child, Jesus, that they might do concerning him according to the custom of the law,
28 then he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 “Now you are releasing your servant, Master,
according to your word, in peace;
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 which you have prepared before the face of all peoples;
32 a light for revelation to the nations,
and the glory of your people Israel.”
33 Joseph and his mother were marvelling at the things which were spoken concerning him,
34 and Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, “Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.
35 Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

3 This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.
4 One who says, “I know him,” and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him.
5 But whoever keeps his word, God’s love has most certainly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him:
6 he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.
7 Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.
8 Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines.
9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now.
10 He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.
11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and doesn’t know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

＜今日の聖書物語 *＞
（マタイによる福音 2:13-18）
彼らが帰って行ったのち、見よ、主の使が夢でヨセフに現れて言った、「立って、幼な子とその母を連れて、エジプトに逃げなさい。そして、あなたに知らせるまで、そこにとどまっていなさい。ヘロデが幼な子を捜し出して、殺そうとしている」。
そこで、ヨセフは立って、夜の間に幼な子とその母とを連れてエジプトへ行き、
ヘロデが死ぬまでそこにとどまっていた。それは、主が預言者によって「エジプトからわが子を呼び出した」と言われたことが、成就するためである。
さて、ヘロデは博士たちにだまされたと知って、非常に立腹した。そして人々をつかわし、博士たちから確かめた時に基いて、ベツレヘムとその附近の地方とにいる二歳以下の男の子を、ことごとく殺した。
こうして、預言者エレミヤによって言われたことが、成就したのである。
「叫び泣く大いなる悲しみの声が
ラマで聞えた。
ラケルはその子らのためになげいた。
子らがもはやいないので、
慰められることさえ願わなかった」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（マタイによる福音 2:13-18）
ヘロデ王のエゴイズムにより多くの幼子の命が奪われる事になってしまいました。
救い主の誕生の祝いの影にこんな恐ろしいことがあった事実を、賑やかにクリスマスをお祝いした人々の中で、どれだけの人が知っているのでしょう。
しかし、幼子の殉教はあの時だけではありません。
人間のエゴイズムにより奪われる命は後を絶っていません。特に現代の日本社会において、人口減、少子化の問題が深刻化していますが、その裏には堕胎の現実が溢れているわけです。
自分の幸せの妨げと見なされて闇に葬られていった幼子の命に慰めと光が与えられますように。
ヨハネは記しています（第1朗読）。
「たとえ罪を犯していても、御父のもとに弁護者、正しい方、イエス・キリストがおられます。この方こそ、私たちの罪、いや、私たちの罪ばかりではなく、全世界の罪を償ういけにえです。」と。
私たちのどうしようもない弱さによる過ち、罪をゆるし、痛み、悲しみを癒して下さいますように。

Gospel : Matthew 2:13-18
13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”
14 He arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt,
15 and was there until the death of Herod; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learnt from the wise men.
17 Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
18 “A voice was heard in Ramah,
lamentation, weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children;
she wouldn’t be comforted,
because they are no more.”

1 John 1:5--2:2
1:5 This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we haven’t sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
2:1 My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counsellor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.

＜今日の聖書物語 *＞
（ヨハネによる福音 20:1a, 2-8）
さて、一週の初めの日に、朝早くまだ暗いうちに、マグダラのマリヤが
（そこで）走って、シモン・ペテロとイエスが愛しておられた、もうひとりの弟子のところへ行って、彼らに言った、「だれかが、主を墓から取り去りました。どこへ置いたのか、わかりません」。
そこでペテロともうひとりの弟子は出かけて、墓へむかって行った。
ふたりは一緒に走り出したが、そのもうひとりの弟子の方が、ペテロよりも早く走って先に墓に着き、
そして身をかがめてみると、亜麻布がそこに置いてあるのを見たが、中へははいらなかった。
シモン・ペテロも続いてきて、墓の中にはいった。彼は亜麻布がそこに置いてあるのを見たが、
イエスの頭に巻いてあった布は亜麻布のそばにはなくて、はなれた別の場所にくるめてあった。
すると、先に墓に着いたもうひとりの弟子もはいってきて、これを見て信じた。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ヨハネによる福音 20:2-8）
福音書を書いた聖ヨハネの祝日です。
聖ヨハネは１２人の中に一番若い使徒だったと思われています。
そして、結婚していなかった使徒だったそうです。
だから、彼はいつも髭がなかったように描かれています。
聖ヨハネと言えば、清さ、黙想、深いお祈りなどが頭に浮かんでいます。
このクリスマスの季節において、私たちは神様とともにある基本的な心にまた呼ばれていると思います。
日本社会が複雑になっても、私たちの心を清いことだけに向きましょう。
雑音とペースが速い生活があっても、黙想と沈黙時間を過ごしましょう。
暗記したお祈りをたくさん唱えられても、心から自分の言葉で祈りましょう。
”Back to Basics"、基本に戻りましょう・・・それは私たちはイエス様のご誕生に教えられています。
聖ヨハネのようにしたら、"Back to Basics”に戻ることができますよ！

さて、一週の初めの日に、朝早くまだ暗いうちに、マグダラのマリヤが

（そこで）走って、シモン・ペテロとイエスが愛しておられた、もうひとりの弟子のところへ行って、彼らに言った、「だれかが、主を墓から取り去りました。どこへ置いたのか、わかりません」。
20:3
そこでペテロともうひとりの弟子は出かけて、墓へむかって行った。
20:4
ふたりは一緒に走り出したが、そのもうひとりの弟子の方が、ペテロよりも早く走って先に墓に着き、
20:5
そして身をかがめてみると、亜麻布がそこに置いてあるのを見たが、中へははいらなかった。
20:6
シモン・ペテロも続いてきて、墓の中にはいった。彼は亜麻布がそこに置いてあるのを見たが、

イエスの頭に巻いてあった布は亜麻布のそばにはなくて、はなれた別の場所にくるめてあった。

すると、先に墓に着いたもうひとりの弟子もはいってきて、これを見て信じた。

2 Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have laid him!”
3 Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went towards the tomb.
4 They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter, and came to the tomb first.
5 Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn’t enter in.
6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,
7 and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.
8 So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.

さて、イエスの両親は、過越の祭には毎年エルサレムへ上っていた。
イエスが十二歳になった時も、慣例に従って祭のために上京した。
ところが、祭が終って帰るとき、少年イエスはエルサレムに居残っておられたが、両親はそれに気づかなかった。
そして道連れの中にいることと思いこんで、一日路を行ってしまい、それから、親族や知人の中を捜しはじめたが、
見つからないので、捜しまわりながらエルサレムへ引返した。
そして三日の後に、イエスが宮の中で教師たちのまん中にすわって、彼らの話を聞いたり質問したりしておられるのを見つけた。
聞く人々はみな、イエスの賢さやその答に驚嘆していた。
両親はこれを見て驚き、そして母が彼に言った、「どうしてこんな事をしてくれたのです。ごらんなさい、おとう様もわたしも心配して、あなたを捜していたのです」。
するとイエスは言われた、「どうしてお捜しになったのですか。わたしが自分の父の家にいるはずのことを、ご存じなかったのですか」。
しかし、両親はその語られた言葉を悟ることができなかった。
それからイエスは両親と一緒にナザレに下って行き、彼らにお仕えになった。母はこれらの事をみな心に留めていた。
イエスはますます知恵が加わり、背たけも伸び、そして神と人から愛された。

彼女はみごもり、その時が巡ってきて、男の子を産み、「わたしがこの子を主に求めたからだ」といって、その名をサムエルと名づけた。

エルカナその人とその家族とはみな上っていって、年ごとの犠牲と、誓いの供え物とをささげた。

しかしハンナは上って行かず、夫に言った、「わたしはこの子が乳離れしてから、主の前に連れていって、いつまでも、そこにおらせましょう」。

乳離れした時、三歳の雄牛一頭、麦粉一エパ、ぶどう酒のはいった皮袋一つを取り、その子を連れて、シロにある主の宮に行った。その子はなお幼かった。

そして彼らはその牛を殺し、子供をエリのもとへ連れて行った。

ハンナは言った、「わが君よ、あなたは生きておられます。わたしは、かつてここに立って、あなたの前で、主に祈った女です。

それゆえ、わたしもこの子を主にささげます。この子は一生のあいだ主にささげたものです」。

愛する者たちよ。わたしたちは今や神の子である。しかし、わたしたちがどうなるのか、まだ明らかではない。彼が現れる時、わたしたちは、自分たちが彼に似るものとなることを知っている。そのまことの御姿を見るからである。

愛する者たちよ。もし心に責められるようなことがなければ、わたしたちは神に対して確信を持つことができる。
3:22
そして、願い求めるものは、なんでもいただけるのである。それは、わたしたちが神の戒めを守り、みこころにかなうことを、行っているからである。
3:23
その戒めというのは、神の子イエス・キリストの御名を信じ、わたしたちに命じられたように、互に愛し合うべきことである。
3:24
神の戒めを守る人は、神におり、神もまたその人にいます。そして、神がわたしたちのうちにいますことは、神がわたしたちに賜わった御霊によって知るのである。

Gospel : Luke 2:41-52
41 His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast,
43 and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. Joseph and his mother didn’t know it,
44 but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey, and they looked for him amongst their relatives and acquaintances.
45 When they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him.
46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.
47 All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
48 When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.”
49 He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
50 They didn’t understand the saying which he spoke to them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.

Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph

Gospel : Luke 2:41-52
41 His parents went every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast,
43 and when they had fulfilled the days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. Joseph and his mother didn’t know it,
44 but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey, and they looked for him amongst their relatives and acquaintances.
45 When they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, looking for him.
46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the middle of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.
47 All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
48 When they saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us this way? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you.”
49 He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

そのころ、全世界の人口調査をせよとの勅令が、皇帝アウグストから出た。
これは、クレニオがシリヤの総督であった時に行われた最初の人口調査であった。
人々はみな登録をするために、それぞれ自分の町へ帰って行った。
ヨセフもダビデの家系であり、またその血統であったので、ガリラヤの町ナザレを出て、ユダヤのベツレヘムというダビデの町へ上って行った。
それは、すでに身重になっていたいいなづけの妻マリヤと共に、登録をするためであった。
ところが、彼らがベツレヘムに滞在している間に、マリヤは月が満ちて、
初子を産み、布にくるんで、飼葉おけの中に寝かせた。客間には彼らのいる余地がなかったからである。
さて、この地方で羊飼たちが夜、野宿しながら羊の群れの番をしていた。
すると主の御使が現れ、主の栄光が彼らをめぐり照したので、彼らは非常に恐れた。
御使は言った、「恐れるな。見よ、すべての民に与えられる大きな喜びを、あなたがたに伝える。
きょうダビデの町に、あなたがたのために救主がお生れになった。このかたこそ主なるキリストである。
あなたがたは、幼な子が布にくるまって飼葉おけの中に寝かしてあるのを見るであろう。それが、あなたがたに与えられるしるしである」。
するとたちまち、おびただしい天の軍勢が現れ、御使と一緒になって神をさんびして言った、

今日ダビデの町で、あなたがたのために救い主がお生まれになった。
イエスの誕生は歴史的な事実である。
ルカはキリニウスがシリア州の総督であった時にイエスが生まれたと記している。
イエスの誕生日は知られていない。
初めの頃、教会は、キリストの全神秘を記念する復活祭だけを祝っていた。
しかし三世紀になって、キリストの誕生を特別に祝う望みが生まれてきた。
正確な誕生日がわかっていなかったので、もっともふさわしい日を選ぶことができた。
こうして太陽神を祝う12月25日を正義の太陽キリストの誕生日にあてたのである。
六世紀にはローマ建設から数えていた古い暦が、キリスト誕生の年を基点とする暦に変えられた。
この計算には４〜７年の誤差があるそうだ。
でもそれは重大なことではない。
大事なのはイエスの誕生によって新しい時代が始まったということである。
天使たちは「いと高きところには栄光、神にあれ。地には平和、御心に適う人にあれ」とこの晩、神を賛美して歌った。
神の御心、それはだれも排除しない神のいつくしみである。
すべての人をつつみこむ神の愛と慈しみが現われた夜、人間の新しい時代が始まったのである。
父なる神は最愛の御子をおくることによって、人間と世界を肯定してくださった。これがクリスマスの喜びである。
この大きな喜びを私たちも告げ知らせていこう。

Gospel : Luke 2:1-14
1 Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled.
2 This was the first enrolment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
3 All went to enrol themselves, everyone to his own city.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to David’s city, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;
5 to enrol himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him as wife, being pregnant.
6 While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth.
7 She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
9 Behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.
11 For there is born to you today, in David’s city, a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.
12 This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough.”
13 Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,

7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will perform this.

今日の福音はザカリアの預言です。
その内容は約束どおり救い主が与えられるということ、そして生まれたばかりの我が子洗礼者ヨハネの使命についてです。
「幼子よ、お前はいと高き方の預言者と呼ばれる。
主に先立って行き、その道を整え、主の民に罪の赦しによる救いを知らせるからである」。
のちに洗礼者ヨハネは救い主の到来を告げ知らせ、迎える準備をするようにと呼びかけ続けました。
このことはザカリアの預言につながっています。
そのようにわたしたちも他の人に主イエスを指し示すことができますよう、わたしたちの信仰生活をより深めてまいりましょう。
今日は24日です。
これまで主を待ち望む日々を過ごしてきました。
まことの光で照らされ、平和への道、いのち輝く道を歩むことができますように。

さてエリサベツは月が満ちて、男の子を産んだ。
近所の人々や親族は、主が大きなあわれみを彼女におかけになったことを聞いて、共どもに喜んだ。
八日目になったので、幼な子に割礼をするために人々がきて、父の名にちなんでザカリヤという名にしようとした。
ところが、母親は、「いいえ、ヨハネという名にしなくてはいけません」と言った。
人々は、「あなたの親族の中には、そういう名のついた者は、ひとりもいません」と彼女に言った。
そして父親に、どんな名にしたいのですかと、合図で尋ねた。
ザカリヤは書板を持ってこさせて、それに「その名はヨハネ」と書いたので、みんなの者は不思議に思った。
すると、立ちどころにザカリヤの口が開けて舌がゆるみ、語り出して神をほめたたえた。
近所の人々はみな恐れをいだき、またユダヤの山里の至るところに、これらの事がことごとく語り伝えられたので、
聞く者たちは皆それを心に留めて、「この子は、いったい、どんな者になるだろう」と語り合った。主のみ手が彼と共にあった。

その中心となっているのはこの幼子にどういう名前をつけるかということです。
人の名前には意味があります。
それはその人の本質、あるいは使命、その人にだけ与えられた価値といったものを表していると言っていいでしょう。
「ヨハネ」という名は「神は恵みを行う」という意味です。
そのとおり、やがて彼は新しい「神の恵みの時」の到来を呼びかける者となっていきます。
今日、私たちは自分に命が、そして自分にしかない名前が与えられたということを思い起こしましょう。
私たち一人一人の命は、その名前の実現に向けて神から与えられているということ。
このような私たちの「召命」を、感謝のうちに生きていきたいと思います。

さてエリサベツは月が満ちて、男の子を産んだ。

近所の人々や親族は、主が大きなあわれみを彼女におかけになったことを聞いて、共どもに喜んだ。
1:59
八日目になったので、幼な子に割礼をするために人々がきて、父の名にちなんでザカリヤという名にしようとした。
1:60
ところが、母親は、「いいえ、ヨハネという名にしなくてはいけません」と言った。
1:61
人々は、「あなたの親族の中には、そういう名のついた者は、ひとりもいません」と彼女に言った。
1:62
そして父親に、どんな名にしたいのですかと、合図で尋ねた。
1:63
ザカリヤは書板を持ってこさせて、それに「その名はヨハネ」と書いたので、みんなの者は不思議に思った。

すると、立ちどころにザカリヤの口が開けて舌がゆるみ、語り出して神をほめたたえた。

近所の人々はみな恐れをいだき、またユダヤの山里の至るところに、これらの事がことごとく語り伝えられたので、

55 As he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and his offspring forever.”
56 Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her house.
57 Now the time that Elizabeth should give birth was fulfilled, and she gave birth to a son.
58 Her neighbours and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they rejoiced with her.
59 On the eighth day, they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
60 His mother answered, “Not so; but he will be called John.”
61 They said to her, “There is no one amongst your relatives who is called by this name.”
62 They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.
63 He asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, “His name is John.”
They all marvelled.
64 His mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue freed, and he spoke, blessing God.
65 Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.
66 All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, “What then will this child be?” The hand of the Lord was with him.

4 Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in ancient years.
4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes.
6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

この卑しい女をさえ、心にかけてくださいました。
今からのち代々の人々は、わたしをさいわいな女と言うでしょう、
力あるかたが、わたしに大きな事をしてくださったからです。
そのみ名はきよく、
そのあわれみは、代々限りなく
主をかしこみ恐れる者に及びます。
主はみ腕をもって力をふるい、
心の思いのおごり高ぶる者を追い散らし、
権力ある者を王座から引きおろし、
卑しい者を引き上げ、
飢えている者を良いもので飽かせ、
富んでいる者を空腹のまま帰らせなさいます。
主は、あわれみをお忘れにならず、
その僕イスラエルを助けてくださいました、
わたしたちの父祖アブラハムとその子孫とを

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 1:46-56）
私たちは「自分の器」以上に恵みを受け取ることはできません。
ですから、ある人に自分よりたくさんの恵みが注がれているのを見てうらやむのはおかしなことで、気付いてみれば、自分にも充分以上の恵みが注がれているものです。
では、私たちがマリアさまに向かって「しあわせな方」と呼ぶとき、どんな意味においてそう言うのでしょう。
それは、うらやましい…というよりも純粋に祝福の気持ちを表したものであり、また、大きな器を持っていることへの賞賛でもあります。
しかし、マリアさまの幸せは「大きな器を持っていること」に留まらず、そのことに自分で気付いていることにもあります。
頂いた器の大きさを知っていればこそ、それを水平に保ち、最大限に恵みを受け取ることができるのです。
私たちも、自らの器を水平に保つことができれば縁の縁まで恵みで満たされ、マリアさまと喜びを共有できるようになるのでしょう。

25 They killed the bull, and brought the child to Eli.
26 She said, “Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the LORD.
27 I prayed for this child; and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.
28 Therefore I have also given him to the LORD. As long as he lives he is given to the LORD.” He worshipped the LORD there.

そのころ、マリヤは立って、大急ぎで山里へむかいユダの町に行き、
ザカリヤの家にはいってエリサベツにあいさつした。
エリサベツがマリヤのあいさつを聞いたとき、その子が胎内でおどった。エリサベツは聖霊に満たされ、
声高く叫んで言った、「あなたは女の中で祝福されたかた、あなたの胎の実も祝福されています。
主の母上がわたしのところにきてくださるとは、なんという光栄でしょう。
ごらんなさい。あなたのあいさつの声がわたしの耳にはいったとき、子供が胎内で喜びおどりました。
主のお語りになったことが必ず成就すると信じた女は、なんとさいわいなことでしょう」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 1:39-45）
「幸せ」という字と「辛い」という字は一文字異なるだけです。
「辛い」という字に横棒を１字足すことで、「幸せ」という字になります。
「辛さは幸せのつぼみのようなもの」という言葉を聞いたことがありますが、マリアの状態はきっとそうだったと思います。
自分が救い主の母になる・・・その重みを考えただけでも辛くて逃げたくなります。
それも天使から言われたなんて誰が理解するだろうか・・・しかし、マリアは信じるという姿勢をとります。
そして今日の福音にあるようにエリサベトからこのような言葉を言われます。

＜今日の聖書物語 *＞
（ルカによる福音 1:39-45）
そのころ、マリヤは立って、大急ぎで山里へむかいユダの町に行き、
ザカリヤの家にはいってエリサベツにあいさつした。
エリサベツがマリヤのあいさつを聞いたとき、その子が胎内でおどった。エリサベツは聖霊に満たされ、
声高く叫んで言った、「あなたは女の中で祝福されたかた、あなたの胎の実も祝福されています。
主の母上がわたしのところにきてくださるとは、なんという光栄でしょう。
ごらんなさい。あなたのあいさつの声がわたしの耳にはいったとき、子供が胎内で喜びおどりました。
主のお語りになったことが必ず成就すると信じた女は、なんとさいわいなことでしょう」。

＜今日の『み言葉』＞
（ルカによる福音 1:39-45）
「幸せ」という字と「辛い」という字は一文字異なるだけです。
「辛い」という字に横棒を１字足すことで、「幸せ」という字になります。
「辛さは幸せのつぼみのようなもの」という言葉を聞いたことがありますが、マリアの状態はきっとそうだったと思います。
自分が救い主の母になる・・・その重みを考えただけでも辛くて逃げたくなります。
それも天使から言われたなんて誰が理解するだろうか・・・しかし、マリアは信じるという姿勢をとります。
そして今日の福音にあるようにエリサベトからこのような言葉を言われます。
「主がおっしゃったことは必ず実現すると信じた方はなんと幸いでしょう。」
