（マルコによる福音 9:41-50）
だれでも、キリストについている者だというので、あなたがたに水一杯でも飲ませてくれるものは、よく言っておくが、決してその報いからもれることはないであろう。
また、わたしを信じるこれらの小さい者のひとりをつまずかせる者は、大きなひきうすを首にかけられて海に投げ込まれた方が、はるかによい。
もし、あなたの片手が罪を犯させるなら、それを切り捨てなさい。両手がそろったままで地獄の消えない火の中に落ち込むよりは、かたわになって命に入る方がよい。
〔 地獄では、うじがつきず、火も消えることがない。〕
もし、あなたの片足が罪を犯させるなら、それを切り捨てなさい。両足がそろったままで地獄に投げ入れられるよりは、片足で命に入る方がよい。

神様は私たちの滅びではなく、救いを望んでおられます。
「もし片方の手（足・目）があなたをつまづかせるなら、切り捨ててしまいなさい。 ・・・地獄に投げ込まれるよりは ・・・ 命にあずかる方がよい。」
潔さ。善のため、幸のため、救いのための潔さを神様は求めておられます。
人は大いにして自分の弱さにズルズルと流されてしまい、結局は自分のちっぽけな姿に嫌気をさしてしまう悪（循環）から抜け出せないでいるものです。
自分のエゴ（私利私欲・利己主義）に縛られたままで悶々と苦しみを味わい続けるのを止めて、エゴを捨て真に自己を解放し、神様と隣人に開かれた者となる潔さを持ちたいものです。

05章 01節
自分の財産を頼みとするな。 「私は十分足りている」と言うな。
05章 02節
自分の本能と力に引きずられ 心の欲するままに歩むな。
05章 03節
「誰が私を支配できようか」と言うな。 主は、必ずや罰を与えられるからである。
05章 04節
「罪を犯したが 何も起こらなかったではないか」と言うな。 主は忍耐強いからである。
05章 05節
罪の贖いについて大胆不敵になって 罪に罪を重ねるな。
05章 06節
「主の慈しみは豊かだから 私の多くの罪は赦される」と言うな。 憐れみも怒りも主のものであり その憤りは罪人の上に下るからである。

Gospel : Mark 9:41-50
41 For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name because you are Christ’s, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.
42 “Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he were thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.
43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire,
44 ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’
45 If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna, into the fire that will never be quenched?
46 ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’
47 If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out. It is better for you to enter into God’s Kingdom with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fire,
48 ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’
49 For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.
50 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

Sirarch 5:1-8 +
1 Do not rely on your wealth,
or say, “I have the power.”
2 Do not rely on your strength
in following the desires of your heart.
3 Do not say, “Who can prevail against me?”
for the LORD will exact punishment.
4 Do not say, “I have sinned, yet what has happened to me?”
for the LORD is slow to anger!
5 Do not be so confident of forgiveness
that you add sin upon sin.
6 Do not say, “His mercy is great;
my many sins he will forgive.”
For mercy and anger alike are with him;
his wrath comes to rest on the wicked.
7 Do not delay turning back to the LORD,
do not put it off day after day.
For suddenly his wrath will come forth;
at the time of vengeance, you will perish.
8 Do not rely on deceitful wealth,
for it will be no help on the day of wrath.
